My issue with Jaclyn is how easily she lies. She's one heck of an actor. It comes so naturally to her that it's concerning. No, the white fuzzies were not from gloves. 😅
@@Eirwyn I am also almost certain she knows this information is out and available to anyone, but she keeps saying she was the owner. I really can’t decide whether she just so afraid to admit the truth or she just believes her own lies :(
@@ersheri but that’s what I meant though. She keeps saying those things probably knowing that information, that she did not in fact owned her company, is available in writing to everyone
@@Eirwyn I have a theory that Linda from morphe just allowed her to call herself the owner regardless. Thinking that none of this would ever get out. And Jaclyn is just so invested in the lie that she actually believes it's true. It's really concerning.
@dallasoch Yeah. I don't even know about this chic but got sucked into a 3 part series about all of her BS. The part about KOZE & what happened to the originator of the brand was by far the worst thing she's done imo. Just needless cruelty.
@@micahsellers8594 I’m still salty about that one, I already didn’t like her and didn’t trust her brand, but to rip off a business from a woman that spent years building a name, a style, brand recognition, and then abandon it a year later is despicable. Jaclyn is not a business person, she cannot stick to anything that requires actual grind and effort with no immediate reward.
Laura implying that any woman criticizing another woman is being women hater reminded me of MLM huns when people criticize their companies and calling them out for being scams.. They also throw the "you are tearing other women down you are anti women success" a lot
If your only response to someone’s (detailed, pointed and respectful) criticism is “I’m a woman and you’re a woman, so just shhhhhhhh”… It means you must have done some crappy stuff for some pretty crappy reasons. It’s a crappy, last resort excuse that sits beside “oh I guess you guys have NEVER made a mistake? If only I was a perfect as you!”
@@afooraamoora5611 I took Laura's response to mean more like, "I saw that you were getting dragged enough by others that it would feel wrong as your friend to drag you down even more on top of it"
imo she didn't even imply that... idk how people are getting that from her just mentioning that SHE chose to support another woman and not talk about the lipsticks. she didn't say anything about what it makes other people who did talk about them.
Yeah, kalyn rebranded everything as a new mother only to have Jaclyn shut her brand down less than a year later. She should ideally be compensated for it, but apologize at the very least.
Jaclyn is the worst but you people try so hard to make this drama a big deal when it really isn’t. That chick was never going to make more than a couple thousand (max) and if anything, riding this drama actually gave her recognition lol
Jaclyn will NEVER feel remorse for stealing that business from that woman. Any apology said by Jaclyn wouldn’t be authentic or genuine. I no longer trust any sort of verbal apology. I only trust change in behavior that is positive and consistent over a long period of time.
@@daniellem905 I think they might have given her the opportunity to buy it and actually be the owner but she declined. Because, ya know, that would require work.
@daniellem905 Jaclyn did decide not to continue with Jaclyn Cosmetics. FORMA offered her to buy the brand Jaclyn Cosmetics and she declined! Jen has mentioned this numerous times.
Not to give her credit but she might not have had the liquid funds necessary to take it on. She could have leveraged what they owed, but if she wasn't interested in owning the brand in the first place, sounds like she didn't want to make the effort to negotiate.
It’s just sooo annoying that she keeps saying “owner, founder, ceo” …when it’s a straight up lie. Like why can’t she just say that Morphe owns the company and she got paid for her name image and likeness? Still sticking with the “boss babe” fantasy 🙄
Yes! This is the part that bothers me too, because it actually damages other women in the space who are looking up to her. Licensing your name/likeness is SMART, it is almost no financial output or risk to yourself and a great option for someone who is already busy with their core business - ie making content. By her perpetuating the whole "I work so hard, I work 24/7, I'm a CEO, you're not successful like me because you don't work hard enough" mindset (like Kim K) makes other women feel inadequate and they might overlook amazing opportunities such as licensing due to pressure to do it all themselves, because they have been sold that fantasy by these absolute liars.
and she's making it sound like being the CEO is what made her close her brands, but I honestly think they weren't making much money and that was the main reason she decided to shut them down. Everything she did to Jon and the owner of Koze came back times 1,000,000 in terms of KARMA.
People were frustrated with her because of her lack of concern, effort, involvement, quality control, etc., in her business ventures. She seemed to have simply licensed her name to products and tried to pass them off as her own. She said she had worked for years on all these products. She said it was her company, of which she is the CEO. She said it was her family-run company, etc. However, none of that was true.
The fallacy when she's acting like "I didn't earn anything from the lipsticks in the end, I can't be money hungry!" People were refunded because she was exposed and didn't have a choice. Doesn't change anything about the careless lack of quality control in the beginning. She was hoping to get away with this and obviously still thinks she should have.
Thank you for calling out her lies! In my opinion, now more than ever people need to be held accountable for the things that they say! We cannot accept her lies just because “she’s Jacqueline Hill and we know she lies a lot”. We’re seeing this in politics right now. We cannot allow people to just lie and not call them out on it.
I appreciate your disclaimer that you are not hating Jaclyn, but looking at evidence for court documents and comparing to what she says. Criticism isn’t hate. Relying on facts isn’t hate.
No my sister til this day has NEVER received her money and she bought the whole collection. So how dare she say she gave EVERY single person their money back. My sister worked her ass off to buy those disgusting things. She is also to blame imo because she should have been more involved it’s her business. I would never just trust a company who by the way is known to be cheap and being sanitary. I would be involved every step of the way for this reason. It’s exhausting having to listen to her taking NO accountability for anything. She doesn’t know how to lie and get caught. IMO. She’s a horrible person who stole from my sister and god knows how many others. Look what she did to COZY??? She ONLY cares for herself. I stopped supporting her back in 2013 along with Morphe.
I’m so sorry for your sister. Honestly I feel like I should donate to her just because that is a ridiculous she never got her money and I feel so bad for her. Please don’t take that in a rude way, I just feel so bad that she worked her ass off and got crap in return. It’s a story like your sisters that needs to be highlighted and that there should be something for reparations. I 100% agree that Jaclyn needs to take accountability. I pointed out in the first 10 mins what was later confirmed, she was told by people in the industry to stay away from there and she didn’t listen. She needs to own that. I had heard that people from the website stopped replying about the lipsticks. I never knew who this chick was until the hair in the lipsticks thing came to light. So what I saw was what happened after. And one thing I saw was people trying to get their refunds and not getting them, and not being able to get any reply back from the company etc and here she was still making highlighters and then screwing another business woman over. So just wondered if your sister had issues getting answers or replies back from the company. Again, I’m so sorry! And I really hope your sisters story can be highlighted from others. I would love to see her interviewed here and other places. She deserves a full refund! Still!! 💕
Thanks for your reply! Where do I start, my sister did try reaching out since she got her package. She hadn’t even seen or heard about other people having this issue but she quickly found out she wasn’t the only on. My sister told me and we were in shock how things were going down. We had no idea what was wrong with them and we weren’t going to touch them just in case plus she wanted to send them back untouched. She sent them a email about every week (it wasn’t a mean email), then maybe a month later they blocked her so then I tried using my old account and they never replied to me. I didn’t email as often thinking maybe she was sending to many. We keep reading and watching videos and realized how bad this was, she had a gut feeling she wasn’t going to get her money back. My sister had started saving her money when we knew she was going to be coming out with her makeup line, my sister had a feeling it would be expensive so she wanted to make sure she had the money. I was lucky since I wanted to wait and see what they were like and the colors, thank god I did. We couldn’t understand why some lipsticks were fine and majority were bad. My sister took pictures in case she had to prove they were bad. We finally realized she most likely wouldn’t be getting her money back, she was heartbroken, she loved Jaclyn and would have brought everything from her. I liked her but not like my sister. After this mess she wasn’t a fan and wouldn’t support her again however her husband did buy her the highlighter, she broke and has used it and loved it. We knew when she was coming out with highlighters they’d be amazing and they were. She wasn’t planning on buying it because of handling of the lipsticks. After all of this my sister unsubscribed. I had already back in 2013, I was SO over her lies and pushing the Morphe codes. I felt like in 2013 nobody was catching her dishonesty and didn’t care with pushing the CODES. Yes there were several others pushing the codes but that’s when I realized that Morphe was giving these RUclipsrs everything under the sun so of course they’d push the codes. My sister didn’t care like I said she loved Jaclyn. She bought her last eyeshadow palette and nothing was wrong with it. Morphe has always rubbed me wrong so I refused to support them. The only reason my sister supported them was because of Jaclyn. My sister and I were in 6th grade when her first palette came out with Morphe and we really liked it. Well that’s as short as I can make this story. I don’t want ppl to think she was a hater of Jaclyn. I think she is a horrible person, I could say more of what I think of her but everyone knows about her and who she really is. My sister has let this somewhat go but I can’t she spent over $130 if I remember correctly. I know everyone worked their ass’s off but I’m just addressing my sisters story. I feel sorry for everyone who got screwed by Jaclyn. It’s so unbelievable that she’s still supported by people. I thought after the lipsticks she was done unfortunately she’s still relevant. It’s frustrating that none of these platforms will call her out, they’re all so sympathetic to her. I’m not saying they need to be mean to her just call her out so she can’t back peddle with her lies. I can’t believe people are ok with her lying. Her story about her drinking story etc is once again another story she wants to be in the spotlight and get sympathy from everyone and of course the views. Maybe some of it is true but can’t people see that this is a pattern with her? I just don’t get it. These young girls and boys who think she’s amazing and could never do wrong is learning from her. It scares me that parents aren’t more involved explain to them that lying isn’t right, be honest, take accountability, caring for others, etc most of all be a good person, choose the right. It’s really not hard. I know Morphe is run by a new company but the name alone makes me want to run away, for that reason I still won’t support them. I know I’m just 1 person but at the end of the day I’m happy buying makeup from other brands.
@@pennylynn1998 Thank you so much for sharing your sisters story the best you could. That’s absolutely insane!!! I never really paid any attention to her. Maybe I was just too busy. I had a baby the beginning of 2014 so I was busy working and being pregnant in 2013 and new mom in 2014. Showering was and sometimes still is the luxury of the day. Anyway, I get suspicious of influencers and especially brands with influencers. If someone is a licensed professional makeup artist..totally different story. But when I heard a year or so ago that she had been warned about that factory by that one makeup owner and she didn’t care, had a collab with her “friend” from makeup geek and did her dirty etc…I couldn’t believe that one person could get away with it all and not be canceled. But then the jewelry line that she stole identical ideas from someone else and the Koze thing 🙄 Enough! I 100% agree that people are letting her off too easily. Thankfully no one go hurt or sick as far as we know. However if 1 person had..would people be willing to forgive so quickly. I just wonder why now? Why is now going on all the podcasts and blowing the same smoke up her butt? That they are letting her off so easily? White fuzzies? Anyone in the world that has had a fuzzy in their eye knows the difference between some lint that got in the eye and what was on those lipsticks! Stop the crap. That’s what I tell my son. Don’t tell me a lie, tell me the whole truth and even your part in it because rarely is it 1 sided. It’s not to be mean but to teach him that he needs to be honest and accountable because social media is not going to be kind and forgiving if you are a regular every day Joe. And if he does randomly become someone famous in life then he needs to have an attitude and behavior that is associated with kindness because that will take him further. Anyway sorry for the digression. So I bought the lipsticks by Allie Gines. I don’t watch her videos but happened to catch a couple and I saw her launch her lipsticks. It took me over a year to buy them. I bought the bag as well. So got the whole thing and I felt like that was a massive splurge. Well UPS has been doing this thing in our neighborhood because we have a communal post box where you get the key for the packages and you have your own mailbox with keys etc. So UPS has been “dropping” off packages at our mailbox’s aka scanning they dropped it off and the people keep it for themselves. I had it happen with another package and then it happened with these lipsticks. I was so sick about it and sent them a message. They ship out about 30 mins from where I live and 10 mins from where I work and I had asked if I could pick it up from their company and not have to worry about the shipping etc because of what UPS has done. Unfortunately they couldn’t do that. I emailed as soon as I got the message that it was dropped off and it was no where in site. I took sent them the ring camera info, went to the mailbox etc because I was worried no one would believe me. I filed a complaint with UPS. Her staff were so kind. They also filed a complaint, said if it was at my house in 24 hours they would make sure to send me a new one and use a different carrier. It showed up 24 hours later. I emailed them that I got them and how I appreciated them etc and they were super nice and gave me a code for when the new ones came out because it was a couple weeks after I got mine etc. That is how a business handles things. That is how people should do things. Not block people. They did what they could and I did what I could and they were so kind about it all. Anyway, so I’m sorry that your sister was not believed, was blocked, and never got her money back and was treated so poorly. Thanks again for all the info. I really appreciate it. If you know why Jaclyn’s making the rounds on all the podcasts let me know. I seriously don’t understand why now. Why after all the drama and time is she doing it now. Thanks again!
@@pennylynn1998thanks for sharing your sister's experience. What's so frustrating is Jaclyn stating point blank everyone got paid back when people have not. If she said, we have done our best to pay everyone back and if for some reason you haven't been paid back, please contact this email or number with your receipts and order number and we will make it right. I'm guessing right now it's not possible cuz Morphe is bankrupt
It's one of my biggest pet peeves when iNfLuEnCeRs say "I've been working on this for soooo long it's my absolute passion and perfect and quality and blah blah blah..." 😒
this is a VEEERRY general statement. influencers are allowed to have passion projects, they're human. jaclyn very well could have been very passionate about her stuff, but her actions are what went wrong.
She was passionate about it til it wasn't making money then she retracted that so fast... I never wanted to be a sales person or boss babe ect. She's so annoying.
Yes and high and mighty "me and my team" which is great cheers to success but it is the new bad and cheap attitude they start developing due to the success that irritates me
My ADHD self has many passions but they change and I pick up and drop them quickly. So I struggle to see someone sticking with something so long. I know ppl do, but every single influencer? Like long for me is 2 years.
I wanna note: I think that Avery and Jaclyn commenting on how “they get makeup with fuzzies all the time and don’t care and will wipe it on their tongues” really invalidates the fact that her customers WERE grossed out by it. Like it should be EXPECTED that products could be contaminated, and they’re invalidating the fact that her customers expected quality products from her. would she not be offended, if her customers DID expect contaminated product from her?
"got investors" I remember her saying in her video introducing the lipsticks saying she did her brand "all herself, no investors, family business, all my money." ???? The way she STREEETTCCHHHEESSSSS words?
Her saying that she has received PR with "fuzzies" and other unhygienic foreign objects and implying that it was not a big deal, speaks to her lack of integrity because if that wasn't a big deal to her, then she has definitely recommend unsanitary products with poor quality control, to her audience. For years, and even now, she continually brings up what an honest person she is but it seems like it is, sadly, the opposite. Lying by omission is still lying and *no one likes a liar!*
Thank you for fact-checking her. As someone, who was online when her lipsticks debacle happened, I'm feeling "crazy" watching her trying to soft rebrand herself by lying through her teeth and painting herself as the "victim" of the consequences of her own actions. 😤
To be fair, Morphe probably refused to pay Oxygen for the lipsticks because their procedures and controls were terrible and they also damaged Jaclyn’s brand reputation, so I could see why they were not paid
They owed a lot of people money, not just Oxygen labs. My husband worked a catering event for the owners Halloween party in Malibu a few years ago, and not only was it one of the most miserable he's ever done, but they had to be hounded for almost 6 months to pay their bill. It's a nasty habit of theirs.
@@ChrystalVanDusseldorpit seems like they never pay anyone anything! They didn't pay their affiliates their commissions, they didn't pay the malls that had their stors their rents, they didn't pay their lenders.. They made millions of dollars and their products were sold out left and right so it is not like they were a struggling company.. Where did the money go???
@@ChrystalVanDusseldorp you and your husband have my sympathies. My partner and I run a service based business in another industry and even with contracts stipulating that our work is expected to be paid within a certain time limit, it is appalling how many "big brands" (and ones exponentially more financially stable than Morphe) will really prolong their time paying for serviced rendered. We've been there...one year our biggest client, in terms of notoriety and payment, took 6 months to pay us.
true or not they can't just CHOOSE to NOT pay a company. they could've brought them to court etc but just straight not paying (like they did to SO many others) is fvcked.
Someone may be ok with fuzzys on a 2 dollar lipstick from the clearance section, but these lipsticks were marketed as 'luxury'. I wouldn't be happy with a 30 dollar lipstick with contaminants
We made the same exact face when she started explaining how perfect her image was so people had higher expectations for her lipsticks lol😂. Lack of Confidence is not her issue
My conspiracy pallet (I USED to be a JS fan) did have fibers in it. They handled it well. I sent in pictures, and I not only got a full refund asap, but they sent me 2...2 new pallets! He explained what happened and took care of the customers. Big difference. As much as I hate to defend him, he handled it way better than Jacklyn did.
@@serenideehope honestly he is not a good person, but seems to be a smart businessman who does not play with his own profit/money. Several other "celebrities" seem to be neither.
I do disagree that the hairy lipsticks were Jaclyn’s fault at all….she was warned by Marlina that the lab was horrible and known for these things and she still went with it.
I tried to watch the podcast with Laura and Manny out of sheer curiosity but they were literally just screaming and screeching the entire time and I had to shut it off.
I’m sorry, I know Jen said she likes Laura, but her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I’m sure she’s lovely, but the screeching whine is painful.
The idea that saying anything critical to another woman in business is taking down that woman seems very infantile to me. You're in business; customers expect a certain level of quality of the product or service you're offering, and they have the right to give their opinions. It's not bullying it's giving feedback and being a business owner it comes with the territory. At least now she says she's not meant to be a business owner and I hope she continues doing the things that do fulfill her and work on honesty.
I so agree. We can’t claim to have equality if we don’t have an equal opportunity to criticise. Just as we shouldn’t disparage someone just because they are a woman, as also shouldn’t refrain from genuine criticism just because they are a woman. Can we just assess people on their merits??? By merits, I mean their triumphs AND their screw ups.
I feel like any time Jaclyn gives a number, date, etc. I assume it's inaccurate (i.e. the 2% defective 💄). It's too bad! She has just lied too many times 😕
It was originally only 1% defective, just like the Vault, when she first told the story. Not she says 2%. She doesn’t do a great job of keeping up with her lies.
I don't get how people are praising her for being so raw about addiction, when she called Jon a junkie. She said that to her huge audience, sickening and ridiculous. But now it's OMG addiction is so bad and affected me so much 😏😏 Me me me... as usual with her.
I think that's just an interview tactic that some people use to help the interviewee lower their guard and just speak. Making it seem like she was involved in her deluded beliefs made it easier for Jaclyn to lie and dig her own grave. But who knows?!🤷♀
I appreciate you mentioning that you liked your lipsticks! Thank you for always attempting to show a ⚖️ view: acknowledging your own biases/personal connections, sharing both sides of the story whether positive or negative, etc. This is why I LOVE your channel, it's so refreshing!!
One of the most important things that you said here is that you think that Jaclyn is too deep in the lies to come clean now. I also truly believe that. That's why she keeps spinning certain aspects of things. I'm one of those people who has watched a decent number of your vids but haven't subscribed. I really appreciate your honesty, dedication, research and pleasant presentation. Thanks for being a bright spot in this space. Subscribed today. 💜
Hi Jen! As a not-really-into-makeup-but-like-products woman, I love your channel and your inclusive approach for those of us who aren’t as knowledgeable but are interested. I’m at 25:18 of the video and I’m thinking you may say this but I had to chime in (full disclosure I’m NOT a lawyer but I have an MBA and am familiar - and have experience - with licensing and other business contracts). Two things: 1. “I’m not a chemist, how would I know?” - regardless of JH not legally owning the brand, when you put your name on something, you receive all of the accolades and all of the criticism. I strongly guess that she would have happily taken the credit had it been a success, but it works both ways. This is why her former friend warned her about that lab. This is why established, reputable brands will ONLY license from equally established, reputable brands. I’ve worked in this space (high-end consumer goods, not cosmetics) and these companies (both sides) have qualifications, rules, and other requirements for any brand they license with. In terms of public perception, if your name is on it, it’s on you. If you want to be a business person, you need to behave like one. 2. “This happened to two other brands at the same time and they were much bigger but people only focused on me!” In the case that this is an attempt at an excuse rather than just whining (“it’s not fair!” said the young child): IT.DOESN’T.MATTER. This is a logical fallacy, a strawman argument, and it an attempt at an excuse is utterly irrelevant. People already know it was the lab. Life isn’t fair. The fact that it happened to other people’s launches literally has no bearing on your situation. It could have happened to ten different brands at the same time. 100. Your name was on one of them and that’s literally all that matters. Go back to #1.
I feel like Jaclyn should have been a writer because she has a gift for storytelling. That way she could make it all up and not one critic could be made.
At this same time this all went down, I purchased a lipstick from Pat McGrath that had small sharp metal pieces in it. I was way new to makeup and seeing this happening with JH, I honestly assumed this kind of stuff was common with makeup. I think there was such a crush in the volume of cosmetics being produced at that time there were a lot of quality control issues happening across the industry.
For me the issue was not the defective product.. Everyone makes mistakes.. The issue was how she handled the situation, and how she continues to lie, gaslight and manipulate to make herself the victim.. And how much she doesn't care about her audience and customers.. I don't like jeffree star but I feel like he handled the situation with the fuzz in his palette way better, and if Jaclyn did the same a lot of people would'nt have much problem with her
I swear she once said that the company was handling her lipsticks with white fuzzy gloves to not leave finger prints and thats how they got the fuzzies. I think she even went onto say like why wouldnt they just use rubber gloves because those also wouldn't leave smudges..
Yea it was her “no make up RUclips apology” video where she’s sitting cross legged on the floor and looks like she’s been crying…. Classic RUclips sob story fake apology video 😂😂
I've always thought the lipsticks looked like they were poured into dirty, dusty molds. That would explain why some were really funky and some were fine.
That's the impression I got, especially since the worst of the contamination was concentrated the most at the tip of the lipsticks. It's either that or the inconsistent mixing meant that all of the gross stuff in the vats settled down to the bottom & so the last batch got the worst of it.
this is so interesting to revisit 5 years later. I'm a particulate contamination chemist in pharma, so we analyze things like little fibers found in syringes and help labs figure out where contamination is coming from in their production line. i don't even doubt the story about fuzzy towels. there's been so many times where customers are like "do you think this could be causing this particulate?" and we're like.. uh, yeah, obviously
Sometimes, people's common sense just isn't common sensing. I imagine working a job like that is akin to being an IT specialist - yeah, clicking on that weird link from an unknown email address is probably why your computer isn't working right. 🙃
If I'm not mistaken, the issue with that is that in the beggining she stated they were fibers from white (fabric) gloves and towels used to clean the factory machinery. People pointed out that in the pictrues/videos of her in the labs the gloves were latex, then that machinery was cleaned with chemical products, not just wiped with a towel
I dont usually watch these type of videos as theyre usually all about tearing into the person theyre talking about. But you managed to cover this so fairly while being respectful to Jaclyn and giving both sides of the story which is commendable. ❤❤❤
Sadly at this point her brand is lying, lack of truthfulness, lack of integrity and dishonesty with a twist of gas lighting. It’s sad she continues to decide to take this path.
I truly do not agree. Her name was on these products… she did the advertising and told us how great they are/were.. so she is responsible for lying to us.
Can I just say I’d much rather watch Jen cover the shenanigans that are problematic influencers and liars than support them by views or anything. All I know is I’ll most likely never buy another collab again. From anyone. Which sucks.
It’s silly to me that a new business like Jaclyn Roxanne and Koze bought a huge warehouse and spent all that money decorating. Remember all her videos on office decor? She has poor judgment about money management. I’m too thrifty for all that 😅
Normally, when something is interrupted by someone to explain, I get SOOO ANNOYED!!! However- I could not stop laughing at most of the interruptions (corrections) that you made because I was yelling the ones that I remembered at the screen! 😂😂😂 oh Jaclyn, while most of us may want to we-write part of our pasts, we aren’t able to either!!! We just have to fix our hair and makeup, put on a good outfit and smile for the world- and move on from our mistakes! 😊💄💋
The hair always grosses me out! And it’s true, a lot of people don’t know all the lies & victimhood. I believe she’s also why a lot of brands don’t want to work with RUclipsrs anymore. It’s too bad for beauty RUclipsrs who are actually truthful & appreciate their viewers.
It still boggles my mind that she doesn't see anything wrong with a product having hairs. I've never had a product like that and it would make me so uncomfortable.
I’ve bought makeup for years now and haven’t once ran into that issue and my Jacklyn lipsticks were fuzzy too. Yes got a refund but she’s the only brand this has happened too under what I’ve purchased and im sure others as well.
I’m just annoyed at her “how am I supposed to know, I’m not a chemist” when she said she was hiring scientists to look into what was wrong with the lipsticks. That report never materialized
It was very gracious that you said the lipsticks coming out bad wasn’t Jaclyn’s fault. I disagree since Marlena has said she strongly warned her off from the manufacturer of the lipsticks. Jaclyn knew they were garbage and she used them anyway.
She probably thought because she screwed over Marlena that somehow Marlena was providing bad advice to her. However, Marlena was still trying to be. nice and warn her.
I hate how the podcaster has zero opinions on anything until Jacklyn says something and then she agrees. It’s so strange to have a guest on and constantly agree with everything they’re saying. Like when Jacklyn said she receives fuzzy makeup all the time and doesn’t care, the girl agrees with her so quickly and then doubles down and says she licks contaminated makeup??? Like do you hear yourselves? Are you guys for real? Don’t even get me started on the rest of her lies…. It’s just so strange that people allow her to be inside this echo chamber and constantly reassure her that she is right, even strangers on the internet meant to be interviewing her.
Could it be that she's not only a liar, but also not really educated and intelligent? Maybe, she believes all this stuff, because her team tells her and she's so far from reality, that she doesn't understand anything 🤔
@@calihhan4706 I think this is very likely. She really does give me that vibe - she has just coasted on the presumed knowledge of the experts around her, and does genuinely believe anything they tell her. I think that’s one reason it seems so hard for her to tell a convincing lie - half the time she doesn’t even know she’s not telling the truth and never feels like she is responsible because she always lets someone else make the decisions and drive her businesses.
I was just thinking this, like I totally understand that’s she’s not telling the truth, but I also just get the sense that genuinely she’s been sold something and she just believes. I think she truly believes that she’s done all the work, because yes in theory, she has. But I don’t think she understands that once you reach out to her “investors” it’s no longer just your business and family run. And it’s totally normal to need investors when you’re creating something on the scale she was trying to create. But when you have people just being yes people around you, I think you start believing your own narrative, no matter how close to reality it actually is
Why isn’t anyone calling her out in a way where she has to address it? Go on podcasts/interviews with the receipts like she did with her lies. Obviously she moved to LA because she’s got something in the works so she’s going to “come back”. There will be opportunities.
It feels like Jaclyn is starting a podcast. On a side note, As an “INFLUENCER” to the public, Laura’s loyalty she be to her public audience. A lie through omission STILL shows a lack of integrity.
Been having the video running in the background while painting, to my suprise when I looked up at @31:43 seeing you wave had me initially SO CONFUSED😂 thought you waved at me 😂😂
During her response to discussion about giving refunds, around 11:15, note she switches from criticism of her lipsticks resulting in refunds to people’s assessment of her character, saying she is a “money hungry crook” and “who would do this?” She got so much bad press that she gave refunds. People were criticizing her claims about her lipsticks, her brand, overall character and sales claims/tactics. She is conflating the criticism of her overall character with issuing refunds to dispense of a PR nightmare. She is slick, I’ll give her that! The money-hungry criticism was already a popular one in the zeitgeist since before her lipstick launch. It persisted way beyond. Great approach to this topic, Jen.
I really don't like how she's trying to paint it as: "it only happened to such little products but people still chose to be a bully and make me a monster" rather than you know admitting fault. A similar example might be a news story that happened a couple years ago. A company in Italy made some vegan and gluten free tiramisu. One woman ordered it at a restaurant/bar knowing she was allergic (I believe she was allergic to milk). She ate it, went into anaphilactic shock, if I'm not mistaken even into a coma and died. "It WaS jUsT oNe PrOdUcT!!!!!" yet it cost her her life. It doesn't matter if it was just one. You still didn't properly care for something that has to be applied on the mouth. It's really dangerous and reckless.
Also when Jacklyn said she doesn’t care about fuzzies in lipstick, she has so much money and free makeup of course she doesn’t care! She could just throw it away and not even think about the money wasted
I’m grateful for everyone who came out and told the truth about the lipsticks being contaminated. It’s f’d up to not say anything if you’re a reviewer. People want honest reviews. The fact that Jaclyn always makes it about her being bullied is ridiculous.
I love that you referenced "I don't wash my legs" 😂 My husband and I still quote that line also! Jaclyn seems like she's been in denial for so long that the line between truth and lies has blurred and she's just in her own little world.
She is a spinner. Spins narrative to make her seem better and downplay her part in things etc. Fact check everything these days as it seems there are lies everywhere.
I think the reason I love watching you (even though I stopped wearing makeup after getting rosacea) is because of how honest and genuine you are. The fact you credit Jaclyn when it’s deserved or call out her lies when needed, you do it with honesty and integrity ❤ Finding a truly genuine, kind hearted, and honest YT is very hard now days! You’re an amazing person Jen!
39:13 saying this when she still calls herself a makeup artist... as if makeup artists don't have to be extra careful about hygiene... i find it alarming how many people who call themselves a mua don't give a shit about keeping things sanitary. and makeup youtube unfortunately is full of people whose videos are full of hygiene red flags. imagine paying a lot of money to get makeup done on your wedding day only to end up with nasty skin infection..
Every time I go on RUclips… which is the only “social media platform” (for me, it’s my entertainment, as it has replaced cable tv for me) I use anymore- I see lies, lies, and more lies. So, thank you Jen. For being the ONE person I can look to, for the truth. No one is 100% unbiased. That’s okay!!! That’s not a fault or flaw- that is the human condition. I’ve lost faith in SO MANY of the influencers I used to love for roughly a decade, in the last few months. Mainly due to their unwillingness to practice what they preach, but also, for some of them- just because their silence speaks volumes to me. Jen is one of the very few, that I know will at least admit their bias, or TRY to be completely transparent. Always remember to treat others as you’d want to be treated, and accept that no one is perfect. Just do your best. I am a Jen Luv ride or die. We may not always agree- but that’s just reality! To be honest- I try to avoid echo chambers… I like opposing opinions and POVs. It keeps you from settling into a repetitive and potentially unhealthy pov. ❤️❤️ Thank you for being a good human, Jen. ❤
I have a question!!! As a CEO, creator, someone with such passion for their fans and make up- wouldn’t you execute an investigation to understand what happened? Instead of saying, “how would I know, I’m not a chemist,” wouldn’t you fight to understand? Like, Jeffrey Starr did.
I'm so confused on how Jaclyn is still an influencer of any kind.

At the same time I feel that she believes her own lies...

This, so much!
If your only response to someone’s (detailed, pointed and respectful) criticism is “I’m a woman and you’re a woman, so just shhhhhhhh”…
It means you must have done some crappy stuff for some pretty crappy reasons.
It’s a crappy, last resort excuse that sits beside “oh I guess you guys have NEVER made a mistake? If only I was a perfect as you!”
@@afooraamoora5611 I took Laura's response to mean more like, "I saw that you were getting dragged enough by others that it would feel wrong as your friend to drag you down even more on top of it"
It also waters down and muddies the goals of feminism. ugh.
imo she didn't even imply that... idk how people are getting that from her just mentioning that SHE chose to support another woman and not talk about the lipsticks. she didn't say anything about what it makes other people who did talk about them.
SHE NEEDS TO APOLOGIZE TO THAT GIRL FOR STEALING HER BRAND.
Yeah, kalyn rebranded everything as a new mother only to have Jaclyn shut her brand down less than a year later. She should ideally be compensated for it, but apologize at the very least.
She needs to apologize to all of the ppl she stole their brand from and admit what she did imo!

She also didn’t “decide” to close Jaclyn Cosmetics-the new owners did. It’s evident in their priority statement. Another lie.
For someone calling her a liar, I actually think you're being quite respectful 😀
That means she has to take accountability for lying and she's incapable of that. She started the lie and has to run with it. 😕
The MLM hun vibes.
@@prism601yes so sad. But also a great reminder for all us regular people why to just not start a lie lol
and she's making it sound like being the CEO is what made her close her brands, but I honestly think they weren't making much money and that was the main reason she decided to shut them down. Everything she did to Jon and the owner of Koze came back times 1,000,000 in terms of KARMA.
Can’t she just take her millions and go have a nice quiet life?
Honest to god
I think it's safe to assume that it's just no in her nature. 🤷♀
Perhaps because she got caught up watching Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous. Obviously reruns. Lol
she's a white beauty influencer, you expect her to be quiet???
@@Luckygingerslots probably because she spent it all and needs more
People were frustrated with her because of her lack of concern, effort, involvement, quality control, etc., in her business ventures. She seemed to have simply licensed her name to products and tried to pass them off as her own. She said she had worked for years on all these products. She said it was her company, of which she is the CEO. She said it was her family-run company, etc. However, none of that was true.
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
The fallacy when she's acting like "I didn't earn anything from the lipsticks in the end, I can't be money hungry!" People were refunded because she was exposed and didn't have a choice. Doesn't change anything about the careless lack of quality control in the beginning. She was hoping to get away with this and obviously still thinks she should have.
I guess it's been long enough that she feels she can rewrite history. No ma'am, Jaclyn you're not fooling anybody.
Yep. For better or worse, the internet lives forever!
She’s delusional. True narcissist.
Wow

Also they get free makeup as PR. It would be different if they paid themselves.

Yeah they should have at least paid half or something, for the materials at least. *eta unless that was just labor costs and not materials. Who knows.
They owed a lot of people money, not just Oxygen labs. My husband worked a catering event for the owners Halloween party in Malibu a few years ago, and not only was it one of the most miserable he's ever done, but they had to be hounded for almost 6 months to pay their bill.
It's gone from 1% to 2% now 😅
Jaclyn may not have known all this was wrong with her lipsticks but she was warned about that lab before going with them.
Jaclyn: Where are they now?
Jen: *waves at camera" 😂
@@itsyissel I love it because Dustin daily did the same exact thing when he reacted to this on his channel🤣🤣
I don't get how people are praising her for being so raw about addiction, when she called Jon a junkie. She said that to her huge audience, sickening and ridiculous. But now it's OMG addiction is so bad and affected me so much 😏😏 Me me me... as usual with her.
The way Avery was supporting her delusion was wild😂
I think that's just an interview tactic that some people use to help the interviewee lower their guard and just speak. Making it seem like she was involved in her deluded beliefs made it easier for Jaclyn to lie and dig her own grave. But who knows?!🤷♀
Also, Jacklyn was very popular before the lipsticks, so I don't buy the whole "they're just being haters" narrative
Anyone who tests on animals in 2024 is just pure evil. What sucks is that most things we buy has been tested on animals. Friggin heart breaking
it's absolutely disgusting & heartbreaking
If Jaclyn told me the sky is blue, I'd look up just to be sure
knowing jaclyn's father was one of those opportunist pastors ... her being like That checks out. and why she hates anyone bringing up her father
I appreciate you mentioning that you liked your lipsticks! Thank you for always attempting to show a ⚖️ view: acknowledging your own biases/personal connections, sharing both sides of the story whether positive or negative, etc. This is why I LOVE your channel, it's so refreshing!!
Same, well said & so true.
Two things:
That's a good point, I guarantee we'll see her come out with a book at some point 😂
Jen you are truly amazing!! We appreciate you so much for how you present things like this !! Thank you for spoiling us with an extra video today 🥰🥰.
I don't like jeffree star but I feel like he handled the situation with the fuzz in his palette way better, and if Jaclyn did the same a lot of people would'nt have much problem with her
Thank you so much for this video, Jen! Being held accountable is not being ‘hated on!’
Zero accountability has been taken yet again. Shocking.
I swear she once said that the company was handling her lipsticks with white fuzzy gloves to not leave finger prints and thats how they got the fuzzies. I think she even went onto say like why wouldnt they just use rubber gloves because those also wouldn't leave smudges..
Yup I remember that.
Not even once said, I’m pretty sure that was the excuse she was rolling with for a good while
She absolutely came out with that statement! I definitely remember that.
Yea it was her “no make up RUclips apology” video where she’s sitting cross legged on the floor and looks like she’s been crying…. Classic RUclips sob story fake apology video 😂😂
41:50 she's not just saying that people picked on her because "I'm me," she is saying that people picked on her specifically because she's perfect.
I don’t think that Jacqueline decided to shut her makeup line with Forma brands down. I have a feeling they told her she was done.
this is so interesting to revisit 5 years later.
It's hard to take anything Jaclyn says seriously. Even if the topic is addiction.
This.... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 (But her pupils are ginormous in her stories 🤡) Iykyk
Thanks for putting the truth out Jen ❤❤❤❤if it wasn't people like you and Marlena, she'd be able to lie to the public unchecked. ❤❤❤❤❤
Someone who makes makeup saying she dosnt care if her own makeup is contaminated is a red flag 🚩
I dont usually watch these type of videos as theyre usually all about tearing into the person theyre talking about. But you managed to cover this so fairly while being respectful to Jaclyn and giving both sides of the story which is commendable. ❤❤❤
I think Jaclyn believed her lies so it would explain how easily she can just spew it out. Great video as always.
I agree with you!
I don't mean to be rude, but have you watched the whole video?
that is what was concluded in the video. again, not trying to be rude at all, but *did* you watch it?
Can I just say I’d much rather watch Jen cover the shenanigans that are problematic influencers and liars than support them by views or anything. All I know is I’ll most likely never buy another collab again. From anyone. Which sucks.
A lot of people watch other influencers through commentary reaction channels for this exact reason
8:26 previously she said 1% was defective
17:47 the best labs in America 👀 When Marlena warned her 🤔 NOPE! It’s a no for me 🤦🏼♀️
19:39 yep you nailed it :)
Could it be that she's not only a liar, but also not really educated and intelligent? Maybe, she believes all this stuff, because her team tells her and she's so far from reality, that she doesn't understand anything 🤔
Or she's just a liar
Oh, they knew the lipsticks were bad.
They were just hoping nobody notices.
This is exactly what I was thinking. 100%!
@@Fawn0001 absolutely!
They had a quick crisis talk before and hopee for the best could be what happened. Only because they knew they were old and no quality control done.
Excellent episode Jen!! Thank you for all of your hard & diligent work!
I love that you referenced "I don't wash my legs" 😂 My husband and I still quote that line also! Jaclyn seems like she's been in denial for so long that the line between truth and lies has blurred and she's just in her own little world.
Defective?!😂🤥
CONTAMINATED!!💯🤮
Thanks for presenting everything, as always, so respectfully. ❤
Yep 😂. I wouldn't call shards of metal merely "defective", but I'm not Jaclyn.
If I was Jen, I'd have never sent mine back. I would've sent them to a private lab and have them culture these lip products.
I'm rolling laughing 🤣 😂 You really can't eat at everybody's house 😂😂😂
Potlucks for me are a thing of the past. Never again!
One of the many reasons why I adore you; your brain works just like mine. This video is everything! Well done, Jen!❤
Jen - I love your videos! You are so knowledgeable, well spoken, well researched. If I ever wanna learn anything, I make sure to watch you. 💖
The *dont wash their legs* comparison was hilalrious.... and somehow Sooooo accurate 😂😂😂
She is a spinner. Spins narrative to make her seem better and downplay her part in things etc. Fact check everything these days as it seems there are lies everywhere.
This concept that people bringing up legit concerns is "disrespecting a female business owner" is WILD.
The princess bride took me out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Omg Jen waving “where are they now” took me out 😂
39:13 saying this when she still calls herself a makeup artist... as if makeup artists don't have to be extra careful about hygiene... i find it alarming how many people who call themselves a mua don't give a shit about keeping things sanitary. and makeup youtube unfortunately is full of people whose videos are full of hygiene red flags. imagine paying a lot of money to get makeup done on your wedding day only to end up with nasty skin infection..
It's wild to have the full truth out there and still be out here lyin with your whole chest like that.
She's a lying liarrrrr
I have now been binging your content all night. I am sick as a dog and its helped me feel a littlr better ❤
Thank you for being a good human, Jen.
I can’t wait for Sunday’s anymore! I always look forward to your videos and to see 3 videos today? It’s going to be an awesome day ❤
Love how you explained everything in a way I can understand. Im taking marketing for business and the ins & outs can get so confusing.
