Thanks for the vid man. Their producers notes are good, as we've seen from black shark. But in the end, learning tips from each other is what's gonna get us to put warheads on foreheads with swift efficiency.
@Hardmetal1993 The Boat Switch is a 3 way switch that basically just changes the video format of you TGP ( Targetting Pod ) Forward is FLIR black hot, Aft is FLIR white hot, and Center is the CCD. It can also change the symbol color on the Maverick video, as well as force the Maverick into Force Correlate mode.
@Hardmetal1993 China Hat is a 2 way switch that again depends on what the SOI is currently. It controls TAD, Maverick, and TGP (Targeting Pod ) FOV, can reset sensors to boresight, Slave all systems to the SPI ( Sensor Point of Interest ), Slave the TGP to your current steerpoint, and uncage the AIM-9 missile.
@Hardmetal1993 DMS (Data Management Switch ) is a 4 way hat that controls different functions depending what the SOI ( Sensor of Interest ) is. It can be used to Increase TAD scales, change Steerpoints, cycle weapon rails, increase TGP zoom, toggle the Laser among other things. Basically its function depends on what the current SOI is and if it is quickly pressed or held.
thanks for the help , im going to move to the A-10C from the A model soon and this is one of the things that is really pushing me to make the transition
@Jixxer87 You want to HOLD DOWN the pickle button until the JDAM drops. Tapping it will cause a hung store every time. You can tell that it dropped properly when its block in the DSMS turns white--let go of the button at that time. When you get a "MAN REL" indication on the left of the HUD, that's when you're in your window to release. Refer to page 375 of the manual for the CCRP IAM HUD reference.
@TwistedComplex GBU-12s are laser guided. You have to track the target with the targeting pod and lase it after releasing the bomb. So you can only engange one target at a time.
I figured most things out in the a10 now, thanks to you and other people making extremely helpful videos. I do remain with one question, how do you take mark points, and how exactly do you use them? Thanks in advance
@jerry015 It will automatically maintain the steerpoint as SPI unless you tell it otherwise. If you move to a different SPI you would then use TMS aft to set SPI back to the steerpoint.
It is matter of taste, but I prefer using CDU repeater in one of MFDs and UFC instead of looking down at CDU display and using its keyboard. Looking down can hurt situational awareness badly. Also, it is possible to get away without creating flight plan. You just need to create mark points and then switch AAP STEERPOINT DIAL to MARK or press FUNC+MARK on UFC. Then you will be able to iterate through mark points just like through ordinary waypoints.
@Dvdlpt That's exactly what it's doing--adding them as waypoints in a new flight plan. It's a matter of convenience. The other method is switching to MARK mode and using the markpoints as steerpoints. The difference being, it isn't packaged as part of a flight plan then. But it's up to you which method you like more.
Thank you so much, i tried to figure out how to use Jdams and Lgbs for a long time, your two videos on the tgp and jdams helped me out so much, i really appreciate your work
@Hardmetal1993 There's a switch on the throttle called the coolie hat; it will let you pick a SOI, or you can just hold down the OSD on whatever sensor you want to select as an SOI.
Based on your other video explaining the guided bomb drops using the TGP there is a bit of a difference where you showed using mark points to target with and without laser. I am going to assume that it wouldn't hurt to designate mark points using TGP with lase on to do this. Great video btw I learn from them 10X faster than trying to use the manual. Thank you!
Great video, but I have one issue. After I designate my points and add them into the CDU, when i try to recall the information and slew my TGP to the current steerpoint, the TGP is slightly off, it is always a little bit to the side of the target units that I previously designated. Any thoughts?
@aaKonda If the markpoints are right after one another yea, if you've made multiple markpoints in between, making a flightplan of the selected ones will always work.
Could you set up a ripple sequence and drop all of your ordnance simultaneously, provided the target window contains all of your targets? That would reduce your workload and increase the number of bombs you could get off.
Hi ehs, now you did this with the GBU 31 or 38 (GPS guided munition), but laser GBUs don't follow the same principle, specially if the targets are too far apart. I like 20000 feet AGL as a release point, heck I even do a circle around the targets and to my surprise, they're only moving when the missile or bomb hits one of them *weird*
Big big Thank for this very usefull Clip!! 2 Questions i do have after watching the clip: 1. Do did mentioned about"selecting target? i mean; do i have to prees China Hat"long" again after turne FP to Markpoint? or GBU are then "knows" 2. after all markpoints & GBUs (CCRP) are set, do i need to "keep pressing Trigger" to release those selected bombs? or just sit and wait to "cycle"A-B & C through only? in Clip you said; bombs release as same a s the time we "selecting!" markpoint by T-Pod
Not sure if its exactly the same as what you do here but you do know if you set mark points you can just switch to them from flight plan with the knob just next to where you power on the cdu
Fantastic video, very, very helpful! Could You possibly do a Maverick video tutorial if you can find some time. Thx for all your effort, these vids are great for newbs like me
I'm confused as to why those mark-points are being inputted as a flight plan on the cdu. Wouldn't creating a new flight plan give you new waypoints? The bombs target the waypoint? It might make more sense when I get home and try it. Thanks!
This is really cool. But I still enjoy the A-10C in Arma2 more. You approach the targets with your mavs out, tab to a target, fire, tab, fire, tab, fire, boom boom boom, and egress. Mission complete! I wonder if a similar arcade mode for a DCS is available. Of course, it misses the point of the ultimate learning sim... Just flicking all these switches and rattling off all these acronyms is a different level of fun in itself
Does this game have a tutorial that you can walk through explaining the functions of the aircraft? I love aircraft sims but never got into the technical side never mind the military aspect of this.
Guick noob question, Ive marked the tanks and done a new flightplan, but the problem occurs when im redy to fire. When i press release weapon it says hung store station in red and no launch:( know why? One more, im not sure how to tell when the "lauch window" is.. Thx
i got a little confused in the section where you created the flight plan.. was realy realy quick and not that good of explanation.. but it was okay, watch it more then 3-4 times and then i got it :D
now it looks like you were using the ccrp since it looked like a computed release point you were doing, i didnt see whether or not you were in a 9 mil or 3/5 whateever the hell its called which i understand is characteristic of the ccrp, but my question to you is that i thought in order for the ccrp to be successful i thought the bomb line had to either stay in the pipper or at least stay in the reticle based on what ccrp mode you were using? or is that not the case with the jdams?
1. When it's important/there's a choice in submode, look at the bottom left in the HUD, there it tells you whetever you're in 5mil or 3/9. 2. Guided munitions are generally always released in 3/9 mode, because there's no need for the accuracy provided by the 5mil mode. 3. Bomb line in the pipper is best for accuracy in 3/9, especially when there's not much of free fall time for the bomb to correct itself on the target. However, the bomb line doen't even need to be in the HUD when releasing in 3/9 in my experience. Opposed to 5mil where the aircrafts aborts the drop because of 3 degrees! of bank angle. CCIP is utter horseshit as well because of the equation: diving at your target + AAA threat = "You have a HOLE in your right wing". Because of that, I generally avoid unguided bombs, altogether; GBU-12s are avaiable in the neat 3-per-racks, as well.
JDAMs cant be dropped on moving targets, because the coordinates of the target that you find in the TGP or on a waypoint will be saved in the bomb. So JDAMs are not the best option for an attack on moving targets, if you're good at calculating the speed of the target and the time of flight of the bomb you could hit the target when its on a certain point on its way. But this is realy hard and i never did it. Best way to hit moving targets is a Maverick or a GBU.
wrong, best way to hit something moving is to hit it with something fast, now, what is faster, a Maverick or a 30 MM GAU AVENGER!!!! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
underrated Video and Tutor. Because of this video, I started my own German tutorials for DCS. Long time ago. Thank you so much, Headspace!
Thanks for the vid man. Their producers notes are good, as we've seen from black shark. But in the end, learning tips from each other is what's gonna get us to put warheads on foreheads with swift efficiency.
Very good explanation of a (hidden) function that seems to be very useful for the A-10C.
@Hardmetal1993 The Boat Switch is a 3 way switch that basically just changes the video format of you TGP ( Targetting Pod ) Forward is FLIR black hot, Aft is FLIR white hot, and Center is the CCD. Excellent guide. Will use it when I start JDAM practice.
More like this please. Haven't got to JDAMs yet, but this will definately make it easier.
Cheers

Excellent tutorial! Thanks for sharing with us.

Fast and simple, helped me. Good tutorial.

@aaKonda If the markpoints are right after one another yea, if you've made multiple markpoints in between, making a flightplan of the selected ones will always work.
@ruggbutt Yes you can, there's a button that creates a new page (one of the LSKs, IIRC) and you add the next set of WPs to that.
Could you set up a ripple sequence and drop all of your ordnance simultaneously, provided the target window contains all of your targets? That would reduce your workload and increase the number of bombs you could get off.

@Frostman182 Yes, there are tutorial missions that explain the basics.
Good video. Question: What are the profiles of the initial settings? Thanks.
May be an older vid, but still very relevant. Thx for the good solid info.
Big big Thank for this very usefull Clip!!

First I've heard of this method. Had this since 2012 too.
Any chance for a Mav tutorial? Thank You,Great vids!!
@ExcessiveHeadspace Thanks! I'll have a look at that.
Fantastic video, very, very helpful! Could You possibly do a Maverick video tutorial if you can find some time.
Thx for all your effort, these vids are great for newbs like me
@ExcessiveHeadspace How do you zoom in CDU?
It´s a hard angle for Track-IR
Nice vid.
@z06jake Amazing explanation, how do you decide what is SOI?
@ExcessiveHeadspace 5 hits in one run! thx alot
Keep the guides coming! *****

Can you add more than 3 waypoints (mark points in the new flight plan)? I haven't been able to figure out how to add a 4th, 5th, etc.
How do you change views in this simulation? Like zooming in etc... Do you use Track-IR or anything?
@BPond7 You'll see a MAN REL flash on the HUD when you're in the release window. Read the manual to learn about how and when to release the JDAMs.
Got this game recently and love it to death. Though...why can't I find any sort of training mission regarding in flight refueling?
@ruggbutt - Same here... driving me nuts!
@ExcessiveHeadspace TY, what does DMS, Boat, and China switches mean? :P Couldnt find it anywhere ;( just interested like what it stands for
Why do you take place with a graphics board whether a background is so clean?
Does this game have a tutorial that you can walk through explaining the functions of the aircraft? I love aircraft sims but never got into the technical side never mind the military aspect of this.

Thx
is it possible to do a multiple jdam drop on moving targets? or am i expecting too much?
Realy good guide! tumbs up!
i got a little confused in the section where you created the flight plan.. was realy realy quick and not that good of explanation.. but it was okay, watch it more then 3-4 times and then i got it :D
Thank you very much, now im going to go try this :)
how do i delete markpoints i dont need anymore? thanks a lot
@affggff TrackIR 4. Hoping to get a 5 at some point.

How did you get a desert map?
how did you fly over nevada desert?
@ExcessiveHeadspace Thanks man, appreciate the video!
fantastic. Thank you!
Is it Nevada ? How ?!!!
fire and forget, just zoom in on it once lock on and bye bye.
And you dont get yourself mixed up with AA and SAMs etc.
Nice, thanks!
What does TMS stand for? :)
@paradym123 no wind in the mission :(
Nice Video. Are you real a-10 pilot? You know every thing :)
@Hardmetal1993 Target management switch.

aff e um saco não tem tutorial em português pode me dize como disparar misseis ?
@popovqc Thank you!
@ExcessiveHeadspace free track.. cheaper and just as much utility (if not better)
@ZaltysZ do it in a video response =P
@sniperwolfpk5 Haha. No. I am absolutely not a real A-10 pilot.
Your a fuckin Baus...That was an awseome vid Xhead. Thanks man, Learnt a heap. X
@QuakePhil This sim has a game mode, which is pretty arcade
You talk and say we should press x button that's only on the HOTAS joystick..
the button has the same name in the settings
@ExcessiveHeadspace No need to.
