Hit the "Join" button under the video to check out more information! I'll be doing regular lessons with amazing musicians, and you can be part of deciding who I'll take a lesson with, and what kind of questions I'll ask!
I joined!
I would but you need faster cameras first. With a higher frame rate I can see somebody playing, but with what settings or webcam you're using right now it's right back to "hands don't glitch like that" lol
Honestly I was on a metrology team and if you can nail what you need down and get very specific then you can selectively cherry pick some nice scientific USB cams that can do the thing you need but only cost like maybe 300-500 - see edmunds optics or newport scientific and search "high speed cameras". You'll need a friend if you're not an expert - or just pay the big companies that make 10k fps cameras for 15k USD and It Just Works(TM).
Let us all have a moment of silence for the poor soul who had to transcribe Stephen's playing in this video. Matt, I'm sorry. RIP
They will be missed 🤟🏻R.I.P.😂
RIP
So many notes......💀
F
Matt must have needed the slow motion of the slow motion of vid...I sure hope you recorded at 300 fps. 😆
We need a Wes Hauch vid 😍😍
Or Teemu Maantysaari, who's taught Wes Hauch
Josh Middleton would be awesome on here. When it comes to picking technique and right hand stuff he is one of the best out there
Josh is the GOAT
he's a bit underrated Josh in the shred scene because he doesn't play a lot of crazy stuff, but he definitely can!
I mean he's known more as a frontman and a guitar player for Architects (which doesn't have a lot of crazy solo)
Josh/Sylosis reignited my love for guitar! He is insane live playing those sick riffs and singing at the same time. Would love to see him talk with Dean!
Best dude you could have picked, hes literally the most slept on guitar player ever dude.
Dude, ya dude.
You should get a lesson from Christian Muenzner and Brandon Ellis!
Definitely Brandon. Dude is such a monster guitar player and great guy.
Muenzner has played in Necrophagist, Spawn Of Possession and now in Obscura, an absolute legend and speed picking god@@grrttshw
Best of luck following Brandon
@@237iggy dont forget defeated sanity
@@237iggy the first thing that comes to my mind about Christian Münzner's technique is "tapping god" above speed picking.
Some of those INIFNITE legato runs with tapping were just way ahead of their time both in 2004 (Epitaph) and 2011 (Omnivium)!
The Helix Nebula is so fucking good. Wish they would release new music.
i literally jumped when i saw this video, helix nebula is so damn good
For me that band is so underated so far. No one know the universe they created on this masterpiece
7:58 When Taranto is impressed and starts asking you for tips.
his solo on Plinis Away is one of my favorites solos
Dude same
Same. I always answer "If I could play any solo" with the solo in Away. It's so so tasty.
That’s one of my favorite solos of all time! I didn’t know it was Stephen who played it
@@austinmayan8987 lol i thought it was Plinis at first, but then I learned it was Stephen, and then I saw him playing it, and i say to myself, shhiiitt it is more difficult than it sounds
ruclips.net/video/azrKHmgAQ0I/видео.htmlsi=ZZ8YPVJm5bQBmN2y
Hell yeah, always good to see more Stephen making us feel bad about our playing.
A dream guest would be Rob Jarzombek, his stuff with Blotted Science is just magical.
Second this, Ron is a mf legend.
that is one awesome suggestion indeed
Dean and Stephen?! Hell yeah! Stephen Taranto wrote what I believe is my all time favorite guitar solo.. his feature on the song “Away” by Plini is incredible.
That solo is given too little credit! Tasty and shreddy, what more do you people want?!
Easily one of the most unique and tasteful solos of all time.
That solo made me discover this guitar madman. And I have the feeling that I’m not the only one.
dudeeee huge fan of Stephen omg!!! So glad he's on this channel haha!
Stephen is a f@2%ing wizard. Props for the feature : )
In addition to Helix Nebula's only release - Meridian (2014) - I really enjoyed his solo album, Permanence (2019). Glad to hear there is more from him on the way!
Very good idea bro, looking forward to see more👏
Found Stephen on Instagram some 5 years ago through guitar videos. Lovely chaps you lot
What is absolutely wild to me is I used to work with Stephen at a games store in Sydney back in 2009 and he was absolutely psychotic with his guitar back then, and has only improved leagues upon leagues since then.
A moment of silence for Matthew
It's so surreal hearing Stephen's voice for the first time ever
Nice to see Taranto getting some love! Killer, killer player
The only problem I have with this is that it wasn’t longer lol love this type of content and would love to get more of it.
Or maybe I should join ? 😂😅
@@TherealstrikeforceI've never paid for a YT membership before, but I am really considering it for this video.

This is such an awesome idea for a series! I did a lesson with Jason Richardson recently, I wonder if we'll see him on here eventually 👀
talk about daunting task. dude is unreal
You gotta get Chris Storey from All Shall Perish he’s soo insanely good
These licks are insane, the hybrid one from Dean especially
Ooh tempted to become a member just for the full interview
I really want to see an episode with Gru, the guy that made "Cosmogenisis". Made one amazing album, and disappeared.
Thank you thank you thank you both
I have arachnophobia, so just hearing the name Stephen Tarantula terrifies me. He shreds like a beast AND writes insane music. Thanks for these exceptional interviews, Mr. Lamb. I think you're just great! 🤘
I am so looking forward to more vids in this series!
Well I know what I’ll be watching this weekend and learning for the next few months
❤
Love this series. Dean is an absolute animal so seeing him be inspired by another guitarists craft is fascinating
This was really cool. Great content! Please bring us more videos like this
super excited for this series
Anton Oparin would be a killer one! Anton was the definition of child prodigy back in the day and is doing lessons now. He the most advanced alternate picking technique in the history of the guitar and it's not even close!
This series is great! 👏🏽👏🏽
Please get Brandon Ellis!!!
What I'm loving about this is seeing two absolutely insane players kind of teach each other. Since I never took lessons, it's neat seeing musical conversations like this.
yall are both freaking beast
Always great to see Stephen getting some love! Wickedly skilled dude
Would love to see a chat with Sam and Eric from Aviations
This was such a great watch!
Stephen Taranto and Archspire. Essentially my Spotify history in one video! Love it Dean!
More of this please...
Ooh damn I love helix nebula! Look forward to this one.
Genius idea for a series. Subbed
Love this! Seeing you in a lesson with Wes Hauch would be sick!
You might want to ask the person on the other end to turn off noise suppression on whatever client they're using. Like Zoom has an "original sound" mode I think. That way their guitar sound won't get randomly squashed.
Suggestions: Wes Hauch, Spiro Dussias
Holy shit I'm gonna love this series!
Stephen is so badass! Great video, thanks!
Cool video and idea! Stephen has one of my favorite solos of all time on Radiatus
Little arms, HUGE skill!🎸💯
Dave Dave better be on an episode about hot jazz❤❤❤
Ohyeah totally!
@DeanLamb hope you boys find ur way to Massachusetts again!
We'll be in Boston in June! Come say hello!
@@DeanLamb I'll just take this opportunity to bother you, will you ever grace St. Louis, Missouri with your presence? I will spend several paychecks on merch if you do.
@@DeanLamb I'll be the one yelling Yazz Flute!
7:54 - the Hyperpicking sounds so sick and makes so much sense.
This is amazing! Not sure how I missed it.
Also, Andy Gillion would be sickkkkk!
Cool series... how about chatting with Kevin Heiderich?! His right hand is unreal
I love The Helix Nebula and Archspire. Juicy.
Dean and his hybrid picking. Unbelievable!!!
Would love to see one with Spiro Dussias. Guy is nuts. Also, loved when you became the hybrid picking teacher mid lesson
His solo on Joshua Travis's "Web Of Lies" is fucking LEGENDARY!
now.. this is content
Holy shiiiiiit this dude shreds!
Woooo this serie is awesome! Please phil tougas or christian muenzner next!!!!
You guys are fucking sickkkkk
this series will be sick
It had been a while but I went back and listened through relentless mutation and gawd damn that was such a good album. Bleed the future kills too, of course..
Formally requesting Brandon Ellis of The Black Dahlia Murder
Alternate picking gets easier if you do three note shapes, or odd Number divisions . I like using . Notes of gaps. It ends up being more fluid than you think after you kind of play with temp shifts
you had me at paul gilbert
You should totally get Jason Richardson on here
I love how Dean is still trying to learn new stuff even after achieving god tier levels of guitar mastery.
I'd love to see Adam DeMicco on here based on his downpicking alone. Great new series!
the best
First time I saw Taranto on IG in 2020 I got genuinely scared. The man is a freak on the axe
hyper picking is really cool, its not annoying, but youre gonna have to use it tastefully
If you're not subbed to Stephen (one of my favorite IG artists by the way) and The Helix Nebula on both YT and IG you're definitely missing out.
IIRC one of if not the first artist signed to Abasi Concepts.
Mr. Murderfingers, no lie.
Let’s see you get Phil Tougas on this 🤘🏻
I hope you do a episode with manuel gardner fernandes at some point ❤
4 levels of giving Matt an 8 string kiesle
Dean, PLEASE try to do this with Anton Oparin. I found him recently and am still recovering from shock.
Kevin Heiderich would be sick to have on here too!
The title made me expect Kevin heiderich
I make the same faces when I poop.
Great vid! Helix is amazing!
You should do Jennings Smith for this series
Earlier than last time!
Stephen is nuts
Seeing you like the psycho lunatic shred guys, you should check out Roberto Barros.
Found my new noodling pattern lol
Absolutely insane
It'd be a reach, but it would be phenomenally cool if you got A.J. Minette from The Human Abstract. Crossing the Rubicon and their version of Moonlight Sonata are just *chef's kiss*
Either way, looking forward to the next one
Watching two monsters do a lesson together is insane
I'm pretty sure Teemu Mäntysaari does online lessons, that would be wild. Idk if he's too busy at the moment with new Wintersun coming and playing in Megadeth, but try!
Can't wait for the Jason Richardson episode
You could get a bass lesson from Jared :) Or guitar, I know he does/did both, but it'd be fun to see you on bass.
For a few years now I’ve been saying that in all of my years of playing guitar he’s the only guitarist I am genuinely jealous of.
Also ask him about his thoughts on the Paper Mario TTYD soundtrack.
I think Dean is in love, damn.
Do Kevin Heiderich next :D
Next video : Dean gives a guitar lesson to his teacher!
Dean's hybrid picking pisses me off
It's so fucking good
What a great series this is going to be. Would love to see KangMaoMao on this, who you also reacted to in your archspire cover videos. He’s such a beast in the right hand that I can’t ever imagine myself playing like him. Also the Chinese guitar scene’s being growing a lot in recent years but hasn’t got much recognition internationally. So it would be fantastic if this collab can happen. ❤ from UK
jason richardson someday? and it feels bad to suck lol
