    This is my hobby and this is what I like to spend my free time doing. Yes I went a little overboard upgrading my slash, but I wanted to get the best performance out of it.

  • @CyconXc
    @CyconXc  11 лет назад +2

    Yes you can use your existing caster blocks, the only difference between the two carriers is the opening size for the bearing. I haven't had any problems with these axles. They're very smooth and they handled offroad perfectly. Really, even after many crashes these have held up great.

  • @CyconXc
    @CyconXc  11 лет назад

    Check the description, I just put it in. But with the aluminum parts it's $225 w/o the discount I used. If you use the plastic parts instead, it's $177. You also don't need as many bearings as I got, I just wanted extras incase one ceased. So that should drop it another $10.

    wow, this new school RC stuff is amazing looking and in aluminum and steel. nothing like my old, old stuff Ive got cars that are 40 years old up to about 2005 maybe all of it is 1/8 gas on-road and some off-road . Ive got about 10 unopened BMT 1/8 4wd onroad kits. I was sponsored back in the late 90's and they would just send me 4 kits at a time to rape for parts I must also have 7/8 kits with only a few parts missing. Get this I also have a couple of associated RC 250/300 2wd 1/8 and 2 complete RC 500 4wd 1/8 one is the older chain drive and one is a belt drive LOL.
    I don't want to look too much as it wouldn't take much to get me tinkering again. Have fun and thanks for sharing

    Those are the Team-RCE shock towers. They're really nice, they're $40 for each tower, but it's worth every penny. It's good for you becuase you only really need it for the back!

      Yeah I wish I could have done a second overview video after I did those other upgrades but here's one if you haven't seen it:

    Yes you will need to get new carriers, either the XO-1 or the Tekno. The XO-1 cvds are 6mm in diameter (stock 5mm) so you need bigger carriers to support the bigger bearings. The Teknos are plastic, but will get the job done.
    Check the description.

    Omg thank you soooo much for calling them axels and not drive shafts!!!!! Soo annoying when people do that.

  • @CyconXc
    @CyconXc  11 лет назад +1

    Yeah, lots of money went into this truck. I thought about the MIPs but I heard they were heavy, so I decided to go for something else. All the reviews of the XO-1 axles were positive and I wanted at least a couple more Traxxas parts on my slash lol, everything else is aftermarket.

    Thanks! Yes, these will work on the stock and rpm a-arms. The parts needed to build it are in the description.

  • @CyconXc
    @CyconXc  11 лет назад

    Yah, definitley worth it. I ordered 2 fronts and 2 rears. The tires at the end were Proline Bow-Ties in M3.

  • @steveskiba471
    @steveskiba471 10 лет назад

    That is one helluva rig man!!! I know it's your call but I would switch the A-arms and shock towers to RPM plastic. Eventually you will rip the hinge pins out of the bulkhead with aluminum arms. U will be way faster in the turns once you lose all that weight. RPM plastic will never break unless its colder than 50 F. If its colder than 40 F, snaps like a twig. Lifetime warranty though. I guess it depends if you want to race it. Looks sweet.

    • @CyconXc
      @CyconXc  10 лет назад

      Thanks for the comment Steve. I loved the RPM for bashing around but the truck needed some more weight for racing. I race on loose outdoor 1/8th scale tracks and the truck's lightweight just wasn't handling like I would have hoped. I like how it drove heavier, felt more planted. But the RCE chassis components are made of Magnesium, the strongest metal for its weight.

    No it won't be too short, you can use the XO-1 axles on stock or protrac length a arms.

  • @CyconXc

    Before I got these I was using the stock axles. They MIP are heavy, but if you don't mind that, I heard they were great! Seen some problems with the Traxxas steel velocity ones.

    • @CyconXc
      @CyconXc  10 лет назад +1

      Haha yeah that's me! It's taken a while but it's finally coming together! As far as upgrades, I would first grab the STRC bellcrank, STRC captured hinge pins and some aluminum hexes. Those are the most important upgrade you can get IMO, everything else after that is either visual or for minor improvement. It's a great truck out the box!

  • @CyconXc

    That's what I figured. The owner has been sick for a while and production has been slow. The still make all their products, like I said they'll just be out of stock until he can get things going again. His are the only ones I've seen with this design.

      +MrLuisom I'll have to check, I did the opposite. I have xo1 knuckles with slash output yokes. that gave me larger wheel bearings than either setup, but 5mm yokes instead of 6mm.

    Damn, there was a LOT of flex in the center drive shaft. Nice build, and do those XO-=1 cvd's work pretty good? I'm going to be getting a slash platinum this winter, and it has the aluminum upgrades that you installed already on it. I already have a radio setup, all I will need is a battery and charger.

    They look nice but not practical for the slash unless your real careful with it. The boots rip constantly. I've also seen them snap under pressure. The best axle you can buy is the MIP steel axles. Amazing quality and durability that cannot be matched.

    When you said "two different toe-in angles" that is incorrect. What you have are two different options for the vertical placement of the carrier axle, which provides two different suspension envelope adjustments, which will affect CAMBER angle through the range of the rear suspension's position, not toe-in.

  • @theloneriderzadventures

    That is really cool man. Now that they are xo1 axles are that more heavy duty now would u recommend using these in plastic parts? And are those 8th scale shocls? Lol i wonder if they fit rpm a arms.

    • @CyconXc

      Ryan R Thanks Ryan. You could use them with plastic parts fine, this is just what I had lol. But yeah they're 8th scale Hot Bodies D8 shocks, 97mm front and rear. They'll fit rpm just fine, you could even flip the arms around in the back if you want to.

I will just keep replacing my factory parts every once in a while as they are so cheap anyway. From the looks of your rig you do compete, so that's awesome.

      +Phil Collin's I run a RC group with 13K+ members called "RC Tips and Tricks" and I promise you, anybody that has an extensive and vast knowledge of the hobby will tell you that the slash platform is one of the most versatile platforms on the market to this day still, and on top of that, it is extremely well made and very durable. Same as with the Axial SCX10 and many others depending on what type of build your going for. But I am always learning new things so I am curious why you would say pick a rally car and then convert it since the rally is the same platform as the slash anyways? This is not a sarcastic question, I truly am curious as to the advantage of it? Thanks
