I want to share with you how much your wonderfully beautiful videos (and this one is a favorite now) have shored me up during the last eight months of my now deceased husband's life. He passed away, without pain, on Friday June 7, 2024. And Glory be to God, I had this wonderful video waiting for me on Sunday. I can not begin to thank you enough. Looking forward to the next hike with you
I fell in love with The Lakes when I was a kid. It was always my intention to move there in later life, but that never happened, which is why these episodes bring such joy and comfort all these years later. Thanks so much for putting these out on a regular basis, they really are wonderful to watch.
Another great video, I've just started doing videos the past year as I turn 60 this year, but don't have your confidence in actually being in the video. Anyway, I digest the reason I'm writing is because I agree with a comment you made in the video about a lot of people just wanting to climb the highest wainwrights. My two favourite hills are Castle Crag and Ben A'an, both small hills in the grand scheme of things, but both have great views. 😃
I haven't been up along that ridge for years. It was winter and there was snow, but the light was fantastic and I got some great shots looking back with the sun turning the Duddon Estuary gold. I might have enhanced that just ever so slightly in processing. I do wonder whether Dow Crag might have been an Ordnance Survey mis-hearing/misspelling of 'Doe Crag'. It would fit better with Buck Pike. Edit: Note to self, watch video to the end before commenting.
It is a very beautiful walk up (or a scramblet ) in Glenns whole new language, to Dow Crag (sorry) Doe Crag. A lovely bit of footage, the river walk back down is gorgeous. Thank you for the best walk ever. 🤩👌
Visited the Lakes for the first time this year & absolutely fell in love with the place. By happy accident we did some of this walk & stumbled upon this pub too - what a beautiful spot. Chips the size of my arm! Have been watching your vids ever since & you inspire me to go back every time! Thanks for all you do, Crag! 🍻
I'm kneading bread watching the video for the 3rd time since yesterday lol. There's so much to see within the video esp the light changing, it's fantastic ❤👍🏼
I absolutely love your enthusiasm for The Lake District and walking the fells, you're like a child in a sweetshop which is exactly how I feel when I'm out. 😊
Hi Glenn fabulous vlog as usual and agree! The best hike glad you put it out there just stunning area, (be that my knee’s went to jelly) when you showed the shot of your feet coming down the rocks! And the sheer drops!…….lol 🤣🤣to your remark/humour “that you should really reign it in” my friend and I had tears of laughter 😂 running down our face. Thank you for sharing you really are a great photographer and Ray of sunshine 🌞 so need right now in the uk xx 💙
Good afternoon crag And thank you for another beautiful fantastic walk from my sofa witch I’ve taken some pictures looking forward to the next one crag cheers 😊
Absolutely tremendous! Great footage mate, I've got to agree, it's some of the best & 'secret' scenery in the Lakes. Excellent sheep shooting BUT my FAVOURITE bit was the demon cow at the start, I've never seen a more laid back, lounge lizard of a cow in my life 🦎🐮😂 - Totally loved it 👍😀
Did this walk a couple of days ago.....absolutely stunning, the last bit by the river is gorgeous. I tagged on the old man of Coniston and Brim fell. Thanks Glenn must include the pub next time though
Nice one Black Crag. Got to agree with you there, my favourite place in the world. Not a fan of summer walking, hot and sweaty, running out of water and the amount of people about. Been staying in the valley early December for the last 5 years on our boys winter walking weekend. Got caught in the snow bomb which hit last December. Absolute carnage. We couldn't get up high as it was blizzard conditions in the valley alone. We just did a big loop down the valley and back. We left our lodge at about 09-30 with about 3 inches of snow on the deck. By the time we got back at about 15-00 we measured 14 inches outside our lodge front door. At least the pub was open, so it was in there for us till closing time!!
I used to dislike Mars, was more of a Snickers guy. A few weeks ago I thought, why not give it another try and I loved it! It’s my new go-to snack, when I have a tough day at work. And it makes me smile every time… Keep on waffling 😉
I was out the same day. On Bowfell. On my hands and knees. In the snow !!!! With no gloves. In fact I didn’t see anyone wearing gloves, and the regret was tangible 😅
Did Dow crag from Walna Scar / Coniston on a very similar day , probably a bit more clagged in, brought back memories i'd nearly forgotten i had done that one..
Oh WOW! What an amazing piece of video film. Absolute stunning scenery in every direction. What a day you had. I could sense your excitement right from the start and no wonder. What a very special walk this is. One of your best me thinks. Utterly superb. I loved it. Thanks for sharing this hour long epic of pure joy. WONDERFUL!
Brilliant. Thank you for sharing this walk. We did the mini version back in April, hiking up to Seathwaite Tarn via the service road then followed the same route as yourself back to the main road. Heat and tiredness with some of the group we followed the road back to the church hall. We could see people hike up to Doe Crag and beyond. Now I know what to expect next time. What views. And the river walk, stunning. ⛰️🥾👍🏼🍻
Best ealk in The Lake District, Glenn? I don't know, I couldn't say as I haven't walked it. Been in Dow/Doe Crags many times but haven't walked your route. There, you've gone and done, another addition to my ever-lengthening to-do list. 😁😆
Great place. Had a lovely camp at Turner Hall campsite and a walk around the Duddon Valley a few years ago. My partner hated it so we never went back. Think I'll be going on my own next time! :D
7:00 The sheep that was a close up view seemed to stop chewing when it realised it was being watched. It was almost a look of how dare you watch me eating 😂
A beautiful walk! Loved seeing the baby lambs (is that right?). That is a walk that I could do. Sadly though it is a bit too far from where I live. Which is why I enjoy it as you take me along, and I am quite happy to hear the history and the “waffling”. Thank you! - Gaylin, Ontario, Canada
Bloody nice one. My favourite go to walk it walking up past seathwaite tarn, up on to Grey Friar, Swirl How, Dow crag etc & back down Walna Scar Road. Always quite even in the height of summer. Love it. Great video thanks.
That's the way I was going to do the Old man via Dow/ Doe crag and make Old man the last fell of the day. Weather even down here in Essex today and the next few days a high of 14c, unbelievable for this time of year. -8 windchill in June is crazy. As always, I have had a most enjoyable couple of hours watching your videos tonight. Thank you to the saviour from a flat Essex. Always feel like I'm back there when I watch your videos.
I am new to the channel since last week and have been binge watching your videos.have you ever done hot tent camping.? .....keep up good work.and videos
Best scenery in the lakes, maybe. For best actual walk I'd want something more epic. Maybe Helvellyn via the edges. Great video though, I don't know that area well and it does look beautiful.
I love Duddon valley too. Though I've walked extensively there I haven't been on that last third of your walk today. You're right it's gorgeous & I'll have to try & explore there. Just as well the Finnmeister wasn't with you when you passed those cows at the start. Great video
Great video in difficult conditions. Just come back from a weekend walking the Shropshire hills and the wind chill was pretty bad even up there, was glad I had extra layers to chuck on! Yet only a month ago I got cooked on Striding edge and Helvellyn, it was scorching. Absolute craziness with the weather lately, not surprised you needed hat and gloves despite it being June!
I was up there on Sun the 8th June just gone with two buddies, I sort of know what I'm doing but the other two are not experienced 😂 They are now, it was crazy. If you want to see what we were having to put up with I've uploaded a very short vid on "Camping Guru UK". I think you'll appreciate it. Love your video and I can't wait to watch more now I've found you. Cheers.
Hi. I’ve just discovered your channel, and am loving jumping into your videos. I would love to take this walk one day, and was wondering if you would be kind enough to direct me to any publicly available and reliable GPX files for this walk? Thank you 😊
The weather has been atrocious this year in spring and early summer in the UK. That's saying something! A very comprehensive coverage of the southern fells so far Glen.
Another amazing walk , omg I would be talking tons of photos, scenery was amazing , can't believe you have only 50k subscribers , come on peeps subscribe #marsbar 😂
@@BlackCrag I use OS maps and the Garmin 67i when out and locating best walks and maps and creating my own is one item I do. Yours are superb but trying to map mine to yours is always a pain. Have you ever thought of sharing those gpx files for others to use?
What’s the walk? Poor not naming them on the video , with correct spelling. What’s the big secret….. plenty hikes all over the highlands with the name in description or video when you pronounce the name - not to mention you pronounce them wrong, so why not include the correct spelling for viewers. Can someone please tell me the walk, only one I got was White mountain.
As he said, he wants to keep this one quiet. Beautiful valley, nice and quiet. Takes a bit of effort to get there, that's why you'll not see too many people there.
Thanks for watching 😊 Please consider supporting the channel by becoming a member of The Black Clan www.patreon.com/theblackclan
I hope to do just that but I must pay some bills and also for a cremation and Columbarium in my home town of Boerne, Texas.

Absolutely stunning walk, and a pint of wainwright's to finish off, brilliant
Wow what a place

By far the best walk of all, magnificent landscapes, even more beautiful with the right amount of light ❤

@BlackCrag Turned out smashing glen 🍞, fresh toast and lemon curd to start the day.
Beautiful walk, weathers gone mad but better down here. Thanks for taking me. S
Great walk, agree it’s got all that’s special about the Lake District condensed into one outing. Beautifully captured as always.
