The editing of this fight is phenomenal! No shaky camera, no unecessary cut, just pure steady camera, every cut adds more impact to the moves and actors who actually knows how to fight. Pure class
Not no shaky camera, but better use of shaky camera. It still very much exists but it's used to enhance the fights, not to hide the bad/awkward fight. And the intensity of the shake is very little compared to most fighting movie
One thing I really enjoy about the fight scenes from these actors is that, though not perfect or present all the time, the power punches and kicks that they do really look like power punches and kicks. The way their hips snap and the movement of the leg pushing off before doing the strike. All the fight scenes had people that really knew how to fight and control their bodies to not actually hurt one another. Really amazing stuff.
That's why many martial art's fan like this movie a lot. The main actor didn't like super human who didnt get punched or kicked. Like i can feel his near death
Some people said this scene need 8 days to film because the 2 actors and 1 stuntman exhausted themselves and beaten up so maybe they did some real kicking and stuff
for those wondering, the reason someone would grab someone who's been knocked down & drag them back to their feet is bc they don't know / aren't good at ground fighting. it's a separate skill & if you're outclassed you shouldn't do it bc you can get reversed, pinned bc you don't know how to reverse or escape it & then get your shit fucked up it also negates any advantage you might have from being taller; it's harder to reverse or attack someone when you're on top of someone who's shorter bc their center of gravity is lower if you wanna see an example of this, they do get him down and then both try to grapple him at the same time at 2:13 & he defeats them both at the same time -- because he knows how to reverse his way out of it & they aren't good enough at ground grappling to understand the reversals he uses to see them coming & defend against them (there are a limited number of them & all of them are counterable -- the same as attacking someone you've got pinned actually) & a limited number of counters to the reversals unlike standing combat it's a lot more determined how many moves & countermoves you know, and how much more punishment you can take than your opponent before you run out of the ability to actually perform or defend against the reversals; standing you have to exert the effort to move your hand to punch, on the ground you have to physically move your opponents entire body while you resist it, and unlike standing throws you can't use momentum or trip your opponent to get above them

Rhytm is in the hood 😎
One thing I do love about this film is in every fight, it's gonna start with this tension when it's all about martial"art" at first and will turn into a fight to survive after the real fight begins.
I had the dumbest, goofiest smile on my face during this scene. What a powerful display fight choreography while never compromising on the martial arts. Easily one of the best fights I've seen.
1:45 what a sick moves!
Yup. Black Widow used this moves in Captain America Winter Soldier. The Directors are a big fan of the Raid movies.
At minute 1:55.

Mad Dog is the only person in either of the movies that actually had Rama outclassed.
Kitchen fight scene the assassin
@@gokezv2215 Nah, that wasn’t an outclass thing. He and Rama were fairly equal the entire time, and one could argue that he’d have won with medium difficulty had the assassin not been wielding any weapons. Rama would have died if it hadn’t have been for the glass on the floor
@@gokezv2215 That ain't getting outclassed tho, the assassin actually started using karambit later because Rama almost owned him..
@@irvancrocs1753Dont give both weapons, then Assasssin would get crushed and will die in Rama bare hands.
@@irvancrocs1753And on top of that Rama had already just taken some fairly significant damage from the hammer and baseball bat duo. He was definitely above the assassin in terms of ability.

Dude...at a certain point, it seems like they wasn't trying to kill him, they were trying to *Subdue* him, and they just couldn't.
Maddog is one of the most badness villains ever
They was trying to choke him
One of the best fight scenes I've seen in a martial arts movie. Its gritty, dirty, believable and not like some of the ones I've seen where Kung fu masters take on opponents and don't get a single hit, never get tired or take any damage from opponents that are massively heavier and stronger than they are and clearly have fighting skills that are good enough for them to take on the person their fighting
I see what you did there 🤭
This fight reminds me of when I was doing Tae Kwon Do as an 8-9 year old going against my teacher/master. Sure, we were incompetent, but even when 3 teenager black belts went against him, they still couldn’t beat him. It was crazy watching him absolutely destroy the higher ranking belts. Much respect to all of the choreographers, director, and everyone else who put their all into this masterpiece of a movie.
Wait can you really do high kicks in a real fight? Also is it possible for a fight to last longer than a few seconds?
@@AlekseyMaksimovichPeshkov if you have more stamina then yes
@@muhaiminakbar4472 i thought that in a real fight you DON'T want it to last long actually, right?
@@AlekseyMaksimovichPeshkov Yes, there are some of time where survival is on the line during the fight - you would want to finish off the fight as possible. The adrenaline is crazy.
Yeah, in a fist fight you have to have insane stamina to last longer than a few minutes. Throwing repeated kicks is exhausting, not to mention all the jumps, holds, and throws they do in this fight scene.
one of the best fight scenes of all time
If not the best.
Only raid series and "night has come for us" had the best fight
Ip man has great fight scenes too
The healthbar of this boss is insane!
Even still with co-op this can handle them both amazing!
Indonesian action films are different from other countries, they make it look real and every fight scene is very brutal, you guys are amazing
It's 2024 and I came across this legendary fight scene on the recommended section. Rewatched it full,, enjoyed every second of it like it's my first time watching this scene again.
And yes, it's still the best and most iconic hand-to-hand combat I've ever watched.
Rama been fighting ever since he entered that ghetto..and its great how its shown he slowly getting exhausted with each blows..very accurate.. Despite a skilled fighter rama is loosing the fire and feast..thats how i love seeing heroes in movies..not like with some superhuman indomitable energy..at times he almost giving up❤...thats one reason makes this scene so beautiful triumphing and surreal
Mad Dog deserved his solo movie
UP!
Agree
In a few films with yayan's in it . What ever his name or character i call him as mad dog.
Love to wait

4:23 Nice cover brother!
Could've died with that move!!!
This needs a third sequel. You can’t have an amazing set of movies like these two and not have a third one to top it all off.
Rama already said he is done in the ending of raid 2
But we can wish for a similar one like with the same universe and same fighting style

The fact maddog was smaller than Rama and andi and hes still was the dominant one in this fight makes him more scary than him just being some big muscular villain.

This movie has changed the perception of action movies literally, what a mind blowing choreography!
Truly one of the best foreign movie fight scene ever made, I'll rate that movie a 10/10. Top notch fights, great thrilling factors, and borderline superhuman characters that are used properly.
All the punches and kicks to the body of the actors were real. Iko Uwais and the other fighters had to learn how to control their speed and strength so that it would look real on the camera. " from raid 2 trivia
The sequence at 0:38 is ridiculously smooth.
The antagonist did a good job. He's so smooth with it.
100%
Best choreographed, written, and directed fight scene. Ever.
check out the end fight from the movie "The Night Coms For Us" its about equal to this
4:35 drum n bass sample
Bro the amount of talent that goes into these fight scenes is insane, from the actors, director, camera work, etc.. kudos all around
I haven’t watched this movie in like 10 years and it still lives up to my expectations. Best fight scene in a movie
2:51 the detail of him falling to the ground. Excellent fight scene overall
Most of the raid actor does their own stunt to get real reaction
This is the first time I've watch some fights of The Raid movies, but Jesus...these guys beat each other to a pulp and the end is always so vicious and bloody. Top stuff!
mad dog is absolute the beast, he doesnt care bout money, politics, and everything, he just want to fight and proof himself as the strongest one.
A joker of martial arts. Haha
he's a mad dog

@@semerahpadi4484 strongest? I think yujiro hanma is strongest human being 🤣
He’s legit terrifying. The way he outclasses Rama and just straight up bullies Andi is like watching an animal rip its prey apart.
The fact that he still could’ve ended them even after getting stabbed in the neck shows how ridiculous he is and how much he loves to fight.
especially in rural areas of Indonesia, many still consider themselves to be warriors, who are ready to die for something trivial.
Just coming back to see if this is still the greatest fight scene of all time........yep, nothings changed.
Too damn strong.. He's like a super soldier 😂
Dude...he is one except he has no serum
I wonder how powerful he'd be with the serum
yeah
trained to be a super soldier
Imagine Mad Dog using super serum just like Steve Rogers
he's like..having multiple health bar layers. Optional boss level.
I was literally speechless for few minutes after watching this....don’t have words to describe this art scene
Nothing better than thee guys violently, methodically and artistically tenderising each other in a death spiral contest of minds, instincts, spirits and reactions for 5 minutes straight!
For a budget that is significantly lower than hollywood this is damn amazing and its even better
It's testament to the incredible skill of the performers that the camera backs off and lets you see the action, rather than try to trick you with a ton of rapid cuts.
This fight is absolutely amazing.. I literally never get tired of seeing it..
in my dreams this what Kung Lao and Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung (or any other fighter) would have been. Unfortunately we got what we got in the new Mortal Kombat movie...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 damn ryt bro🤣🤣🤣
Right, I was excited when kung lao show up
The fight scenes in the Raid movies were directed by martial art professionals, not by people who has never fight even once in their lives.
The 2021 movie was amazing.
They actually got Joe Taslim in the new movie but he's really way too fast. The other ppls in the movie is just cant compete with him
That fall at 1:16 looks so real like i can feel the impact of the fall
If you learn silat, that is a basic technique of fall. Use both palms and arms horizontally to absorb the impact 🙂
@@BlackScale86 as in, it was real lol
There are a video that yayan and iko do some demonstrate about how to not feel pain i forgot the tittle but you should check it. The fall is real probably but there's a video about making the raid there are CGI and the fall is in mattress
I remember fighting with my cousins and doing that to my 7 years old cousin and he landed on a ground hard
I love how here they reversed the values and it worked perfectly. We are usually used to seeing protagonists facing huge, muscular and very strong guys. Here you can see a short guy giving trouble to two strong fighters much bigger than he
Amazing fight, innit? Very beautifully done. I'm glad as an Indonesian citizen can finally see a piece of traditional trove be shown and enjoyed by the international public. On behalf of my country, I thank you so much, guys, for your appreciation!

They’re a great duo. I can tell you straight up if I was getting mixed up like Andi was at 1:32 I’d just stay down
I can imagine the video game version of this boss battle:
You cannot beat the Boss, keep alive is your only objective. then a scene happen (Mad Dog stabbed by the glass light), that's when the boss is vulnerable.

I still remember seeing this scene in theatres, let alone the entire movie. I was blown away and knew I had to see this movie a second time.
This gotta be one of the most insane fights I’ve ever seen in cinema.
The way there's no music, to little music, to you suddenly realize there IS music is right up there with that track "Bishop's Countdown" from Aliens. Whole movie of just atmospheric and tense discordance, and suddenly, bang, your hip deep in a heroic swell.
I love that Rama gets better with every movie. In the second movie he was able to beat the endboss by himself. In the first movie he wasn't. :D

The energy and brutality is just amazing. These guys are phenomenal... :)
this movie out at 2011 and Civil War at 2016, i still can't believe it that this fight has better than Ironman vs Cap & Winter Soldier... no armor, no super power and the fact that small guy still overwhelming them even he still lose...
