It's me again :) I really enjoyed this vlog, since I'm interested in pursuing a master degree at Parsons school, but I'm not confident about being able to handle with the classes cause my major was quite different. Do you know if the classes from the master degree are way to different than those from the Bachelor ? I mean do they required a previous knowledge in fashion design? Did you have to have some previous knowledge in fashion before entering into this bachelor /major? Thanks a lot
I have a question- since you’ve switched majors at Parsons, can you lose your scholarship when switching majors-? I’m currently debating on what major I’m going to apply to but I’m scared that if I get in for one major and decide later that I was to switch I might lose the scholarship
TLDR: No you won’t :) you get your whole first year to decide your major and switching after just means you will potentially be there for extra time. Don’t worry yourself over that going into the school! You won’t be penalized for switching until after your first year- everyone in first year goes in and takes the same classes and you declare your major at the end of the first year. Your major on your application does permit you easier access to your program if you end up deciding to go for it, as you don’t need to apply to switch into the major if you intend to stay in it. *But it isn’t a death sentence and I don’t believe you lose your scholarship.* That didn’t happen to me! I switched between majors (fashion to integrated) and it happened pretty smoothly. The result of if you need to spend extra time at the school is all based on how curriculum overlaps between majors, and often most don’t have much overlap. My switch was specifically quite easy because Integrated Design is designed as a pretty free-flowing and multimedia approach to art. But a switch between fashion design and, say, interior design could be more complicated. But again, not horrible and happens within the school for sure. You’re totally normal for having this question! I did too! I am glad I went to Parsons because they give you extra time to figure this out and try things that other art schools don’t give you.
