  • Let's work on keeping your welding helmet in top-notch condition. In this step-by-step tutorial, we walk you through the process of changing the batteries in your Lincoln VIKING helmet. All you'll need are your hands and some new batteries.
Here's a breakdown of the step-by-step instructions to successfully change your welding helmet batteries:
    1. Locate your cartridge inside your welding helmet
    2. Disconnect the grind cord that plugs into the grind mode button.
    3. Squeeze in the two bottom notches on the ADF cartridge/casing to release it from the helmet
    4. Remove the ADF cartridge from the casing by carefully pushing down on the top side of the casing, while simultaneously pushing up on the backside of the ADF cartridge. (The grind mode cord will trail behind, but does not have to be completely removed from the casing to change the battery)
    5. On the inside face of the cartridge you'll follow to the right side along the cartridge to find a ridged panel, this is where the batteries are housed.
    6. Push downward and swing the ridged door out to reveal and switch out your batteries.
    7. Once the batteries are changed, close the panel.
    8. Feed the grind cord through the hole before popping your ADF cartridge into the casing.
    9. Place the cartridge/casing back into the helmet and push the lock notches back in place to secure the cartridge.
    10. Reconnect your grind cord and you're all set!
