They are a series of parodies of pre war public information films from the 1930's, (NOT 1950's) shown in cinemas. lambasting the prevalent attitudes in society at that time. The 2nd WW caused a huge shift in society. (In the Association football information film they mention the year. 1933)
@anonymousone6075 ?? If nobody ever thought like this. where would the humour be?!? Also NOT parodying an infomercial, it's mimicking a Public Service Announcement / PSA / Public Information Film! (like the ones about Road Safety, Child Safety, Nuclear Preparedness etc. etc.)
You must check out the rest of Enfield's spoof public information films. The accents are accurate for the 1940's period being spoofed. I find them wonderfully funny and strangely reassuring.
The really funny part was that “The Woman” made an astute and valid response about Government fiscal policy. That was inserted to show how much the attitudes were ridiculous. Though hey, if she has an opinion why not voice it and debate, not undermine. Great reaction
@@JitteryJay It's actually styled to really look like sometime in the 1930s-1940s. I'm sure as a kid Harry Enfield probably saw these kind of things on TV as a kid. But you're right that they really do an amazing job of creating a legitimate vintage feel. There are a number of similar ones he did.

Luckily we live in better times now , from those outdated ideas. More people are getting married, women are much happier now and society is in a much better place.
loved your reaction and glad you found it funny.. BUT.. its from the late 80s early 90s... i dont get why so many americans dont get this and think its a legit 50s public service announcement...
I didn't think it was "legit"... I just thought it to be a spoof of the pre WWII era scare tactics that the media likes to use so well. Thanks for watching!
It represents 1930s attitudes. Obviously the video wasn't made because the views are supported. It was made to laugh at. It might seem naughty to laugh, but what the hell! Anyone who gets het up must have a screw loose, because it's the dated attitude that's being mocked.
How do you get that? I understood completely that it was meant to be satirical... When I said it was "Brutal" I was referring to the manner in which the viewpoints were being made fun of... Sorry, it's just a figure of speech that I use.. Mostly when someone is being very blunt in their speech. Thank you for watching though!
Strangely, there are ladies that relish the role of a stay at home wife and mother, and are perfectly happy with it. You don't take any notice of these extreme feminist man hating types.
He did a number of these 1950's parodies - conjugal rights bed, self defense, women don't drive......
Nice.... I added all of them to my list!!
1930s.
@@susannamarker2582... it IS English. Don't you mean 'translate into American English'?😮

Funny - because it's true!
A classic.
Nice to have you back! Remember this is comedy! Written in the late 1990s to mock the public morality of the post-war years.
Thanks!

Its a parody of those times. But done in the 90s

Bring those times back I say 🤣
LOL
Oh for goodness sake it's a modern comedy parody.
You're not really getting that this is comedy, making fun of 1920s-1940s type "informational" films. It is MOCKING the outdated ideas about women.
Oh, believe me, I thought it was hilarious! My sense of humor is as warped as they come... I would have sworn that it was a film from the 50's LOL!!!!

Outdated doesn't mean bad.
This is why a lot americans still struggle. with clever wirtty sutle british parady and self depreation helps along with irony
Oh, I couldn't agree more! My sense of humor is what has brought me through some very, VERY dark times. People just need to lighten the hell up IMO!

Really? The divorce rate is more then half of all marriages with over 70% of women initiating the divorce. If anything it's gotten worse.
It's a parody of old public information announcements..

It wasn’t brutal but a satire on chauvinism.
Satire is completely lost on you

It’s made to look old
I hope you realise its a parody from the late 90s.... even back in the 50s it wouldn't be this blatent!!
Yes, I realize that. It looked like a parody of one of those old "public service announcements" from around the 50's or so. I love comedy like this!

LOL... No one should be dragging "woke" anywhere near my videos... Just sayin lol...
The skit is actually woke in the real sense, it's just that morons don't know what woke is lol
