I like FF7 Rebirth, but better than BG3 or Elden Ring is a stretch hahaha. Not to discredit FF7 its incredible, but it doesn't push the industry forward like BG3 or Elden Ring
@@JasonDunna to be honest, Rebirth is perhaps the most ambitious game of all time and certainly unique for JRPGs, particularly in terms of production values and quality. BG3 was truly groundbreaking for gaming but Elden Ring less so. Elden Ring is 100% based on Dark Souls and does practically nothing new in terms of gameplay other than transferring the Souls formula to a open world and becoming massively mainstream globally thanks to the GRRM hype. I'm not saying that Rebirth is better but if we look at the critical consensus on Opencritic, Rebirth with 93 is just behind BG3 96 and ER 95 in the score. I say Rebirth is definitely competitive in many areas, cast, story, gameplay mechanics, soundtrack (400+ tracks and 90% are godlike), combat (9 different movesets and unique animations for each character), art design and world building.
@ I disagree. It’s pushing the boundary for quality in remakes of old games. @@VikingZeroReviews BG3 swept the award shows last year but a loud group of people wanted Spiderman 2
Prince of Persia The Lost Crown
I like that take
With the line up of judges this is going to be bad.
Im scared hahaha
Black Myth Wukong is the possible GOTY
Stellar Blade seems like the runner up
Helldivers 2 is fun but it might win a couple of awards
Don't know much about Metaphor I've seen gameplay it looks fun
Yeah Im with you Wukong is incredible. Astrobot just added Eve from Stellar Blade which is kinda funny
Gooner blade are you high?😂
@@CrimsonBladezz rather have that than that shitty Dragon Age Game
Silent Hill 2 Remake is my GOTY
Solid choice!
Kinda hoping for elder scrolls 6 new annoucment at game awards
@@SpaceRacer7048 oh man me too that would be legendary. Lets hope for something like that
Dragon Age, Concord, Dustborn are the top 3 candidates for GOTY.
@@chilam2512 HAHAHA yeah you right on that. Garbage of the year
Rebirth. 100%. Incredible fun and an absolutely wild soundtrack. So much to do it dominated my playtime in 2024, and I was happy with that.
Rebirth is incredible I agree
Shadow of the erdtree sweeps
Yeah I didn’t know they were allowing DLC but I just saw that. SOTE was my favorite release this year
@ sorry didnt mean come off as rude if i did thank you for replying love your content
Definitely didn’t come off rude! When I made this video they didn’t announce DLC was eligible or I would’ve had it in the video for sure!
Tekken 8 for me
Thats a solid choice, fighting games sadly don't get nominated often
I love tekken
My goty is Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Man me too it’s the best release this year, but sadly can’t be nominated as its not a standalone game :(
@@JasonDunnais there a dlc nomination though this year?
Satisfactory 1.0
Remember I said it!!
Writing it down Master Yoda!!
Stalker 2 will not count?
Nope, nominations announced this Monday Stalker 2 comes out on the 20th.
@Moori2163 ohk
I wish because it will be a good game
@@JasonDunna true looks like one of best
Imo. Yakuza infinite wealth EASYYY WIN.
Solid game
@JasonDunna can u make a video about it please and give it goty
Never forget Palworld. This game is tons of fun
Loved Palworld but I fell off it. Might be a bit tricky due to the legal trouble at the moment but the game is genuinely fun
Astro bot Will win GOTY
That would be sweet to see a platformer win
Astro bot have a chance????
Oddly enough it does
If wukong is making it, I will be surprised. I bet the "limited" character customization will keep it away from the win, although it should not be so. Not every game needs to have female or male option. Ff7, wonderfull, only downside: still can't play as sephiroth 😂😂 just a joke, I play him now defeating the elder brain, pfft.
Astrobot looks sooo funny, I loved mario sunshine, one if my best childhood memories ❤❤
Yeah I’m scared Wukong won’t get a nomination but it deserves it, the game is fun! It’s a toss up between it, Astrobot and FF7 rebirth for me
You can play as Sephiroth in Smash Bros Ultimate thankfully!
Mario Sunshine was one of my favourites growing up as well, its most people’s least favorite of the 3D Mario’s but the setting was just so good
@JasonDunna you're right! Smash bros, I totally forgot about that!
Nooo, sunshine was awesome! And luigis Manson!!!
ff7 rebirth 1000000% deserves to win. Better than both BG3 and elden ring IMO. Stellar blade is also really good but I think it would have been better if it was a little less similar to NieR. Wukong is great also
You’re on crack of the lowest quality if you think ff7 rebirth is better than baldurs gate 3….
It’s fine if you disagree with me, but I don’t even think elden ring is close to the best fromsoft game, or that good of an open world game, and I personally feel like games like dragon age origins do what bg3 did way better
@@firstorderblade4432 while I agree with the Elden ring not being as ground breaking still it’s not in the same league as bg3…da origins it’s still one of the best dark fantasy rpg ever created as well…while ff7 rebirth it’s a great game and great remake bg3 it’s in a league of its own.
I’m not gonna lie. The games were kind of boring this year.
No huge standouts like the previous years, lots of good games but nothing spectacular and game changing
FF7REBIRTH was genre defining, Dragons Dogma 2 was super unique, Astrobot was amazing, Metaphor was a great art piece and jrpg, Space Marine was raw fun a blast from the past, Helldivers 2 was a shock success, Hades 2, Animal Well
We also got smtv vengeance, tekken 8, yakuza, p3 reload remake, and balatro
Silent hill 2
Solid choice
My bet is on Astro bot or possibly helldivers 2
Astrobot would be huge
I really don’t think BMW belongs in the game of the year convo. It was a good game and media and user seems to agree that it’s about 8.5/10 games. There were at least another 2-3 games close to the 90 mark this year. For example, Like a Dragon deserves it way more imho. One of the best turn based combat game ever
I respect the opinion! Black Myth Wukong is a solid game but there’s a lot of people that don’t like it too
L take
@@Grumpy_Bomber Why should BMW be considered for game of the year when I can name at least 6 games that did better critically and by user score? It’s a solid action game, but nothing ground breaking except the visual fidelity.
@ cope and seethe 🤣 it’s a joke you think the critic score means a damn thing 🤣🤣🤣
@@Grumpy_Bomber I think if both critic score and user score is in agreement, it means something. Both are at 81-83.
I’ve played BMW, Elden Ring SoTE, FF7 R, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Astrobot, Metaphor, and Unicorn Overlord this year. BMW is not better in my opinion than any game in the list, and BOTH user score and critic score are higher for these games. Have you played any of them?
Definitely not space marine
That game was garbage
How???? Bro the game was a hit and one of the best warhammer games ever made, and praised tremendously.
Yea Warhammer 40k space marine 2 was pretty fun and I’m not even a big Warhammer fan
@@tevinpickens8491 the game is 6 hours long and the combat is so shallow and simple. Literally pressing 1-2 buttons against enemies for 6 hours. $110 dollars . I thought it was gonna be 3rd person doom but it was a journalist level game
@@JasonDunna it was fun killing small spider things for 6 hours? No challenge, or mechanics, or engaging scenarios. Literally walk forward, press one button against 2 enemy types and win.
No extreme standouts like BG3 or Elden Ring?..well duhhh..because this year has 3 extreme standouts. More competitive than the year of those 2.
What are the 3 extreme standouts?
Nothing this year pushed the gaming industry forward like BG3 or Elden Ring did
@@JasonDunna Astro Bot pushes the industry forward showcasing that platformers outside nintendo can still be done and is a crucial milestone for Sony.
Metaphor Refantazio pushes the industry forward by reinvigorating life into the Fantasy genre through its incredibly strong vision and message
FF7 rebirth pushes the industry forward by showing what remakes are capable of.
All 3 carry big significance within the industry and their respective genre.
Elden turd was trash and only won because of covid
@CrystronHalq they are all good games. Not game changers like bg3 and elden ring
@@CrimsonBladezz hard cope
Nope.
Nope what
@JasonDunna sorry, just side commenting.
You MAY be 100% correct in YOUR predictions.
I just see a bunch of unworthy games; console/anime stuff as well. Simply a generational view of things. Nope sufficed, for not getting into a whole thing.
It's like the Drsgon Age 3 thingy, looks like a game you remember. But really a woke agenda piece of trash. Or a Fallout micro transactions move. Or even a Diablo style/GTA... keep player agitated... this must = fun.
I'm just looking at the grand scale and see nothing in these offers. That's all.
Rebirth is an embarrassment to the original they made a multiverse story and about fate ?? Story is garbage
found the nostalgia merchant
@ how ?? just make the remake with the same story. instead of some multiverse kingdom hearts ass about fate. You’re just aerith and Zack fangirl
@@quickswick6177 Remake and rebirth are better because the story is different. Rebirth wouldn't even have a chance at GOTY if it was just the same game with a new coat of paint. There is also more of a reason for new and old FF fans to play the games because there are plot twists now that people don't see coming. It's the same story unfolding but with a different path, and most people love it.
Also no, i'm not an aerith and zack fan"girl," aerith is still dead at the end of rebirth. Nothing changed. My favorite characters and cloud and tifa and their stories are unfolding normally just like they did in the original
@ she’s not “ dead” that ending was ass it has Ubisoft map design and full of bloated nonsense and the only thing great about this Combat and if you’re going to make changes what they did here is not good wtf is sephiroth in this. This why this game didn’t sell well the story is hot garbage Zack being alive how that in the original ?? If it’s unfolding the same as the original than KEEP IT not this whispes of fate BS
@@quickswick6177 Aerith is literally dead you see her die. You clearly haven't played the game and you're just huffing copium
The game awards have recently clarified that DLCs can be nominated for any category, even game of the year, which is not a coincidence. Everyone knows exactly what that means😂🤣🤣🤣 Elden Ring sweep 🧹🧹🧹
BWM !
Yessss
