      Hair on the body is a secondary sexual characteristic - leg hair, pubic hair, beards etc. Therefore when androgen levels rise body hair becomes thicker. Scalp hair isn’t a secondary sexual characteristic, it does not respond that way to DHT. On the contrary, high levels of DHT make our scalp hair fall.

    If you are having a one off procedure then FUE is a good option, but if you think you might need further procedures in future to get the result you want or you are a young patient, under 35 years old, then you have to consider how much donor hair you will have left to transplant if you are embarking on several procedures over the years, because in effect you are losing hair density at the back to create some coverage at the front and top, and after one FUE there is less donor hair, if you have another FUE you are likely to have used up most of the available donor area, for this reason it would be worth considering an FUT which is the strip method, so a strip of scalp is taken from the back of your head and the gap is sewn closed.....so you still have pretty much 100% donor area left, and from that strip the follicles are dissected under a microscope....FUT is a bit more invasive but is still the gold standard in hair transplant procedure, talk to a surgeon who does both FUT and FUE procedures and follow their advice as to which procedure is most suitable for you, factors include your age and how many grafts you require and whether you are going to be a patient who would need more than one procedure over a period of time.

    • @ioannisathanasiou3865
      @ioannisathanasiou3865 Год назад +4

      FUT was the gold standard 15-20 years ago. The gold standard now is the FUE approach. Look at the statistics. Generally speaking, the surgeon, if he/she is a professional he won't recommend a hair transplantation if you have progressive hair loss, which typically happens between 20-35 years for male pattern baldness. Hair will become weaker for most people as time goes by, that is the natural process of aging, however, if you spot a stable hair loss after your thirties go for it. Who cares if you do not have the density you want in your fifties? You are 30 only once.

    • @Tate525

    • @bobbylee2853
      @bobbylee2853 6 месяцев назад +1

      They aren’t. Scalp tension is the underlying cause of male pattern hair loss. Basically, tension reduces blood flow thus reducing oxygen. DHT is converted from Testosterone in the low oxygen scalp and concentrates there and binds to the follicles nutrient receptors. The baldness only occurs above areas under tension. This is the essential factor. Hope this helps.

    So, you losing your hairs from donor area, then transpanted hairs fall from yout scalp in several years and you got baldness from back and front sides. That's it. Just wasting money and hairs. Don't be a fool.

  • @Gundam4

    2 questions. Does the donor hair grow back? And how much does this procedure usually cost?

    • @reddo6092
      @reddo6092 2 года назад +31

      The hair you extract will not grow back in the donor area. That is why it is better to make sure your surgeon knows its stuff. Donor area management is very important. If you want this procedure done, start conservative. Less is better.
      As for cost, depents on where you get this done. Turkey has a high amount of specialist clinics. But don't pick one of those cheaper "all inclusive with hotel and stuff" offers. They are usually not that good.
      Prices are usually per graft. A graft is a single extracted/reimplanted unit of hair. In the US, prices are somewhere around 6-9$ per graft. In Turkey, prices are around 3-5$ per graft, but you can also get operations with a fixed price of around 2000-3000$, I wouldn't recommend those though.
      If you really want this done, please don't cheap out and jump on the cheapest offer available. Make sure the clinic and the doctors know their stuff, even if that means you have to pay 2k more.
