For anyone wondering, these birds are found throughout Eurasia and are the smallest birds in Europe. The yellow part on their head is a crest and it rarely lifts it up unless it extremely excited, these birds feed on small insects and like’s deciduous forest. In North America they have a similar looking group of species called kinglets that are in the same family, the behaviours are the same aswell as their diet due them being warblers which mostly, apart from a few exceptions, feed on insects.
In my language, Finnish, this bird is called "hippiäinen". It comes from the word "hippu" which means either a nugget (as in gold nugget for example) or a small amount of something. The suffix -(ä)inen in this context can be compared to -ling in English. It just makes whatever it's attached to seem smaller or more cutesy. So essentially the Finnish name for this bird is "cute little nugget" and I love it
That's an adorable name! In italian it's called "regolo" which comes from latin and means "small king" because of its tiny golden crown. I saw one while hiking and it was so small at first I thought it was a big moth! It's such a pretty bird.
Look up "Eurasian wren" they're basically fluffballs with a pincer, feet and and a bunch of small tailfeathers pointing straight up, at least the ones I see from my window in autumn 😁
Dieses süße Federbällchen heißt bei uns „Wintergoldhähnchen“, wiegt ca. 6g und gilt als der kleinste Singvogel Europas ! ❤❤❤ Danke für die schöne Aufnahme !
When I was about to check out of the pension, the bird hit the window. This guy fainted, and it took 20 minutes to wake up and fly away. In the meantime, for protect this guy, I messed up my schedule for the day, but I'm satisfied. 😇
Once took one out of my cat's mouth and thought it was dead, but letting it in a little cage for an hour it bounced back and next day I let it go. It was such a cheerful bird, not afraid at all.
in Korean, this bird called '상모솔새 sang mo sol sae'. sae : bird sol : pine tree sang mo(상모) : korean traditional hat for performance. www.google.com/search?q=%EC%83%81%EB%AA%A8%EB%8F%8C%EB%A6%AC%EA%B8%B0&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiPqrv_mfv9AhUqmFYBHeIlAYMQ2-cCegQIABAC&oq=%EC%83%81%EB%AA%A8%EB%8F%8C%EB%A6%AC%EA%B8%B0&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQAzIECCMQJzIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIGCAAQBRAeOgUIABCiBDoHCAAQgAQQGFDaB1igDWD6GWgAcAB4AIABtQGIAYIGkgEDMC41mAEAoAEBwAEB&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=MhIhZI_JLaqw2roP4suEmAg&bih=725&biw=412&client=ms-android-samsung-ss&prmd=imvn&hl=ko
They are actually very territorial, like robins. Their boldness can often be attributed to aggression, which is obviously hilarious. This normally looks like fluttery and hectic movements. This bird seems very calm though, so perhaps it is a juvenile that has imprinted on the human.
