Man, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is STILL one of my all-time favorite racing games. If it ever got the HD treatment or just popped up as a port on the store, it'd be a day one purchase for me.
This game was the reason I got a PS3, too. I was so addicted to it. And Pacific Rift. And the amazing thing about the music was that it sounded like it’s actually played through speakers in the canyons. They added some reverberating effect to it. Just sounded awesome. And it’s actually from 2006 so it turns 18 this year. It wasn’t even supposed to be a real game start. Just a graphics and physics demo of what the PS3 was capable of but people loved it so much that they turned it into an actual game.
They actually removed the reverb sound in a patch back in 2007-2008 I believe, after the Devil’s Weekend DLC. There is a glitch where you can get it back though, you simply have to mute Curve - Hell Above Water in the track list, then the reverb comes back. I only discovered it recently, and I thought my TV speakers had broken. I never knew the reverb used to be there for real until someone online told me about the patch.
The most slept on and underrated racing game ever. Lost many day, nights and weekends with this gem. Also loved destroying the online community with my infamous pink dune buggy 😂
It was the atmosphere of the festival that got me. It seemed like a place I’d like to be at. The way the made the soundtrack sound live was incredible for the time.
Lmao, yeah I was in high school when I started my " gaming career " with NES Rad Racer and Gouls and Ghost. 28 was a while back for me but I'm still gaming and young at heart. 4? years old physically but 28 mentally. 😁🤘
I remember when this game came out. If you love Motorstorm and crazy crashes and crazy racing then give Motorstorm Apocalypse a go. I honestly miss Motorstorm games and wish they never stopped.
@@siltstridersftw the story wasnt too bad but the free play and pvp was floorless and so much fun. Not only that but the car customisation options and car selection was pretty dam good for a game of its time. I wish they made a remastered Motorstorm Apocalypse.
For a game that's over 15 years old, the gameplay looks like a ton of fun! The vehicle damage and destruction looked impressive and fact you can punch riders off of bikes and ATVs is crazy ha ha! I love it! 👍
I'm old, I was 33 in 2007! lol I grew up with Spectrum's and then Amiga's, had Playstation's from the first one, I still have a PS3, but mostly play PC games like Beam and Forza 😊
The entirety of the Motorstorm series is gold. I grew up mainly with Pacific rift and Apocalypse, later played Monument valley and Arctic Edge. They all are amazing and unique. I would explode into happiness if a remake or new game ever got announced. Like I'm not even joking, these games are literally my favorite of all time. Racing games just aren't the same anymore. And that is the reason I still to this day, boot up my copy of Motorstorm Pacific Rift on my PS3 and play for hours. Despite having played the game for 13 years, I never get tired of what the game offers. I recently actually bought a PS2 just so I could play the PS2 port of Arctic Edge, despite already owning it on the PSP. Motorstorm will be something I never walk away from and forget. It's tracks, music, vehicles, all are engraved in my memory forever. Lunatics Unite.
Well they made a game called onrush a couple years ago that is incredibly similar to motorstorm but will never me nearly as good as any motorstorm game for sure
This was the first ever racing game I played on PS3. And I had an absolute blast. Unfortunately, my old PS3 gave out so I couldnt use it, so I didn't see a need to keep any of my games. But omg, this game was awesome. I remember unlocking the big rig. I would literally go the wrong way and destroy everyone. I had so much fun. But I do remember some of the races being a little difficult. I loved the crash physics, the explosions. This game was and still the goat of PS3 games
Motorstorm was a great series. I never owned a Playstation console when I was younger but i did buy a PSP and bought Motorstorm Arctic Edge. Was a lot of fun.
Oh my god, this was my childhood. I absolutely adore these games, motor storm and motor storm pacific rift. This, paired with the offroading that I actually did with my pops growing up, created my absolutely love for off roading and desire to get into it. Lol, some of the music is so iconic and brings back so many memories. If anyone likes these types, I suggest going back to these, absolutely amazing!! Thank you for bringing it back Neil!
The ATV OffRoad Fury series was the entirety of my elementary and middle school years! It’s underrated af, and I’ve not seen that many videos of it on RUclips over the years. Physics in it were daaaamn good too
The second game I definitely played the earliest, then the first, never the third, but have the most time in 4. I love that game, and the build your way to the top aspect is awesome and sorely missed from current racing games.
2 and 3 are definitely the pinnacle imo. 1 was a classic with some bangers on the soundtrack, 2 narrowed it down but still kept it new and exciting. ATV 3, which I’d say I spent the most time with, was a mainstay in my life😂😂 I’d highly recommend it. The courses are more advanced, freestyle is more expansive, the AI is actually pretty Fukin good for what was 2006-2008 I believe, and they provide a decent challenge in the “story” mode. ATV 4, I played a little, but just freestyle and I just jammed to the soundtrack, which introduced me to Lamb of God and Audioslave🤘🤘🤘🤘 the story never really appealed to my preteen mind, but I’ll defo have to revisit it sometime😂 I always noticed to “championship; conquer to ATV Off-Road world!” Story aspect of 4 tho, and I felt like it was gonna click with some people🫵🏼😂😂 the PS2 really does have some unseen gems🥲 and another thing. Cheat codes. Genuine. Cheat. Codes.🥲🥲
Motorstorm is definitely one the most underrated racing series out there and I only ever played one of the games. Motorstorm Apocalypse was the one I had and the crashes made it hella fun but for me I always wanted some free roam in my racing games and I don’t remember it having any. Another great slept on game was Fuel, also hella fun with a huge free roam map
Noooooo wayyyyy!!!!!! I haven’t seen this game since 2013 on my dad’s ps3!!!! I was only like 3 or 4 at the time i played it but I loved motorstorm. Truly nostalgic.
Pacific rift was pure chaos and i loved it. It always has been cemented in my childhood playing it as a kid with my sister. The music, explosions, crashes, graphics. It was amazing. I really hope he plays it.
Neil you have to play driven to destruction (test drive eve) in some regions, it was the og ps2 destruction derby game and one of the few from the time that had good crash physics it's like a predecessor to wreckfest
Awesome vid, and I'd love to see more. I have about 5 years on ya, and yeah this game was mind-blowing when it came out. My first racing game was Gran Turismo 2 and originally played that, I was certain nothing could ever look better... and then this happened, and I was there all over again.
Bro I was JUST telling my wife that absolutely nobody talks about this game. This was the first game I got when I got my ps3 for xmas that year. So good
I remember seeing this game hooked up to a Ps3 when they launched and little me was enamored with it, look at the mud and water droplets hitting the screen, look at the awesome crash physics. It was just absolutely blowing my mind. I played the heck out of this whenever we did manage to get our own console and copy.
Motorstorm and Motorstorm Pacific Rift were awesome fun, and I really want to get set up with either emulating the games, or get the PS3 set up again on the telly cause I loved the games
This just brought me a good ol' flashback. I played this game once and forgot about it for over 13 years (didn't even know the game). It was great for sure!
I love MotorStorm so much, my cousins and I would play it so much. Both the first and second are amazing. The soundtrack was amazing as well. This video brings back so many memories.
Tip 1: if you find a screen in game and pause your game, when you move your camera around, it moves in the screen as well. Tip 2: if I remember correctly, you can repeatedly press boost instead of holding it to use it more efficiently. And you kinda mentioned how different vehicles work better on different paths, you should do a video where you take the worst path the whole race and see if you can win
Bro! U unlocked me a core memory!!!!! I had this vague memory of a cool ass game I've played when i was like 6yo....never remered the name of this piece of art!

I remember getting the ps3 on release for Christmas and playing this for the first time after coming from the original Xbox. The intro blew me and my parents away, I need this game back 😢
I'm 36 and seeing the main menu then the first track brought me back to when I first played it. I still have most of the tracks memorized. I even made My PSN icon be the motor storm logo when the game came out. So it's something that will stick with me until the end of time. And I do remember this game being hard at certain points. I know there was a race where you had to use mud diggers against big rigs, that took me days to beat, but it felt great finally winning the race bc it was the last gold I needed. Thank you for the memories, hoping to see about upload
Im just now seeing this post. I love Motorstor series! So underrated, I feel. I still play this today. I wish I had friends around where I live who was into racers as I am. This game has great destruction mechanics, graphics r still awesome after all these years. Recent rumors suggest and hint of a possible motorstorm reboot. I hope so! Love the video post!
A classic throwback in the UK for me was Codemaster TOCA touring cars. I remember playing tag on it with friends and just destroying each others vehicles.
My first racing game was Road Rash on PC in the 90's, iconic. Then SEGA GT 2002, loved the upgrades and arcade feel, never felt it got respect that it deserved.
How about a PS2 launch game that seems to be all but forgotten: Smuggler's Run. At the time, it had some of the largest maps ever seen in a game, about 5 square miles. Bonkers.
that was a nostalgia hit.. we jused to play this game at my friends house on playstation a lot back in the day.. was amazing.. kinda sad we lost touch growing up
Loved MotorStorm and all the games in the franchise. As a matter of fact, a group of people did end up reviving the servers for Monument Valley, Pacific Rift, and Apocalypse! There is a community of 'stormer's that are aplenty and pretty active. The community is still thriving. - Lunatics Unite
i love that Motor Storm is have a resurge in interest. if you can and you have the ability you should really emulate it on RPCS3 and see all that the community has created/done and the best part is they still hold their own online events.
The first racing game I really played day and night was Destruction Derby Arenas. Had a good style of racing and death match career mode, lots of unlocks and backstories as well as a banger soundtrack
Remember when this came out. I was in Target and they had one of those demo setups. My dad stood there with me while I had my neck at a 90 degree angle to see the screen. So uncomfortable but I remember us going on and on about how realistic it looked. We thought it couldn't get better than that. And honestly, there are moments where I'm proven right. I miss those simple moments in life.
motorstorm, burnout, and ski-doo: snowmobile challenge have always been my nostalgic favorites. definitely influenced my music taste as well. shame i havent heard more about them til now
I remember going to my friends house playing Pacific Rift for hours and end up spending the night because i didnt wanna go home to stop playing. If you could play it than im sure myself amd several others would be on an absolute nostalgia trip and would love to see it!
my first console was a PS3 and the first game i got was motor storm and i played it so much i knew the best routs and vehicles for those routs and the amount of nostalgia this game has for me is crazy, another one of my favorite PS3 games was blood drive i spent so many hours on both games.
Any old console racing game is amazing, and I will never not watch a video on one. One of the games that I played when I was a kid was Smuggler's Run for the PS2, and I would love to see someone else play it. Loved the video, thanks!
I remember playing this game, it was the game that came with my limited edition PS3 that was capable of playing both Ps1 and PS2 games which was huge for me (25yr now) and my older brother of 4 years. So this was the first PS3 game I ever played. I was so heartbroken when that PS3 died…
You should play Downhill Domination! It’s on PS2 and it’s from the creators of twisted metal, and the company that now makes the new god of war games. It’s a downhill bmx battle game. It’s insane
Yeah, and it had the original version of a Black Eyed Peas song that eventually wasn't so politically correct after a while, but I put the game on the level of SSX for downhill fun.
As soon as I get some some more PS3 controllers I’m playing this game again , buying them just for this game, this game brought me so much joy when I was a kid, anywhere from 5-10, I remember playing it again when I was grounded for a bad grade on my report card so I was grounded for a week during a holiday week so I was bored home alone for a while, so I ended up remembering that we had the PS3 in my moms tv stand, so when everyone was gone I hooked it up and played the game for a couple hours every day, brings back so many good memories
I have loved, currently still love, and am IN love with Motorstorm. This one in particular: MS1. MS2 was also great in its own right, but they changed the physics model, and to its detriment IMO. Still an absolute banger of a game. One of the only games I've ever truly been really good at online. Miss this game, and those days meeting new folks online, forming those bonds and seeing other racing "Gods" online regularly. It was an effing blast! I weep for the Evolution Studios of old. What a studio. Whatever members that had been absorbed into Codemasters, and their wholly-worse takes on multi-class, multi-route, offroad racing, makes me sad... I don't want style points, tricks to gain boosts, or other ancillary bits. Just give us great racing. Just like this. Please!
I had the score international Baja 1000 game on the Wii and this just gave me huge nostalgia for that game. They look almost like the same game with similar mechanics too. I remember the boost in that game was just like this, maybe without the blowing up part
What was your first racing game? Mine was Gran Turismo 3!
Dirt 2.0
beach buggy racing
Tank circa 1978
Moto Racers 2001 or Baja Edge of Control.
Forza Horizon 4

The community is still thriving.

i love that Motor Storm is have a resurge in interest. if you can and you have the ability you should really emulate it on RPCS3 and see all that the community has created/done and the best part is they still hold their own online events.
I miss those simple moments in life.
woah, 28 and getting a hungry nostalgia for the REAL triple a games we grew up with. huge mood. burnout and all that. yes yes
I loved this game and still have the game. Also for a throw back for PS3 Split/Second is also an awesome game that I still own.
This game was amazing when it first came out, I remember picking this up with my ps3 and playing many hours of this game over 2007
motorstorm, burnout, and ski-doo: snowmobile challenge have always been my nostalgic favorites. definitely influenced my music taste as well. shame i havent heard more about them til now
I remember going to my friends house playing Pacific Rift for hours and end up spending the night because i didnt wanna go home to stop playing.
Motorstorm?!!? Holy shit man! This is my childhood. I used to play this all the time. One of the best ever!
Please!
This was my first game and my favorite
I had the score international Baja 1000 game on the Wii and this just gave me huge nostalgia for that game. They look almost like the same game with similar mechanics too. I remember the boost in that game was just like this, maybe without the blowing up part
