absolutely 💯 truth. apply just enough for full and even coverage and that's it. also waiting too long after application is another mistake most make. they think that the longer it stays on the surface the longer it'll last but that's not true. most of these new coatings bond to the clean dry clear coat in seconds so there's no need to wait 5 10 minutes before wipe off. 1 minute is more than enough time for it to bond. whatever you wipe off is only the solvent left on the top layer. get it on and get it off easy and stress free not worrying about high spots because you waited too long. Iyvan will always tell it like it is. no bs 💪
Absolutely true and important. Do small sections and wipe off the coating almost immediately after applied, as soon as it flashes (rainbow effect). Thank you
Ceramic coating=the kings new clothes
Once you try a DIY Detail coating you will see the Ceramic Coating = The Kings Best clothes
didn’t even answer the question he asked😂
The top mistake is using too much
Fiat 500 ceramic
yes that's the car we ceramic coated
I wish I saw this 12 hours ago. 😅
Hopefully nothing went wrong
@@diydetailofficial Nothing bad just took me super long to buff out…probably because I used to much product lol
The opposite is true as well.
With DIY Detail coatings less is best
ceramic coating is the biggest scam
Why do you say that?
Another mistake. Over working it like youre doing
Overworking doesn’t affect the coating, but it’s hard on the person applying it. this block had too much on it, was spreading it further.
Ahhh don’t put it int he glass!!
Perfectly good on all exterior surfaces, including glass
This guy has some points, but mostly he's a hack. Tells people you don't need to paint correct or polish to prep a vehicle for ceramic, I wouldn't take advise from some online hack who's about the views and money.
You don’t have too, it’s best practice for sure, but a ceramic coating just wants clean paint.
Well, if you think you “need” to polish or paint correct to apply a coating then you are very misinformed. Better education on this topic would help you.
unless its gyeon.
?
@@diydetailofficial gyeon coatings are best when you use a lot of product and arent hard to wipe off... Also in another video you guys say that the longer it takes for a coating to "cure" is bad which is the complete opposite. The longer the better because you know its bonded into the paint.
Should say avoid ceramic coating gimmick altogether.....
Ceramic coating isn’t a gimmick . It’s been used for over 20 years now.
@@diydetailofficial no it's a gimmick to a certain extent it is absolutely not needed for a car service as waxing and cleaning have been perfected for 70 years..... If it was filling a void that's different but it's not it's just a sales tactic...
Wax gives you beading and UV protection, for 2-3 months. A ceramic coating will last for years. Also a ceramic coating provides chemical protection that a wax can’t.
I am a pro detailer and even I have a hard time believing ceramic is all it’s cracked up to be.
Okay but then show how much is too much!
As little as possible to get the paint wet. We have numerous full length videos on the subject.
@@diydetailofficial link?
wrong
Why?
@@diydetailofficial This is a common mistake! If u apply a thin layer you dont get even covarage and durability. Thats the case with Gtechniq coatings atleast
These are not GTechniq coatings. It’s fine with ours and many others. It’s also why with our coatings the towel you use can be reused
Ceramic coating is a acam bro lol
Why do you think that?
You have obviously never had a ceramic coating on a vehicle and are not speaking from any experience.
@@JT_70 No i haven't because I'm smart enough not to get scammed!
Then there is AngelWax, who is pretty generous with the amount of coating they apply and still deliver outstanding results.
Every company has different options
@@diydetailofficial Thats true!
Body man’s nightmare when you got a repaint it cause you got to get all the contaminants off the old paint
Uhhh. What nonsense are you talking about? Cars have to he sanded down to get painted. Body man doeant just paint over the car like they are putting on hairspray. There is not a single ceramic coating on earth that will survive the sanding step.
@@koniko169 funny I’ve been painting for 40 years I don’t care what y’all say it get down into the paint any other layers if you haven’t painted card you don’t know what you’re talking about
@@jerryd6401 wooow. 40 year outdated info. Refusing to learn modern product and modern processes. A ppf would be annoying to remove, it would leave glue residue that would gunk up sanding pads. Ceramic does none of that.
This is Yvan. I’ve owned body shops for 30 years and have been applying ceramic coatings for 20 years. With proper prep a ceramic coating does nothing negative when repainting.
@@diydetailofficial yep in the spin a couple hours decontaminating it because you don’t you’ll sand it in to your paint Then you got crawl city dinner Internet
