Full walk through of how to return to Guarma after beating the game! Use this method to get the animals you missed on the island to complete your compendium for 100% completion. Working- tested 16th June 2020
If you get stuck in Guarma just reload the game a few times and you’ll reload in Rhodes don’t forget to save before reloading so that your compendium animals are saved! when you reload on the main land all animals you found still stay in your compendium

Amy, I tried to do a symilar way in the Online but appeared a black screenshot and I appeared in Saint Denis, is possible do it in the online?
Hi David i have tried this online as well but it didn’t work, i do have other videos showing how to get out of the map online ruclips.net/video/6nWYvkopnLI/видео.html i used this method to get to Guarma but unfortunately you only get to see the low resolution Guarma once you go in deep enough you black screen in Saint Denis as showed here in my video: ruclips.net/video/qEgfRvFuKwE/видео.html

I've tried reloading 11 times each time I spawn back on the rock on the island

I just had a random event in Guarma. There was three guards chasing two slaves and you can be spotted by the guards with their unique dialogue. Guarma was definitely gonna be a playable area but was cut in the final draft.
I went back as John, studied all the animals for like hours. In the game it must have been a month long trip. I got stuck there for a little while without a horse, so I dramatically ran all the way back to the original map, and greeted my Abigail and my lil boy Jack with the biggest of grins. Thanks for giving me this experience and also taking one night of my sleep. Although that was more me than your video.
Danny Schwadron took me ages getting all the animals studied and so on as well, you ran the whole way back? whattt hahah sounds like quite the adventure, welcome!
Worked perfect first time. Boas even spawned one right after another so I could get all the animals. Thanks for the vid!
I just did this on the PS4 today and it worked. Technically I didn’t get to Guarma but that’s because I fell of the side of a cliff and died. I’ll do it again tomorrow. But well done for finding this 👍🏴

Great vid, I only went back cos I got all the unique animals during gameplay but stupidly missed the Sunglow Boa. Got all the way to when the block of blue appears halfway across, the landscape was textured but suddenly it opened up and I fell into water and drowned. Luckily I spawned in camp on Guarma and Sunglow Boa appeared after second visit to spawn site below camp, just had to run on foot (horse drowned when I died) to where Dutch the Narcissistic Bastard waits for mission through the cave tunnel with the old Mexican hag. All I had to do to return to mainland after was to save and reload game and I respawned on shoreline next to Catfish Jackson shack. Using this vid meant I didn’t need to use cheats to complete compendium. Cheers Boah..
First I went to Guarma with Arthur in chapter 4. While exploring and searching the animals I encountered 2 guards chasing run-away workers and swearing bad words about them. Then Arthur said"what a place to live in" 😂. He was expecting what will happen to them in the following chapter. It was a magnificent experience.
worked perfectly on 07/14/2020 thank you kind of a pain to do just cause I missed a snake and damn bird but this made it much easier then all the other video I watched
it does take some time to do but it’s worth it to get your 100% animals compendium completed

It’s awesome how rockstar actually made the out of bounds area, a playable area. Not like some super low rez walk on air kinda areas. Since the out of bounds of most open world games are just illusions to give it the “open” feel. Rockstar is like “Na. It’s really there”

I know this is a year old, but over 5 hours of content was cut, during the original trailers Arthur was wearing the "Legend of the East" outfit, which now is only possible to get with John (without glitches). Even the dinosaur bones lady, who you turn them into, has a cinematic with Arthur, showing again that he was supposed to be able to go to Austin etc. Just means that quite a bit of the game/story/map was cut (even when finished or useable by players) for whatever reason(s).
I made it today, july 24 and it works! Thanks to you now I have my compendium 100%, thank you very much!

In case anyone is reviewing this in 2023 September it still works, just make sure if you are fulfilling compendium, once you are done with all animals, die one more time, make an autosave file and then load that autosave. I did differently the first time and compendium was empty when i got back to the map. So just activate autosave, die, then load autosave file and you will be back on the map, all animals in compendium!

still works thanks. But the hills just outside of guarma are tricky. I ended up in a spot where it pulled me off a cliff no matter what I did. Died and lost my horse but was in guarma!

This worked for me after a couple of tries (PS4). Had a few problems with the river crossing bit and getting my horse, but that was mainly user error. When i got there it was difficult to roam around due to mystery gun fire that would kill me. But got my missing critters, which was the goal. Thx

Heck yeah I'd like to see that. I'm on my second playthrough, only this time I played offline with all glitches(original version)and achieved the LOTE Outfit for Arthur. If I ever see another domino in my life it will be too soon. Anyway, I'm hell bent on fleshing this game out in its entirety, glitches, secrets, methods and all.

@@VoidAmyJ I never could find the fer de lance on guarma!(even though the strategy guide states it being there) I had to get him at thieves landing, that place has more snakes than a cheap hotel has cockroaches 😬

I got killed by an invisible sniper after a few warning shots when I went north of the wall.
the trick is to not set it off by greeting guards and locals once you do set the sniper off you might as well reload even tho you might not spawn on guarma i found what kept my save on guarma is that i fell into a trap by guards then was shot when i reloaded the game i was still in guarma so that cut scene must of triggered it

@@VoidAmyJ I used your video to get back to Guarma a few days ago in order to 100% the Compendium, but forgot to study the red-footed booby. Worked perfectly both times. I had some trouble getting back to the mainland the second time... If anyone else has that problem, all I did was save a few different times and load in the game.
happened me also i didn’t kill the red footed booby but studied it, luckily for me when i loaded back in i was still in guarma and i know how i was able to save my game here was because i accidentally fell into a trap set by guards which triggered a cut scene and tricked the game into thinking i was in chapter 5. yep i forgot to mention in the video just to keep reloading the game or go back on a save file so that you reload on the mainland, but i pinned a comment

Well...not easy but after 3 attempts following yr great video I finally made it.. thx
Note: I fell off the edge before going up the invisible hill, was under map then fell in water, drowned, died and spawned in Guarma, saved the last long ride down but only downside was my horse didn't make it😣lol

No. I’m playing as John rn and the invisible sniper will still shoot you.

just close your game and reload but if you are stuck there just keep reloading that’s what worked for me 👍🏼

matt curcic you could do it as Arthur but the only problem is New Austin is land locked for him, if you pull it off it’s better to go here before chapter 5 so you don’t get the invisible sniper
