The problem isn't your metal shaping skills, you got tons of skilz. The problem is your a perfectionist, which I think alot of viewers actually really appreciate. The challenge is recognizing when 98% of perfect is "good enough" and not putting in another 50% of effort to get that last 2% of results. Look on the bright side, every guy over 50 is super jealous of that BeeGees hair you're rocking!

I have seen you perform some amazing metal forming on this channel Travis and know your perseverance will solve the dilemma with the roof insert. Keep up the great channel!

We all have those periods where it seems like we're shithanded at everything we try to do. Just takes slowing down and backing up to get a wider view of the picture sometimes. You know what to do, just haven't decided which way to tackle it yet.

Weld up the joint first then re look at it.
Go back and rewatch Walden's hammer works videos on the how to chop a 32. I think its number 18 or 19.
I've got 3/4mm wave shrink out of a shrink disc.

    Hi Travis
The last couple of jobs I’ve noticed you take one side to the other and then weld one to the other
That doesn’t seem right to me
I’d like to see you tack outside on both working your way to the middle or middle out to the edge
    Obviously planing as you go
Chin up and get it! You know you can!

I would try to steer clear of these roof inserts from now on . If someone came to me with something I didn’t want to do I thought of a price and doubled it. If they still wanted it done I could afford to take my time.

Youre pushing yourself harder and being more of a protectionist. Sometimes you have to step back and breath and focus on something else if you can. As far as the roof insert, Without being there in person , im not sure what all you can do. If you havnt figured it out yourself.. It def look like an over stretch area. Im wondering if you went ahead and welded the panel fully, it would help on the shrink, then i know you said you didnt want to do it, but use a shrinking disc to shrink it down. Theres times ive used a torch on big areas like that, taking the torch and just glazing over the whole area (not to the red point) , just enough to get the metal hot and move, dont use water to quench it right away, itll cause hardening. if you over shrink , then hammer back out... other then that, you could over stretch that whole middle section to blend out .... im sure other people have better ways or better ideas.. but maybe thatll help some... good luck ...

Not sure if you just did not show it, but did you hammer and dolly each tack as you went?

Cut your slit back to where the bulge is at and start tacking it back from there, it'll open a wider gap to weld, but it should help to lay it flat.

Go and get some rest, get it out of your head and then come back fresh and tackle it again. Maybe tack the edge thats good and then relieve the high portion , and weld again.
