The pastry on that rat’s coffin sounded nice and crunchy there 2 and nothing better than the standard versions of these Aussie favourites and those prices are pretty spot on these days.
I’m hard pressed finding a good bakery where I live 2 Aussie so I’ve been making my own pies and sausage rolls ( as I have a pie maker and sausage roll maker) and freezing em because of the cold weather. I was a baker/pastry chef back in the early to mid 2000's man, when I use to make vanilla slices I use to do pink icing on top of them and also add passionfruit on top and icing sugar, was a top seller at the bakery I worked at it was called pink passionfruit vanilla slice. Your feed looks delish man.
I'd recommend Oatley Pie shop if your ever in the Sydney area, one of the best pies I've had. There's an awesome pie shop in Glenbrook closer to you which I love too & Ken's Humble Pie shop in The Entrance. If you go out those ways, try em out. All fantastic bakerys!
Looked good. I don't know if it was vietnamese but i find they are the best bakeries as they make bread french style. Are usually reasonably priced also.
Hey Brett, yes back in my last year of highschool 1979 we put a sausage roll in a buttered bread roll. The idea was to remove the pastry first, place the meat in the roll, a squirt of tomato sauce and that was lunch. Damn it was good. The pastry usually ended up been tossed at some Geek 🤓 passer by... Who probably owns the company I work for... Later years it was a Battered Sav in a bread roll with sauce. Try that, it's Fazmagorical... Nice pie, sausage roll, croissant and "engine mount" today. 👍🤤😀

Glad the vanilla slice is not breaking apart cause they all do. I think the piece of a pie is standard price and has been for a long time. The sausage roll wasn’t long but it was thick and again that price is standard. You’re lucky the vanilla slice wasn’t $8 that size. Many cafes are half the size for $5. Well that’s Canberra.
$4.60 for a pie is cheap... where I am in Central Queensland small town they charge about a dollar more than that . They do something once a year called a pie bun.. a pie inside a bread roll. Never tried it though. I assume a "Snot Block" is vanilla slice? never heard it called that before lol.

As a fat American, we had something like this here at UCLA called Garlo's Aussie Pies. Smelled delish, but sadly these closed down.
