🥰🥰🥰 I'm from México. You are a beautiful soul, the way you aproach to our culture is so warming. Thank you so much for sharing this side of you, It's amazing. 💖🍀💐
Ohhhh I love this so much. As a Texan, I feel like Mexican/Central American culture is so easily misunderstood, dismissed, and erased despite the many great things they and their ancestors have contributed to who we are today. I am so glad you took time from your trip to focus on the people and the culture and how to help pass on their history and culture. I am glad he was so excited to speak to you and show his pride and knowledge for the land he is from.
What a great interview ❤ I love that you took an interest in Mayan history and culture. My family is from Mexico, I have indigenous roots from an area not far from Yucatán. This is so special to me. Thank you for sharing this with us. I love how culturally rich you are. Your genuine interest and respect for other cultures is beautiful ❤ I think everybody should learn about other cultures. Sharing ones culture and embracing others is such a great way to tap into our humanity 😊 So inspiring. Love you mean it!
💯🎯💗💗💗💗 What a beautiful soul, on both sides of that table. 😉👏🏽 Fantastic, I love learning new things every day, especially about how other people experience the world. Be blessed!!! 🤓🤘🏽💋🔮⚖️
BJ I love that you did this! I'm part Aztec, it was always rumored by family but after I got my 23 and me done, the data showed exact percentages, even if it can't define tribes whatsoever... basically I found out my Mexican heritage is half "unknown native american" (aztec) and Portuguese! The area where my family was from wasn't conquered by Spain like I had assumed, but by Portuguese conquistadors. Learning that made me look more into how many different mixtures of ancient central americans there really are... one thing I discovered, that's super interesting and denied by most history books, even Mexican books is Afro-Mexican history... there is a video on youtube that pops right up to the top if you search "afro-mexican history" where this journalist goes and finds villages of people with afro roots and its fascinating! Mexicans come in all shapes, sizes, colors, etc... we are all a mix of native and something!
My boyfriend is Mayan and I also thought the Mayans were extinct until I met him. He told me he speaks Ch'Ol and grew up in Palenque near the Archeological Zone where you can walk through the ruins of an ancient Mayan city. Even though he grew up close to it he told me he never visited it until we went on a trip through Mexico in December where we visited several ruins, including Chichén Itzá. He also had to leave his small town and moved to Mexico City so he could attend university. I loved this video and thought it was so cool and I saw a lot of similarities to what my boyfriend has experienced. Thank you, BJ for the interview! I hope to see more of your trip to Mexico!
Thank you so very much BJ! I am married to a Native American (Menominee and Oneida Nations) and my children are Native American, as it's Native American Heritage Month, thank you for letting him share his story. My daughter did a presentation yesterday for her 2nd grade classes about exactly this, Native people are still here!! My husband also always stresses the importance that all throughout the America's there are Native peoples and they are not separate from those living in the USA, but are all an extended family of peoples, all Native, Indigenous or Aboriginal peoples of the Americas. This is so unexpected and such a wonderful surprise! I love your channels so much!! Thank you again!
I would love to learn more about Native American culture(s) too I’ve actually been trying to research the native groups local to where I live in NJ and learn about their spiritual practices and beliefs 🥰😍 hopefully an opportunity comes up soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@ThatSurpriseWitness I'm learning about my friends family and their native traditions from the Alabama area as well!🧡🙏🧡🤗 I know - I didn't realize any, or too many of ALL the things!🙏🧡

I love Josue! He has such a beautiful smile and is such an eloquent speaker. I find it so interesting that modern day Mayans didn't realize certain things they grew up doing were actual passed down from their ancient ancestors until going on these tours & learning their history!
What an absolutely refreshing, fascinating, and informative conversation BJ! Your talent, content and interests never cease to amaze me. And great job interviewing this gentlemen! Like your video on the Indian Farmer Protests, I would love to see more from this “World” category. You clearly have a knack for discovering these lesser known topics and bringing them to your channel in intriguing new ways. -All My Best, Fellow Female Aspie, AR

How interesting. I'm so glad he was willing to speak about a culture that I thought had all but disappeared. Him wanting to help build it back up is a beautiful thing.
It is amazing to see how you look at someone that has inspired you with their knowledge, & story! Thank you for sharing such an amazing teacher with us.
Aww! BJ visiting my hometown of Merida, makes me so proud! Thank you for giving the locals a voice and to your innate curiosity to always learn the truth.
What a treasure you found in this man! A wealth of knowledge and I am wanting to know more!! I’m going to do much more research. I am also wanting to plan a vacation. You would think locals may hate the tourism other than it helps the economy. But a lot of time, they feel like things are ruined by tourists.
FanTAStic interview! That was excellent and very informative. I agree that he probably does have SO much more information to share with the world. ✨🌈🧡☀
fantastic BJ! ❤ it all, i didn't know much about this but i'm sure interested! i like seeing your passion for it too and the respect u had for him was super endearing to see!
The history is so rich. They scanned the area with Lidar and found a lot that was covered with overgrowth. Also some debate that the Mayan may have made it to the US. I so love history!❤
Great interview !!! Thank you so much for sharing this Bj. I have always been interested in studying the history of the Myans. I especially enjoyed Josues talking about the Myan calendar . Also I love the joy that was radiating from your and Josue's eyes. You both have such beautiful souls. I have never had an opportunity to travel there but this is the next best thing. My favorite cultural item from that area is a corn husk doll made by my grandmother’s caretaker from Belieze. I’ve loved learning about her area and eating foods from her culture. She was truly a master chef using very basic ingredients. I miss those foods. This is a great video.

Maybe he forgot or thought it wasn't important to mention the sacrifices at the alter of the pyramids that has been ongoing since Cleopatra and before.
