This guy is ridiculously talented: lyrically, instrumentally and vocally. I could seriously listen to only his music for the rest of my life and never be bored - this is including Thrice as well :P
I really like how he says that true love is a choice, and that he has set his heart to loving his wife. We have to lead our hearts, we don't simply fall out of love (or into love for that matter), we make the choice to love and we make that choice each and every day.
Why does there ALWAYS have to be a comment on any Thrice or Dustin Kensrue video that says, "I'm not religious, but I love this!" or "Praise the Lord! Dustin's Christian, you know. I love his music." We . . . don't . . . care. You're a fan and recognize talent. That's good enough. Take from the music what you will, that's your right.
It's not like Dustin just up and left. Teppei has a family too. It was a band decision, and while not all of them wanted it, they have all made it clear that they understand where each other stand. They've been together for over ten years. That's more than most groups will ever last, even ones more high profile than Thrice. And the best part is they are leaving the door open for opportunities to reunite in the future.
It pains me that this brilliant man only get's thousands of views, while so-called "artists" like Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Lil'Wayne etc. gets millions upon millions.
My wife and I tried finding a version that would work for our first dance, nothing fit snd I didn’t hear this yet. It was played but man, would have been incredible for our first dance
Think about it though... The ones that were recorded were more towards the end of the tour! Imagine playing three hours or more a few times a week for months straight! It would be difficult to keep your voice that solid all the ay through!
And scream162 he did not leave them high and dry. The boys needed a break from thrice to focus on other things. It's not easy being in the music industry and when you've been recording touring and performing there will come a time when no matter how much you love it you will say fuck it and walk away. But thrice will be back.
How the fudge is he playing this song?? I play this on my acoustic all the time, and he's hitting some of the same chords as I do, and I have the capo on the same fret. Basically it's only the verses that confuse me. His hand is down in the 9, 10 ,11 fret area while I play those parts in the regular Em spot. Maybe he's tuned different or he felt like being different.
He is playing open (top string) - 11th (A string) - 9th (D string) and then 9th top string - 11 (A string) .. you can play around with the d string on 11th fret
He left Thrice because he has kids to raise. he can do solo and gospel anytime but doing Thrice means he's got to tour. should he leave his family high and dry?

This song. This version. This man.
can't wait till I have someone to sing this to.
His voice sounds flawless live. Look at any thrice live video they are all amazing.
I was there that day. Literally one of the highlights of my life. The whole conference was amazing.
A wedding ring and this song. Very good music.

ryelor you don't have to care, it's just people expressing their opinion. If you're intolerant, then I guess that's your problem.
every time i have seen them live he is vocally spot on - Luke of Awaking Mercury

Loves his music and love this song
Amazing acoustic version of The Weight. I'm not religious, but I love this song, and LOVE Dustin's lyrics. Definitely adding this to my "covers" list
And do remember that the lads have been at it since their late teens/early 20s.

It's not about religiousness, it's about honor and honesty :)
As upsetting as it is that I never got to see Thrice I'm not bitter because of this. Dustin is still making great music and being a good parent.
This song is amazing.
this is what real music sounds like
We played this song during our wedding!

He was performing at a church in Washington, enough said.

I think that's them exercising that right...
Then you're missing out ;)
This comment is bad and you should feel bad
Dustin, most of us love your music. But dude, seriously. Noone cares about your religion. It just makes the whole thing worse.
