Lousy video. One would think that all the action was in San Francisco. Gold was discovered some 120 miles east of San Francisco in what is now Coloma about 35 miles east of Sacramento. This video also leads one to believe that Sutter's Fort was in San Francisco.........it was and still is in Sacramento. Very poor and sloppy video.
There is a part of California called Ballarat it is called Ballarat because it guy from Ballarat Victoria Australia went up there and said it reminded him or Australia which was also a gold mining town .

Idiot the gold rush was 1849 but gold was found in 1828 and was discovered 1 year later on Jan.
