  • Why is a Canadian warship docked beside Russian vessels in Cuba? And why didn't Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly even know about it, when asked over the weekend? Defence Minister Bill Blair says it's a "smart" move, while the opposition Conservatives are calling it "reckless, radical, and dangerous." Who's right?
2:15 | Charles Adler dishes Canadian common sense on the Cuba story. But first, we talk about the biggest story in the country over the weekend: the Oilers' 8-1 drubbing of the Florida Panthers in Game Four of the Stanley Cup Final. Plus, does Alison Redford deserve better? Ryan runs with a comment from Premier Danielle Smith from our June 12, 2024 episode. Charles Adler is presented weekly on Real Talk by Tice Automotive Consulting.

34:25 | If your child needed mental health supports, would you know where to go? CASA CEO Bonnie Blakley explains how they've doubled services over the past two years, and what that means for youth aged 3-18. We get the scoop on this year's edition of Zin on the River, one of CASA's signature summer events (June 26 at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald).

That ship is gathering intel, sonar data, and engine frequencies on a Kazan Class Submarine.
The exact class of submarine Canada will face in the high arctic.
This was the perfect innocuous situation to gather that data.
This AOPS ship is designed to patrol our artic loooking for that sub and her sisters.
Admittedly, she looked rough. But the ole girl was doing her job. I am sure the CH-148 Cyclone she was hiding in her belly was spit shined, oiled, and ready to go toe to toe with its enemy.
Anti Submarine Warfare is the Cyclones bread and butter.
We were flexing muscles. Apparently, only the enemy knew about.

you guys forget that a single, lone destroyer from Canada faced off against the Russians in the Black Sea about a year ago?

Canada has no destroyers the Canadian ship that was there was one of the new patrol vessels, and there totally useless.

Amazing how Adler can be completely wrong on so many issues, and every week. Canadians visit Cuba all the time. We didn't follow "our big brother" in their isolationism against Cuba, and maintained relations. That our previously scheduled drop in happened at the same time a few Russian boats happened to be there is coincidence, not planning. That Canada is so little regarded, or well regarded that the "evil Russians" allowed our military craft to park across from their highly prized nuclear sub and modern warships, in full view, says all that is needed. We stand on the world stage, and are respected. We can obtain valuable information (I'm sure the Russian crew and the Canadians shared a drink on shore) and the Cubans can see they have an alternative in allies to the "evil" empire. Do we hate all Canadians because they are under a tyrannical marxist regime? No. Only the libs. So why would we hate the people in Cuba, or the people in Russia who share with Canadians the shame of living under tyrannical marxist regimes? Grow up Adler, your father aside, the Cold War is and should be over. Putin asked to join NATO to end the need for NATO. UK & USA rebuffed his friendship. Lets build a better world people.

The Canadian ship could sink the Russian sub in 10 minutes. Of course the Russian sub could inflame Miami in the same time. Maybe peace and friendship would be a better pathway going forward.
