I dunno that going out and putting the franchise on shakier financial footing is any answer. I get it, who doesn't want another superstar? But man, you're arguing with yourself. Before all the injuries the trajectory of this team was almost straight up. They didn't lose any critical pieces and have some young strong NBA players, a few of which could earn star status in the next year or so. Then add in one of the only college players in history to earn back to back MVP who flew below a lot of analysts radar to be a great steal that also fills a huge need. I think we might just want to wait for the season to start and pray for a relatively injury free season. Might be surprising the ESPNs of the world.

what does shakier financial footing mean? No nba team is on shaky financial footing, the grizzlies specifically are a multibillion dollar asset owned by one of the richest owners in sports

@@grizzliespod then why doesn't every single team just blow to the highest spending level? Or are you saying the grizzlies are greedier than other teams? Not claiming to be an expert, but if finances are no concern, not sure why anyone tries to stay under the cap. My original point of not caring about getting new players until I actually see the grizzlies team play together for an extended period stands. If they do play together and are a play in team, then maybe I'll listen. Until then I'm fine with wait and see. Not just fine, pretty damn excited.

@@gregmitchell4475No one is asking them to spend money just because, or asking them to add a superstar. Asking a team who's mistakes have been, in the words of its GM, "tripling down on youth", to add proven, vet pieces is not asking for a lot. Especially when ALL the other true contenders have done so. And just about all of them are spending into the tax. The Grizzlies haven't even used their MLE one time to add better players. That's not contending team behavior. All the other contenders have added multiple veteran players every year over the past 3 seasons. The Grizzlies didn't add any proven playoff veterans this off-season, they added youth again. Expecting rookies and 2nd/3rd year player, w/o playoff mins to be consistent in the playoffs is unrealistic and a bit foolish. That just isn't the way to get closer to winning a title, which has been proven over the history of the NBA.

I’m sorry, but playing and coaching basketball my entire life, and being around a lot of very talented coaches and players, I and pretty much every other coach at any level would tell you that your take on Gigi Jacksons shot selection moving forward is actually wrong and the reality is quite the opposite of your take. IT IS EXACTLY because you and all of us Grizzly fans and hopefully the organization itself… because we all expect Zach Edey to be such a presence in the paint and potentially be a great offensive rebounder, coaches will tell you that’s exactly why Gigi Jackson should be farther incentivized to shoot from long range and shoot shots that he normally would have hesitation to shoot. The term is, “you have rebounders in the paint, let it fly”. This will just create a lot of opportunities for Edey to go and make a play, or Gigi gets you 3 points.
