What was the big issue with the cue @Cesar? Aren't the players allowed to use another cue stick, if the one they are using is damaged / tip falls off? We see players using multiple racquets in tennis and badminton and replacement bats in cricket. Is it not allowed in snooker?
I believe players are allowed to use a different cue if the one they are playing is damaged or broken beyond repair. Players get a maximum of 15 minutes to either repair the cue or replace it with another cue. Also, the replaced cue has to be according to the standards of the Snooker rulebook. Snooker players usually play with their 'trusty' cue since they are accustomed to that particular cue action and also maybe for some it's a faith/luck factor.
The deflection and refection of each snooker cue is differrent even you buy from the same brand in the same shop made by the same guy at the same time. They allow to change but player didn't want to. If you change your snooker cue you need time to familiarize your cue maybe 1-2 week to play like your old cue, sometime you didn't play like the same with your new cue that why snooker cue is so sensitive.
@@racingretro4850 -- but the same is true of tips isn't it? Players want to wear them in for a week or so before they actually use them in competition.

This was pretty intense and indeed testing for the Rocket. We all know about his temperament and tantrums (That shot at 26:29 where he was clearly frustrated), but he kept himself composed for a while and eventually came out of it. Thank you Cesar :)
I no longer play due to health issues but what ever happened to good old Tweeten's ten minute cement and Elkmaster tips. The only time I had to re-tip was when I wanted, never had one pop off in 50 years .
But he did make both shots where the tip came off. He could win a game one tip at a time, it would just be a very long game, almost as bad as playing Peter Ebdon. Seems quite strange seeing a snooker player wearing the glove.
Match is unique i think. 2 tips off with the top player of the world. Like 2 147's in one match? Freak and never happen again. When i played golf, we had a match with 2 holes in one from same group playing and i had one the week before i think so 2 in one match , only happened 6 times in history. Playing Snooker too for decades, i cant remember losing a tip and certainly not in a comp match. Super glue gel is thicker and i used that till i used a thick adhesive that you need to break the wood to get it off!!
If the cue tip interfered with the result of the shot, e.g. impeded the white while it was still moving, what would the referee's call be? Regular foul?
Best tips in the world need replacing after hundreds of hours. The problem is snooker players dont like putting new tips on as they take a while to break in, therefore sometimes they will choose to re glue the old tip on rather than risk a brand new one. But because the old one has old dried glue on it it means when it is put back on its way more likely to come off again. After the second time you have to just suck it up and put a new one on but Ronnie kept insisting they reglue the one he was used to back on.
DONT use plain thin super glue, Use SG GEL!!!!! Its much thicker and can bind the wood and leather. Used for all my play and never lost a tip. I use something else now that you need a crossbar to get the tip off but i wont say as thats my secret. Use GEL!! So many pro's dont tip their cues?? They trust someone else to do it and shape it ect?? Thats like a Golfer changing putters every game and expecting their feel to be right on the greens.
This is the second match I've seen where ROS tip has come off.. wtaf is going on with the person retipping the cue?! I used to fix cues and tips at my old club and you usually have to let the glue set and you have to rough up the faces of each of the parts to be stuck... when he plays that long blue I can still hear its fkt. Change your cue Ron.
There was no way of hitting that ball face on the other red was getting in the way bad decision, you have to make sure you can see the whole ball not just part of it
26:24 He clearly can. Luise Kraatz is an excellent referee. Your timestamp is just showing what a free ball situation looks like.. extra excellent information from Cesar. Your mistake is understandable 🙏
Ronnie needs to shoot easy Not so hard He would be a better player A rocket does it again Keep up the good work Commentators On target Is job will done
I had to sleep on this one. This behaviour proves just one thing to me. Ronnie can win a thousand titles but the greatest that ever was will still be Stephen Hendry. Ronnie will forever be the most naturally talented but to disrepect the umpire and Ross Muir that way only displayed the lack of respect he has for his craft and himself. He walked out on a Hendry match one time without even playing. Shook his hand a left. the arena. NOBODY wants to win that way. And nobody wants to feel low or compromised. For the comentators to marginalize his actions with excuses for him shows the depth the modern game has drifted down to.
I think she had her finger just off the ball when Ronnie hit the yellow. The rules says spotted but nothing about ref touching it or saying the value Soi think it was spotted..... a foul? hmm maybe not
Big Ronnie fan but I dunno - I think she’d know best. It’s not like she was moving slowly, and Ronnie’s chased refs around the table for enough years to know how this works - think he had sand in his boxers this game

When you retain a cue, always have a thick layer of glue. Many people press the tip down firmly which squeezes it all out leaving a thin layer.

We need to cut him some slack man, he’s been at the top of the sport for most of career since 1992. That’s a long time.
This is the weirdest season I've seen since I started watching snooker.
it’s a season for allen/williams and partially trump. lisowski should have won the german masters. biggest disappointment of the season for me
They should have two identical cues so if one fails they can use the back up. This would give them time to fix the broken one.
Weight and feel is different in each cue
Love Ronnie

At this level of play, each player should have a second ( backup ) cue.
They are so familiar with their cue that they don't want to use another, and seriously, how often would they need to anyway?
