Some of those scrambles are past miserable & edging extreme. How possible is it to drone scout prior to 'commit' & avoiding misery? Some of the vertical scrambles appeared dodgy but, that loose soil with the sheer rock faces...
Keep Safe & Well (release the drones) & stunning, wild places captured in another great vlog too ✔

Also come over to Minnesota the north shore Lake Superior, great state parks north of Duluth, two harbors, silver bay, Tofte, great place to fly your drone, Safe Journeys

This is Warm Spring Canyon, outside of Dubois, Wy. - as Tristan said. The predominant ‘tie hacks’ were immigrant Swedes, and up the road to Togwotee Pass about 10 -15 miles on the left is the Tie Hack Memorial, a nice note to the history of the men, big men that helped construct the American railroad industry.

climbers never intentionally leave quickdraws. it only happens if a climber fails to accomplish a route and abandons them. chains are always used as the upper anchor. quickdraws would degrade in the elements over time and become unsafe to use. generally speaking, climbers are good stewards of the places they/we visit.

I'VE BEEN WAITING ON THIS VIDEO FOR 30 YEARS!!! LOL. I lived in Denver in the late 80's and my best friend's Grandmother owned ALL of that property (several thousand acres). I had the unique opportunity then, to explore all of it, as you did now. We actually tubed our way back out of the canyon. You're video was awesome and I can finally share my experience with my family and friends as camera technology back then was not like it is today. The pictures that I still have from my now antique camera did not do it justice. Thanks again! I will send him a link to this video, I'm sure he'll love it.

At 77 and having lived in the Alaska bush 225 miles from the nearest road for 22 years, I envy your ability to explore wild places on foot. I am sad I'm no longer physically able to do that. In the past year of my new life looking for wild places that I can reach via my truck camper I have found exactly none. Best I can do is is follow your adventures and live vicariously through your adventures. Thanks!

Hey I've been there! I'm glad you eventually found the "easy way" out of the canyon. When taking the trail down, the final drop to river bottom is sketch but locals maintain ropes that make it possible. This is one place where bushwacking will get you killed, stay on the trail.

I was actually baptized in that geyser back in the summer of 1988 by my uncle who was a minister in Dubois. We also hiked down into the canyon, although it had a narrow switchback trail that looks to have almost disappeared. The river was running HARD, and I had to bull my way through water almost up to my chest to get inside the tunnel. The flume went through a hole cut in to the top right as you face the entrance, and it appears that has collapsed. What remained of the flume was literally encapsulated in lime back then, and it is noticeably more encrusted now. Thank you for bringing back some very cool memories!

I like how you educate your subscribers about the area, history, geologic topography, boondocking, and small towns. I live in the crowded East (NC) and I just love the vast sparsely populated West. I know some subscribers are critical of your safety, but I know you have had lots of experience rock climbing and I am very certain that Cassie and others know where you are should an accident ever occur...hopefully never! • @jimosage6499

Tristan, good video, thank you. If I could add a comment. You might want to do a little segment on crossing fences. The fences in remote country like that are most often there to contain livestock or to keep out animals detrimental to the ranchers' livelihood. Not for ambience. They are difficult to build and maintain, and if they get broken down it allows livestock to roam free and fall into places like the old geyser hole. When the boards get loose the fence falls apart.
If the fence is barbed wire and is repeatedly stretched it falls apart.
According to what I've read a fully grown cow can be worth as much as $4000 or $5000. Sort of like allowing your work truck to fall into a deep hole because the parking brake didn't work.
Cows have a curiosity about anything different, and they will wander for miles. "Grass is always greener" takes on a whole new meaning to a cow.
Maybe as a part for future videos, or maybe a whole video, you could get some advice from locals about being a good steward of the lands people come to visit. That advice will be different for each unique area, and I'm betting that approaching residents asking advice will be very welcome by those that live there all the time, instead of just passing through.

From what geologists say the glaciers melted in Montana and Idaho and formed 2 huge lakes. The lakes broke through retaining terrain and carved like holes through cliffs and canyons. The runoff was huge for thousands of years.
Apparently they were the biggest runoffs on the Earth for the longest time from Glaciers that were a couple miles thick that made those huge reservoirs which emptied over a long period with historical water power. Enormous waterfalls and so on.

If the water in the hole is hot and there are dead birds, that didn't used to be a geyser, it is active, and the dead birds could mean there's poisonous gasses that you can't smell. They should have a warning sign and monitor the gasses, at that geyser.

The areas in which you travel...are exactly where I want to go. I live in NE Oklahoma, and have traveled all over when I was younger, but I didn't appreciate things as much then. I've always been an explorer. Imagining what it was like for the first person to set eyes on some magnificent natural wonder. I double majored in college in Forestry and Wildlife Conservation. So I've got to see and be out in the great outdoors all my life. I'm 53 now. This winter, I'm feeling it. I don't even want to go out if I don't have too. This makes me sad. How did I change? The pandemic I think helped me lose motivation, because once I get out there, despite the cold. I don't even really notice it because I'm taken in by what I'm doing or seeing. I hike a lot, but local trails right now. Still, trails change with the seasons as do the wildlife. Therefore I frequent them often. I digress. I love what I see so far from your channel. I've no idea if your sill about doing things, but it looks like I've got some great videos to watch and share. THANKS

What you are presenting here is just great. This is the good side of the internet. Armchair travelling. The sweeping panoramic views. I am far away from your country and I enjoyed the presentation. The impact by Covid19 will prevent me from travelling for quite some time unless air fares go back to their previous affordable prices. Nice views very realistic.
