    Really encouraged by how Zach and Wells have looked. Allows for a bit of flexibility. Grizzlies don't need 3 PGs on the main roster, definitely not 2 6'2" and under. SPJ also has not looked good against better competition. I'm with you, they should still improve the roster. If Edey, Wells, and Huff continue to trend upward in the regular season, I'd see what the market is on Laravia, Konchar, Aldama, BC, Kennard, and Smart.

    Jaylen wells also plays good defense as well as his offensive stats. He's a keeper - I don't think I'm the only fan who was tired of Zaire or other players still on the roster who we are waiting to see their potential. I want to see Wells, cam, Huff andothers play and contribute to the Grizzlies success.

  • @carltonberry137
    @carltonberry137 3 дня назад

    How are you comJay Huff deserves a spot based on merit. I would play him with clarke because Huff plays on the perimeter on offense to set screens or shoot threes - they would make a good combination. Santi can start at 4 with Edey until J3 comes back then you make a decision who is going to be the swing guy because you need all these players if you plan on competing for a champiionship.

  • @na_k
    @na_k 3 дня назад

    Grizz should sign 2 proven vets, but they won't. They'll continue to money ball it. Considering, I'd give Huff the standard contract. I'd definitely put Aldama and Konchar on the trade block. And depending on how Huff and Wells look around the trade deadline, I'd check the market for maybe...MAYBE BC and Kennard too. Sorry BC & Luke stans, but if I can get Cam Johnson, Deandre Hunter, or someone similar, I'd do it. I want the Grizz to have the best roster possible and compete for a chip.

      What do you have to say after the Bulls preseason game? Are you still worried? I am biased I am a Purdue fan. In the Hornet game you saw Edey miss those open 3's. I assume Edey has been working on that part of his game just to show he can hit a wide open 3. Being a preseason game I assume the Coaching Staff decided to let him try a few. Obviously he has work to do on hitting the shot. However I assure you Edey eventually will be able to hit those open 3's as his work ethic is off the charts. Edey had bad games at Purdue. But one thing Edey even himself admitted is he never took a game off... This is why he is such a fan favorite. Matt Painter stated not being a highly recruited player with expectations made Edey highly coachable. I'd be shocked to ever see Edey sign a big NBA Contract and half Blank his way through his NBA career happy to collect a paycheck.

    This game showed that the 'backup PG by committee' idea is trash. Neither Smart nor Konchar, the 2 starting guards, had one assist. WTH? The new offense is trash. We have a championship level team. With trash coaching. To everything you said they choose to use him incorrectly. The same thing they do with JJJ. Why is Edey passing rebounds out of the post. Obviously The coaches told him too.

    As always, you have great points. Not nice that Edey had 2 bad games indeed, but I felt that all of our main guys except Brandon Clarke played bad. So I’m not worrying a lot until the regular season starts. I hope there’s time to make progress to this new system until then

    Zach Edey has been playing basketball for 6 years. The guys you love were probably in 4th grade when they were playing their 6th year. Relax. He will learn everyday, he's a psychotic worker without an ego who will do whatever the staff tells him to do. His confidence will grow and his game will constantly improve. Luckily he doesn't listen to the noise. Noise like people over analyzing after a few minutes of playing time. It'd be nice if people would hold off their "expert" analysis until we get 20 to 30 games into the season. Unimpressed with this panicked analysis. It seems so wildly early to say any of what you said, and it's disappointing.

    I'm always at a bit of a loss with the narrative about bigs who don't stretch the floor, who "clog the paint" and by implication don't open driving lanes for their guards. By definition Steven Adams clogged the paint for two seasons at the Grizzlies, shot ZERO 3s, but clearly had no issues opening driving lanes for Ja and Bane, sometimes screening two players.. Both had career-best efficiency finishing at the rim when Adams was on the floor - and the eye test confirms that. I think it is a trope that has become a bit of a lazy take. I see no reason why Edey can't live in the paint and create space and driving lanes.

      One of my biggest hopes is that Zach can/learns how to screen like Stevo. I think it gave us an advantage a lot of nights and Zach definitely can be better than Steven in that role. Our goal should be to achieve being versatile enough to adjust as needed. There will likely be games/times when Edey can’t be on the floor and we have to be prepared to still flourish although not as much as some expect. Time will tell.

  • @matthewthomas9896

      Zach Edey hitting 3s is the difference between him playing 25 minutes a night vs 35 minutes a night. If you want Edey to stay on the court he needs to find ways to be impactful without giving max effort on every play.

      @@Jewdah18 he’s a true big he should punish the other team. And he is a great free throw shooter. He will get his threes the easy way. The problem with our coaching is we keep trying to make specialist all around players.

    So you’re telling me the grizzlies can struggle in every playoff series because of our dogshit half court offense that sees Ja playing in front of all 5 defenders the whole game, the coach talks about a new offensive game plan based on movement and passing, and you instantly label it as a scapegoat for if we’re bad?? You have too much fun being negative my friend.

      not so sure about your listening comprehension, fellow keith. i said IF the team starts slow, "overhauling the offense" is probably going to be a big thing people point to (also nothing about that analysis is negative)

      @@grizzliespod it threw me off how you really only talked about how things could go bad. IMO the “new look offense” is what we should be most excited for outside of Edey. I like Ja PnR but our playoff offense is honestly a joke. It almost reminds me of the rockets with Harden. I don’t think that play style has ever made the finals. Getting more guys involved could def help us get a good shot earlier in the possession. I think Santi, VW, and Jitty will especially benefit. If the offense works well, I feel like the only thing stopping us from contending could be injuries because I think Zach edey will come into the league as one of the best rebounders.

    More than a 3 pt shot, I hope Ja develops a consistent floater and midrange jumper. Rebounding is absolutely a skill, it's not just want to. It's been a problem for the Grizzlies the past 2 post seasons, yet they won't address it by adding better rebounders. I don't get it.

    Watch Steven Adams’ interview from yesterday. Adams said he will be able to play this year but it is a two year rehab process with a year to go. He said will have to be careful. That takes him to the end of his contract.
