  • Saturday evening, June 18, after church in Rochester, PA, my mom, dad and I went to wait out on the NS OCS coming west. We drove down PA Route 65 past Conway Yard and noticed the OCS along with two other westbound trains stopped at East Conway. We quickly turned around and headed for the East Conway bridge. After NS 20R and 21J went thru, the OCS, train 955, was permitted to head west. After getting it departing East Conway, we quickly took off after it to Rochester. Enjoy!
    0:02 - I7N, 21J and 955 waiting on signals at East Conway.
0:30 - NS 170 power cutting off their train and pulling off the yard track and coming to a stop by East Conway Tower.
2:21 - 20R approaching East Conway as it departs east after receiving a new crew with 170's power waiting by the tower. The train crosses all the way over to Track 1.
6:31 - With 20R out of the way, 21J begins to pull west as I7N and 955 continue to wait patiently.
10:05 - 21E creeps up to its stop signal at East Conway in between I7N and the OCS.
11:19 - Finally, with two toots of the horn, 955 begins to head west as it leaves the other two trains behind with 4271 leading the pack.
13:58 - Relocating to Rochester, shortly after my arrival, 21J is seen again headed west after holding briefly at CP Rochester.
15:22 - Rail train 912 slowly heads east with a single C40-8W. As it heads away, westbound 169 is seen waiting at the Rochester signals.
18:53 - 955 now comes along as it heads west into the setting sun.
20:06 - After 955's passage, eastbound NS 34N comes thru CP Rochester with a UP trailing.
23:53 - 21E seen at East Conway a few minutes ago now comes along.
26:24 - 26E rounds the bend and thru CP Rochester and meets the one-unit wonder I7N which had also been seen earlier at East Conway.
32:46 - Finally, 169 gets its signal and proceeds west. While he gets underway, eastbound 12V passes by.
    Thanks for watching!

You mean to tell me that the Norfolk Southern is a viable passenger service in current times?

I think that train is for corporate sponsored excursions.

librsh and in this case, NS may have had the OCS a ways east on the AVR in Oakmont for the US Open Golf Championship that was underway at Oakmont Country Club. In 2007 NS parked the OCS on the single-track AVR line in Oakmont itself for almost the entire week of that championship.

They parked two Iowa Interstate locomotives there a couple years ago

No, most of the time when Norfolk Southern has passenger trains/cars in use it is for management and seeing how their employees are doing.

Nice video when you weren't jiggling your camera around. Here is a pro tip. Go to where you are going to shoot, set up your tripod, affix your camera to the tripod and hit the record button. If you want to pan the camera, do so slowly.
Also, pick a place to shoot from that is in such a position that passing cars and trucks will not interfere with your shots.
