VOX Tone Tips: MV50 Line Out With Effects
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 окт 2024
- The MV50 amps have a built-in cab sim on the line out, allowing you to record direct or play directly into the PA. If you prefer using your reverb and delay in an effects loop, you can place them between the MV50's line out and your audio interface or mixer. This is perfect for players who love clean and articulate effects after their amp;s preamp section.

Nice, but why not just add a send/return to the amp? Is it much more expensive?
Great video. I was wondering if anyone else had thought of this trick. The one snag I have is with the power supply. The MV50 head is centre-positive and takes 19V which is all but impossible to find in a pedalboard power supply. One very important thing that I'm not sure anyone else has mentioned here is that you should NEVER use the SPEAKER OUT jack to plug into anything other than an actual speaker cabinet. Make sure to only ever use the LINE OUT or you WILL ruin your MV50.
That’s why the speaker out is Red
@@cobowe What does it mean? It's both Speaker out and Line out?
Great video. How about Chorusn Phaser... Or a Noise gate? Would that work with a cab or justw wit the FOH signal? Cheers
Excellent concept.
Can we use mv50 as our preamp in pedals chain? Like i put it after drives. Or we need to put it before all pedals?
I'll try and be brief as my story is quite long, but in short I've tried to play since early teens and through health and confidence problems I am a lot older now and have only "dabbled" with my guitar once or twice a year. I have not learned any more and am probably worse than I was as a teenager.
I've been wanting to downsize and try and start over, looking at the MV50 (especially the BM version) and in forums many say that "Clean" is the only way to go so you can use pedals decently. Many knock the MV50 for its lack of "Effects Loop".
But this is essentially it, right? The Line Out is the Effects Loop, right? Why do many people not know this? Is it a poorly advertised feature?
I'm looking at either the AC or the BM, I would like to run a tiny bit of reverb to help make my playing sound a bit better, and maybe down the line add something like a Blues Driver and a MFX Pedal. Which version would be best for that?
Can you still get those Kenny Echizen leads?
Or, just add an fx loop. Mystery how they don’t have one.
Would it work if I plug headphones instead of going into the interface ?
Why do these not have an effects loop built into the line out with a TRS jack?
Ciao! Cool tip. How does it work with distortion/drive pedals? Is it the same or should I put the drive before the amp?
Think of placing the effects after the line out as an "effects loop" setup. If you want your distortion to hit the front end of your MV50 and interact with the amp's gain, you should place it before the amp. But you can certainly place it after for a different sound
Hello, Correct me if i'm wrong, abut if your MV50 is set up anything like mine, you are actually coming out of the "headphone" jack.
_/commenting for posterity if anyone's looking for answers going forward, like me._
The headphone jack also doubles as the Line Out jack [and cab sim]
[I have the MV50 Clean so I double checked with a product pic on sweetwater's site to see a pic of the AC version with a jack that is labeled "Phones/Line".]

-cheers!
Ok, but why? The purpose of an amplifier is to AMPLIFY the sound. Distortion/overdrive is a pedal function. I have a MV50 Rock, and the value of it is the amplification power with mobility.
By the way, I have 2 Vox in my pedalboard:

I shall try this. Cool
Excuse me my friend, line out or cab sim out?
Line Out/Headphone jack has the cab sim.

This is gold
Please reissue the UL series amps from the mid sixties
If I plug in my Cab will this work? Lol
Isnt the OUT connector drastically reduce the sound quality?

omg these comments.
how do you people not get lost All Day?
I think the point people are making is more that this would be cool as an FX loop as well, for people NOT using direct in’s

👍
If I'm playing a Sunday morning service or in a casino??!
Besides, this "work around" is useless if you wanna play through a speaker cab.
So basically its: guitar to amp - NO CABLE OUT TO SPEAKER, cable to Phone/line output - then FX, then speaker cabinet?
You didnt mention the cabinet even once..
This is for direct line out recording. If you’re using a cabinet, use the regular “out to speaker”.

he wasn't using a cabinet. kinda the whole point of the video.
Use both
