This video was too long. Halfway through it, I got hungry so I left it playing and went to the kitchen to fix myself a sandwich. But then I found out that I'm out of mayonnaise so I went to a store. There, I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole life. But I'm really a shy person so I took up a three-year personality development course so I can introduce myself. She was very friendly and all, but unfortunately, she had a boyfriend. So I said, all good, I'm a mature person. I want the best for her and I harbor no illusion that I am the best person for her and she seems happy with her boyfriend, so I did not bother her anymore. But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it, I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already when I first saw her. Besides, I am quiet happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wants to live some other life without me in it, so I said, "Okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness." My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally can't take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, "you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get myself a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got so distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video." She said, "You know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer." So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it.
I personally love Hobo Johnson, and there are a few tracks on this LP I really do enjoy for a variety of reasons, but boy oh boy, what a let down, the man completely threw away just about everything that made his last album successful. The night it was released one of my first thoughts were “Ohhhh no Melon ain’t gonna be about this one bit no sir he will not” and that being said, I hope he can come back and spark up something more interesting in the future.
I Want You Back and You Need Help were both okay. Everything else kinda just sucked hard. If you told me this was a parody album on "woke" musical artists I would fully believe it but unfortunately its completely serious.
"I Wanna See The World" is the only song I actually liked on this album. Maybe it was just my personal interpretation of the song, but I thought it was a decent commentary on the American tendency towards viewing the world from a place of privilege. The rest of the album is the equivalent of setting piss on fire, though.
I interpret "You Want A Baby" as someone who's despair has driven them away from something that they may have wanted at a different point in their life. It's about seeing the future as so bleak as to let a partner go who might want kids or get married. It's not shitting on other parents for having kids, it's about how the narrator responds to anxiety about the future.
I think this sums up the whole album. The fall was a very romanticized and creative way to show depression and sorrow while holding on to some tiny amount of hope. This album however sounds about as far away from hope as possible. Idk how to explain it but I came away from the album feeling depressed myself
I liked The Fall of Hobo Johnson, didn't love it, but appreciated alot of the tracks. I found the cockroach skit to be kinda too long on repeated listens, and some of the shouting adlibs on tracks like Ugly Kid were unappealing - though it did actually endear me to his music after initially hating it. I gave it a chance because of the fantano review, and I'm still glad I did. But this is just sad. It really is like he wanted to get rid of all the good will that album gave him.
I loved The Fall of Hobo Johnson. That record is really awesome. This new one almost ruins it for me. Anything more than a NOT GOOD would have been insane.
"His next album is going to be Hobo Johnson Alienates His Fanbase... but what is alienating his fanbase if not this?" he really didn't know what was coming
i really liked his first 2 albums and i think Revenge wasn't actually that terrible, but i'm hoping that his next release will have more awareness of what went wrong while not trying to be patronizing. he teased a new song on his youtube a bit ago and it seemed pretty nice.
i liked this record but i can see why a lot of people dont, especially fantony got a lot of mental health issues i’m working through but this album has all of the melodrama that’s nice for me i get that it’s not super ‘great’ objectively but i had a lot of fun listening to it
I agree with you dude. There are some tracks/moments on hobos alum that are playful, lighthearted and yield to a very much more sensitive crowd. It makes me care for the young, those that may feel hopeless in a world overpowered by the cooperations, the politicians, or the other that he brings up in his lyrics which make him “feel fucked”. Imo there are cool and relevant topics he brings up, but I wish that they weren’t covered up by his topics of ‘depression’ or complete utter hopelessness (I assume that many more artists will dive deeper into these worlds social topics soon). Overall imo, this album didn’t deserve a not good - granted his faults just shine way brighter than his highs, after all his therapist says his ideals are great (but maybe this album proves that the shrink was just getting paid)😬
There's no such thing as objectively "great" . Art is perceived by our subjective lense and that's it, there is no objectivity. If you like, it's good for you. Don't let these people who don't understand that sway you
@@LordOfDhara oh dude i agree with you completely, i appreciate the words though. i can absolutely acknowledge the flaws and i’m by no means saying it’s a 10, but i have a lot of fun listening to these tunes

yeah same, but I think my politics factors into it a lot
Anthony, you do realize he’s not an actual hobo right?
I interpret "You Want A Baby" as someone who's despair has driven them away from something that they may have wanted at a different point in their life. It's about seeing the future as so bleak as to let a partner go who might want kids or get married. It's not shitting on other parents for having kids, it's about how the narrator responds to anxiety about the future.
You want a baby is definitely not face value lyrics, there's metaphors in there for more than just having a baby, it reminds me a lot of I Want a Dog
I think this sums up the whole album. The fall was a very romanticized and creative way to show depression and sorrow while holding on to some tiny amount of hope. This album however sounds about as far away from hope as possible. Idk how to explain it but I came away from the album feeling depressed myself
Let me listen to the album in blissful ignorance before I watch you destroy hobo mans career
This has gotta be the most unenthused I’ve seen this dude in a minute😂
I loved The Fall of Hobo Johnson. That record is really awesome. This new one almost ruins it for me. Anything more than a NOT GOOD would have been insane.
Fantano hates the homeless
I read the homies at first but applies both ways I guess
"His next album is going to be Hobo Johnson Alienates His Fanbase... but what is alienating his fanbase if not this?"
he really didn't know what was coming
i really liked his first 2 albums and i think Revenge wasn't actually that terrible, but i'm hoping that his next release will have more awareness of what went wrong while not trying to be patronizing. he teased a new song on his youtube a bit ago and it seemed pretty nice.
im not gonna lie though i think a non-demo version of Villian of Himself would go kinda hard.
Actually went hard on a guy he’s friends with, respect the lack of bias
He’s friends with him?
@@MW-tj8vc they did an interview a few years back, they seemed friendly
@@saccoli4919 being friendly for an interview doesnt mean friendship at all

Never have I been so disappointed with an artist I loved so much before
This is upsetting. I love The Fall Of Hobo Johnson, especially I Want A Dog.
He also likes the fall of hobo johnson
I want a dog is amazing. This new album is just not it though
This is hella different from The Fall of Hobo Johnson tbh
the fall of hobo johnson was so good. it sucks that this album sucks :((
@@peppercornucopia_ tbh ur right:/
My mans sigh was so depressed at the start 😭😭
I didn’t think it was that bad
i liked this record but i can see why a lot of people dont, especially fantony
got a lot of mental health issues i’m working through but this album has all of the melodrama that’s nice for me
i get that it’s not super ‘great’ objectively but i had a lot of fun listening to it
I agree with you dude.
@@maximiliant2448 i agree with this a lot, like this album is all over the place and it is WAY melodramatic and has tons of flaws. that being said, a lot of it can be really fun (as fun as depressing looks at workers’ rights and other issues if injustice can be)
i love how this entire video is done with moderate aggression
Hobo Johnson is The Front Bottoms in a different genre
This is the most disappointed fantano that I've seen in a while (with no countin' top)
The rise of Hobo Johnson is the Rise, the fall of Hobo Johnson is the Revenge, The Revenge of Hobo Johnson is the Fall
Damn, that 10 is really taken a toll on Anthony a lot, isn't it? Future albums won't even be close to his standards now.
Next album title : THE DEATH OF HOBO JOHNSON
i guess hobo johnson accidentally mixed up the titles of this record and the last one
His singing on this whole album sounds like hes making up the words on the spot
I strongly believe things *ARE* permanently fu ked, but that's never made me think something like activism is pointless.
A good deed is always good regardless of its consequences (or lack thereof)
Political participation for the sake of political participation is not an invalid stance to take.
Anthony got a new camera and I love it
It isn’t good when one of his first lines is “sayer of things”
Leave hobo alone man he’s the only one just being himself not trying to fit in and that’s what makes him genuine
He’s the only one! The lone real person in the hundreds of thousands of musical artists. All the rest are just trend chasers ranging from Kendrick all the way to Nickelback
This album was so disappointing for Tony that he even didn't transition :'v
Hobo Johnson vs Bo Burnham rated pg-13
The disappointment comes from them having an early interview before they both 'blew up'. They both seemed to genuinely like one another and had a 'friendship'
I can't believe this album actually made Anthony so bitter that he became borderline nihilistic only five minutes in
lmao he's still got daughters and swans in the background
I really like the song Anton levay I can tell I’m going to listen to that driving home at 7 am some day after coming down off of pills
Three tens in a row, incredible!
My therapist thinks you're wrong, but I love you all the same.
I think you got 'You Want a Baby' wrong. Its more about getting married and then plus having a baby would be way too much. Great song and I can personally relate
a 10 and a NOT GOOD in the same week. History has been made.
This man has dropped 3 albums how is he still homeless???
I was even thinking to myself a few days ago " It's been a while since the last NOT GOOD review," thank you, melon ❤
if it’s any indication of hobo johnson’s fanbase all three people i met who genuinely liked him have caused me some degree of trauma
clown upon em thats all, nice prof pic tho
@@raiden2369 lmao it's a relic of my midwest emo phase

It’s like going from a party in one day to a funeral to the next
Wow, three 10's in a row! We've made history!
10/10 immediately followed by a Not Good
Hobo Johnson’s found his calling: making music that is as unapologetically ‘unlikable’ as his character.
You can make music that is deemed "unlikeable" but still has a niche place for some listeners who will love it.
This album is just unlikable, plain and simple. Boring, boring ,boring lmao
@@corycosta1818 can’t disagree
