She is very well spoken and confident when she is talking about things. I also like how she is upfront and honest about things she doesn’t know. She just admits that she doesn’t know or she is unsure when asked about certain things. She doesn’t try to pretend that because she was once a Goddess she knows everything or doesn’t even care what people might think if she says she doesn’t know having been a Kumari once. I think the whole experience of her being ex goddess and how she got adapted to this modern environment and the way she express that is amazingly beautiful. We can't even adapt when the season is changing and she has to get adapted to a whole new life. It's overwhelming and she explained that experience so beautifully.. And the way of showing our culture in this podcast is like preserving our culture. So many people don't knw about kumari. I think this video may help to give knowledge to them who are unknown. And one day I would like to visit kumari and worship her.
such an informative podcast. I hope this puts positive light on those people banging in the name of child rights, spreading bad messages against Kumari tradition. Infact the experience is something a Kumari girl adorns her whole life. Its such an honour to be Kumari!!! Thank you Sushant pradhan and Chanira Bajracharya. this was so insightful!!!
9:10 As the story goes The King (Jayprakash Malla) used to play Tripasa with Goddess Taleju in secret. One day while playing, he had sensual desires towards her after which she disappeared never to be seen in her true form again. His only penance would be to build a temple in her name where she would reside as a virgin girl until she comes of age.
My question is why didnt they stop the chariot immediately when Kumari predicted something bad and why didn’t they took extra precautions about the king's family when the Kumari started crying continuously?? It was such a great episode, so good to know all about The Kumari Goddesse! Jay Nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵
Who would know if Royal family would die that night just cause she cried? Anything could have happened. But yeah about Chariot they could’ve stopped or could have though about it.

Thanks for the podcast. It was amazing to listen to living goddess. The only thing missing was the financial side. Pay, perks and donations etc. At one point she mentioned pension once retired. I know finance is a delicate matter. But thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of info.
Bro please Preeti shakya lae pane bolaunu na show ma she's also a former Kumari from Kathmandu. I think her story might be more interesting nd different than patan ko Kumari.... anyway great podcast show ❤️
There is a common perception that the role of being a Kumari deprives young girls of their rights as children. However, what people fail to consider is the fact that the entire country, government, and even the girl's own parents worship her as a divine figure. While in the past, there were certain aspects like education and socialization that were lacking, these have improved significantly over time. From my perspective, I believe that being a Kumari is a privilege for girls, as they are treated with reverence and regarded as living goddesses, unlike an ordinary girl.
I remember living in gabahal when i was kid so I remember her , she use to live just across a street . As Kids I and my friend use to play around we saw her sitting at window sometimes but we never talk or became friends just a smile thats all she is beautiful and was so cute whn she ws kid
I think the podcast was really short … Could have asked more questions also , about her aunt who was former kumari as well and who has been living as kumari till today …
Hi Sushant, what an awesome job you are doing. Love listening and viewing to your podcasts. Possible to get them with subtitles so that we can share with wider audience ? Just a humble suggestion.
I am not sure how many of you guys know that there is one more Kumari in Lalitpur, Bungamati. Bungamati is also a home of Red Machendranath ( Ratho Machendranath ). There was a big Ratho Machendranath Temple which was destroyed by earthquake and still could not able to build it.
