As a native Texan, these were all new to me although I have heard of Stringtown you mentioned in relation to Oatmeal. Glad you are finding these treasures in my home state and bringing them to us. Perhaps the last town you showcased got its name because the post office got tired of receiving name suggestions and said, “I guess it shall remain Nameless!”
Recently started watching your channel, have really enjoyed following you around seeing those places through your eyes. Be Careful on the road, hope you carry.
The buildings all looked so good yet, and have survived a good number of years. I am glad the locals have kept them up and in such good condition. We do not get to see such craftsmanship displayed this well much anymore. In Europe they have buildings used daily that have over a five hundred and even a thousand years under their rooves. And here, it is hard to keep anything with around a hundred years of service from being demolished.
I live in Nameless Texas not far from the school, The abandoned area across the road was the NVR or the Nameless Valley ranch. It was huge in its heyday and they used to host a children's summer camp there. Now its being bulldozed for a subdivision.
That abandoned thing is the back side of the Travisso development off 1431. Google has it as "Nameless Ranch Road" and it's a very short jeep road that dumps out into Travisso. I'm somewhat surprised they didn't pave it to go all the way through. I bet most of that shooting you heard is from the Eagle Peak Shooting Range. Great video. :)
Nameless is now the name of that part of the road. That name on the sign is because that is Nameless School. It’s now part of Leander,TX. Oatmeal TX still has a yearly oatmeal festival. I live near both.

Keep these damn videos coming as I'm a professional procrastinator and I sure don't mind your help John ! Safe travels out there and thanx for taking me along.
I live not to far from this area, near very large non-ghost town of Austin. Texas has other non-ghost towns with interesting names, Comfort, Welfare, Utopia, and Dime-Box.
@@TravelwithaWiseguy These are all in the central Texas hill country which is very scenic. Another east Texas town with an interesting name is "Cut n Shoot". Out in west Texas, there is the town of "Bovine". I have been there and it smells like you think it might smell.
I live off Nameless Rd... Pretty pissed off that they renamed it on Leander side. I remember when my granny and papa went to vote on the name when I was little. Everyone already called it nameless Rd so everyone decided that would be the name. I will never call it Hero Way West.... It will always be nameless Rd to me. I've lived here over 40 years.
There's also a huge castle out there too Also Rolling Stones magazine did a write up about Nameless Rd too .... Back year's ago before when Calkins county store got given to Bob Calkins kid's.... They didn't keep up with it.

@@TravelwithaWiseguy you could have... It belongs to the county... They just have that fence up to keep the kid's from breaking it down and using it as a hang out.
I appreciate the comment, and give me a chance to explain why the videos are how they are. Believe me having my face on camera is not something I’m a big fan of, but I’ve been told by people a lot smarter than me that having a connection with the audience on RUclips is important and the best way to do that is to periodically talk into the camera. Your comment about being on camera for 10 minutes is obviously exaggerated because the entire video is 7 minutes long and much of it I’m not on camera. Less than half actually. The other thing is I don’t cut anything out because I’m talking to the camera. That’s why I almost always have a musical part of each town I visit. I do have several videos that I’m not in front of the camera at all too. It’s hard to please everyone. I get more comments that people wish I talked more into the camera 🤷🏼♂️ I appreciate the support thought and I hope you keep watching and fast forward through my face 😂😂
@@TravelwithaWiseguy I appreciate your swift reply. & to be fair I wasn’t being critical, just offering a suggestion. Will still be watching your videos,as you do a wonderful job.
I actually live a mile or two away from “nameless” and I mow the schoolhouse and cemetery. The schoolhouse as you said is inside private property but the school grounds are actually county owned! And allowed to visit. Cemetery is also accessible from the same gate. Indeed as stated, the community got fed up with their names being rejected and said “we shall remain nameless!” To which the postal service approved.
Who would have thought a coach from Wichita State would have the best RUclips travel channel? I wait for these to drop with great anticipation.
Oh wow that is too nice of you to say. Thank you very much 😊

I have never heard of any of these towns. Texas is amazingly huge. Thanks for the tour.
Oh my you’re right about that! Could spends months there. Enjoyed your video yesterday behind the scenes!

In Leander Texas
I think it nice that you give these old abandon towns one more day in the sun.
Thank you 😊 I enjoy it!
Great video! I love your sense of humor. Saving the drone to fly another day. 😊 Probably a Wise idea, no pun intended.
Haha thank you! When a town is named Oatmeal or Nameless, the humor writes itself 😂
You were smart not to let it fly during drone season in Texas.
😂😂😂
What unusual names . Folks had a sense of humor with a love for grapes and oatmeal. Maybe? Neat places still sharing togetherness.
I always love a town that has a creative name and sense of humor!
Great video. The name of the towns are fantastically unique!
Thanks! It was a fun day learning a little about them!

At grape town the stone building would lead you to believe the natural stone was close by!
It's the Texas Hill Country. The whole place is nothing but rock!
Even a stone privy!
for some nameless reason ya didn’t fly the drone , I appreciate & enjoy your videos !
Happy Easter He is risen!

Another great video. Thanks
Thanks again! I appreciate it!
