      Ok, so if you feel the LS50 is better, is it worth nearly 5 times the cost? I seriously doubt it.

    These are a steal at $450-$500 right now in a lot of stores. I just brought a pair home to test drive from a big box store and am pretty impressed so far. The soundstage is pretty incredible. I've got 5.1 already and turned off my rears and center and had to double check if my center was turned off. Paired with an OK subwoofer these bookshelves really filled my room. Vocals are super clear. Drum strikes on hq audio recordings were so clean you could almost hear the size of the drums. I don't think you are going to find much better unless you are willing to enter the $2000+ arena. I've heard b&w next to them and though they have a bit different flavor I couldn't say they were any worse. Haven't heard a soundstage this good from anything near this price point. Paired with a home theater receiver they sound great. I'd love to test them with a tube amp or schitt and see if they come alive even more.

    Just got my pair of these KEFs.... I have them connected in parallel to Elac Debut Reference Bookshelf Speakers to the rear of my Listening Room (Finished basement studio), to a Denon DRA-800H. WOW do this play so nicely individually but together too, sounds like a Concert Hall. The Clarity from the KEFs is amazing... Spatial where you almost can't tell where the music is coming from.. Oh Yeah I have small SW( Monoprice 60 Watt amplified SW), in the mix and a separate IOTA S3 / Emotiva A300 Amp connected to 1 pair of Fluance Signature Series HiFi Bookshelf speakers and a pair of Elac Debut 6.2s (different from the Reference model). When all is playing, I may as be Radio City Music Hall ... Happy Listening all. BTW, got the KEFs at Accessoriesforless.com ( Kef Recertified and warrantied ) for $449 a pair...

    • @Chiroman527
      @Chiroman527 2 года назад +1

      As an upgrade to my comments and connections. I have a pair of KEF Q350s connected to a IOTA SA3 Amp which is interconnected to an IOTA PA3 Integrated Premp, and a a pair of Elac DB62s connected to an Emotiva A300 Amp in the front of my Finished Basement studio AND a Pair of Elac DBR62s and a Pair of Fluance Signature Series HiFi Bookshelf speakers connected to the A & B channels respectively on my Denon DRA-800H Receiver in the rear. Previously I had the Fluances and Elacs wired in parallel (A NO -NO, per many bloggers). At higher volumes, the Denon would overload / Overheat and shut down. I have learned that unless the paralleling is with exact 8 OHM speakers resulting in a 4 Ohm impedance load on the Amp, it will overheat. That is what happened with the 2 pairs of speakers the Fluances are Nominal rated at 8 Ohms, However, the Elacs are 6 Ohms Nominal, resulting in a 3.7 OHM impedance , hence the overload. Now I finally wired each pair of speakers to the individual Channels on the Denon A & B. That works fine. Actually, I am lucky that the Denon like many amps total had Overload protection and shut it down or would have FRIED !! Thought I would divulge this info. Happy Music to All

    • @JilesMcCoy

I got a piece of pre glued real Oak veneer ( 1 ft x 8 ft, just right, 3 inch left ) for $50. looks real real good, only ?, how long will the pre glue stick to stock cheap vinyl ? sound, low bass goes down to 40 hz, as high end oriented ' stereophile' noted - bass resonance @ 45 hz. (google) 75 hz if ya kill the bass with the plugs.

    I love the Q series speakers! I listened to the Q550 and Q750 against Dali Oberon 5 and 7 at my local HiFi store. Went with the Q750. It features the same 6,5" UniQ driver as the Q350 and I have to agree with the review. Midrange focussed and smooth sound but also revealing. The presentation is rather laid back than forward. They need a fair amount of power I assume to sound their best. Bass quality and sound might differ, since the Q series bookshelves are bassreflex designs and the towers have passive radiators.

      I trialled the Concept 20s before picking the Q350s. Both very clear and analytical, the KEF sounding slightly more laid back in mid range IMO, and also having deeper bass response, and much more scale and a wider soundstage.
      The KEF are excellent all rounders for the money, they work great with pretty much any genre, but perhaps lack a little sparkle/drive at normal volume.
      But then, they're never fatiguing either.
      The difference in scale sold them to me, they fill the room much better and off axis performance is very pleasing

    Q350 smokes the LS50, it's not even a fair contest, much larger cab and driver, it sounds much larger and warmer but still has the detail, not bright, digs much deeper, port design is better and no turbulence, I've had the old ls50 and new metas, I like em alot for as tiny as they are, but the q350 certainly wins in every way than maybe imaging just by a bit.

      @@JilesMcCoy 3 inches taller and an inch or so deeper, I suppose it's because the ls50 has the curved front and does look smaller at first glance due to it not being square. It's not a dramatic size difference overall, but that larger driver sure makes for a better low end and I'm with you, I like em both, but I favor the q350 myself, I had the blue and white ls50 for 6 months then the titanium and crimson metas, honestly wasn't alot of difference between the original and the meta from what I could tell, wasn't worth the extra money.

      The Q350 woofer measures 1" larger than the ls50. The Q350 cabinet is 2" taller, 1" deeper. and slightly wider. The LS50 height and woofer size matches the smaller Q150 in size. In Canada, I bought the Q150 on sale for $300. The same size LS50 META is on sale for $1600, more than 5x more expensive! I hope it sounds 5x better!

Their beautiful and sound great nearfield or at 40-60 db, but the q350 can't hold it's composure up to a louder point and the bass is definitely alot heftier, too end isn't as bright on the 350, mids are as good, they get my vote, but I love the ls50 also.

      @@JukeboxAlley I own the Q350 and accept the bloomy low end (no doubt a byproduct of its empty unbraced box), but love the spacious pin point imaging. I also own the thinner brighter Q150 (but I preferred it to the much hyped ELAC UB5). I have an LS50 META on the way to see if the exorbitant price is worth every penny, or is over hyped. The Q350 can sound sweet and pretty. I'm hoping the META won't sound clinical and unemotional.

    My experience with Q350: Highs weren't accurate; 'S' -sounds sounded artificial. Lacked punch and drive; almost boring. Voices were lifeless and dark. LS50's are so much better.

      Thats not even close to accurate, I've had the old ls50 and new metas, the q350 wins in every single way other than maybe imaging by a tad, bass is light years better and no port noise like the noisy ports on the ls50 past 70-80 db, the ls50 is definitely not better than the q350, unless maybe you just listen to classical or strictly audiophile tracks.
