I'm an old black man that graduated HS in 1976. Take my word when I say that this album/ song was floating on the breeze in 1976. I loved your reaction to this classic! Thank you so much! I saw him in 2016, he was great! His son opened for him. Excellent show. Thanks again and peace and love to you both.
Nice take on it Russel, you nailed it. Class of 78" here. I went to a concert on this tour. Day on the Green, 1977 Oakland Ca. Kids came in from all over the Bay Area, the crowd was huge. Everyone was in a happy, fun mood. It was an even mix of guys and girls. Everyone was into Frampton. We were packed so tightly up front, we could barely breath. Just a ton of sun, pot smoke, long hair on everyone and halter tops. I remember Peter talking a lot in between songs. For so many cities, this was easily the event of 1977.
I saw him on this tour, World Series of Rock Aug 15, 1976 Hawthorne Race Course Cicero, Illinois - Peter Frampton / Lynyrd Skynyrd / Gary Wright / Yes. This was one of the most amazing shows i have ever seen.
Is it any wonder that this is one of the best selling albums of all time? EVERYONE had this album back in the day, and this song just puts you right in the middle of being there at the concert.
I've still got mine, along with a couple hundred others. I've been buying vinyl over the last 8 or 10 years, but this one I've toted with me all over the world
I'm a summer of 69 baby. I remember Peter Frampton playing this song on Midnight special. My African American dad listened types of music while working on his car. I remember so many 70s musicians. James Taylor, Eagles, Frampton, and Rolling Stones. That's when live music was real and the best!!!
It’s true. My sister came home with this album in high school and I instantly fell in love with it. Every single teenager owned this album!❤❤❤ What a great time to be alive. I miss those days with that kind of music
The strange noises you could hear was a voice box that's attached to the mic that runs straight down into is electric guitar. So he basically could play is voice through the guitar.
Doesn't that description have the danger of making it sound electronic when it's not? The guitar is plugged into the Talk Box like an amp. Except instead of amplifying the sound wave and then transmitting it out as a pulse from a large speaker for all of us to hear, it only amplifies it a bit and then sends it as a tiny set of pulses down the hollow plastic tube that leads to his mouth. As he plays, the guitar sounds then emerge from the tube in his mouth just as the vibrations from our own vocal chords move into our mouths to be shaped by our lips and tongue into words or other sounds. So the sound wave from the tube replaces the airflow from our throat and vocal chords. After that, the mic picks it up just like it's his voice.
@@s.mcpherson6354 well its never dangerous 😆but to be honest while I was typing what it is I was struggling to explain how it works, you covered it better than I did.👍
That not how that works. The talk box is a small low powered amp and a small speaker in a box. When you turn it on, it mutes the guitar signal going to your main amp. the sound from little speaker in the box is funneled into a long clear plastic tube, which is taped or zip tied or what ever to the mic. You put the end of it in your mouth, and attempt to form words while playing notes, (it ain't easy) and its picked up by the microphone. Before the talk box, there was "the bag", same exact thing, but in a bag slung over your shoulder. Stevie wonder had one of the first ones, Jeff beck got one shortly after.
This album came out while I was in high school. It was a must have for every teenager. I was one of those 8 million! Being a teenager in the seventies was great.
Saw him in 1977 in Philadelphia. 91,000 people. He is awesome, even at his age now. This album was one of the best selling albums. All he wanted to do was play guitar, not sing. But man did he produce an awesome, exceptional album. Watch him on the Midnight Special. You can see him perform it.
@@fasteddyc3472 Yes sir. Dicky Betts, J. Geils, Lynyrd Skynyrd as well. What a blast. Actually going to see Lynyrd Skynyrd June 11. Know they’re not the originals, but love the music nonetheless. Frampton was, and still is, my all time favorite. I’ve seen him four times.
I use to come home from school in 1976 in 7th grade and put this 8 track in the player and listen to this song 10x. Parents were still at work so I made sure the neighbors could hear it. Didn't get any homework done.
Graduated high school at 17 in June 1973. Did not know anyone who did not own this on vinyl when it ruled the air waves. Talk about a period for music. We've seen a lot of different genres but the 70s tops anything that has come along since.
I still have this album in vinyl in my collection because I'm that old. I danced around my bedroom with this album playing on the stereo, blasting, back in the 1970s as a teenager. We were so lucky back then to have such great music every day, on the radio, playing long tracks. It was a golden time.
You both have to react to the live performance to see how incredible this performance really is with his guitar playing and using the talk box through his guitar when it’s mostly used with a keyboard, this is 76 with no computer even thought of back in those days to generate the sound. His pure love of what he does shows through the live performances. Baby I love your way, is another one of his songs and you got to do live to see his joy and the love everyone has for him and his music. He is in top ten of guitar players Rolling Stones Magazine. Much love to you both!❤️
Before Frampton made it big with this album…..he played with Humble Pie…and before that he was one of the best session guitarist around….you spent your 14 minutes with the greatness of someone called Frampton….and he is still alive….

One of the best rock songs to come out the the70's. Frampton was on everyone's stereo back in the day. Everywhere you went, this song was ringing out. Absolutely my all time favorite to listen to. Frampton is still alive to this day and continues to rock. One of the best guitarists around.

The story behind this double live LP is one for the ages. I was 17 when it came out. It was the first time I, or basically anyone I knew had heard of him. It instantly became one of the go to records whenever we would get together. Amazing times..
Good memories this song/album brings me. I do remember my last years at high school. I was 16 when this album was released. I do remember listening this song at full volume on my Marantz Hi Fi stereo.
The Hiel talk box, using an air tube, electronic signal from the mic and guitar simultaneously, produces that sound. It was also the beginning of the tech used in the pitch correct pedal designed in 1979 allowing singers who could not sing in tune, to have their tone match the band, no matter what they sang into the mic. It was a precursor to auto tune. You notice as soon as tech evolved to allow people to cheat, MTV sprung up.
Yep yep I was in junior high school back in that day. And he was all of it back then saw him in the 70s 80s and 90s but back in the seventies he was on fire
This album came out during my junior year of high school and everyone went out and bought it (I think I still have mine). I was fortunate enough to see Frampton play a few times with Ringo's All-Star Band. Ringo Starr (Beatles) has done many tours where he had several other top-tier musicians playing with him including Peter Frampton and Michael McDonald. The cool thing was that they would play Ringo's hits like, "It Don't Come Easy", "Photograph" and "Act Naturally" but they also did the guest players' hits like this song for example. It was very cool.
There is lots of video of him ( at that age) doing the song.. you can see what he does to get that sound.. if you want to do one more.. Do Frampton’a “Lines on My Face”
EXCELLENT choice!!!! It's long, but it's an immersive jam that never gets old; I could listen to this every. single. day. I'm 54 and was fortunate to grow up with young parents who had this live album; grew up with SO much great music. Love how you both felt it and smiled!! Keeping the music alive 😊
"Frampton comes alive", was the biggest selling album in 1976. And one of the biggest selling albums ever. I had the 8-track and then the cassette. Then of course, the CD. Still got it. Keep up the great job you two!
DUDE!!!! I love love love this song! In 1976 I was 17 and I joined the USAF the next summer. 1976 was THE summer we all remember. This song came on every morning as the sun was coming up. And when I was leaving the parties I heard it driving home for a month. This song says who I am. Do you feel like it do? We have casinos and legal medical marijuana here in Oklahoma. Do you feel like I do?
transport yourself 10 thousand miles over here to Australia and time travel back 47 years and you would see that the smiles on your faces from hearing this for the first time now, were exactly the same as mine was when I first heard this album / song for the first time.
I have been listening to the Frampton Tour De Force since I was 25 yrs old , I’m now 73 and I still listen to Do You Feel Like We Do at lest once a week!!! Never gets old!!!!
Such a blast to see these kids so into the music I grew up with. I found this same vinyl album at a junk bazar and bought it for my seventeen year old daughter, and she absolutely loves it. Never heard of Frampton till the moment I gave her the record. Music as a generational bridge. Awesome.
Frampton Alive was one of the best live albums out. He uses the squeak box to make his guitar talk. The same way Joe Walsh is known for it and on the R&B side Roger Troutman of Parliament Funkadelic.
Oh God I LOVE this album! I was 14 when my mom bought it for me at one of the big department stores in our state. We didn't have a lot and my mom knew how happy this album would make me. The store had just started using clear plastic bags and I made sure on our way out that everyone could see my purchase. Frampton was great!!!
Something tells me Mom probably knew and liked a little bit more about the album than she let on simply because EVERYONE knew about "Frampton Comes Alive" back then.
Props for playing the version I grew up with. Bought it when it came out. Still have the lp. This was back when music had a lot of freedom. Miss those days.
It doesn't matter how many I've heard this, I get literal chills every time. Frampton is one of the best guitarists of all time.
we will never have this level of talent again
Out all the reactions I’ve seen your channel is the best by far. Your reaction to the keyboard was priceless.

Yep! I was 16 in 1976!
Hey, check out, Sugarloaf- Green-Eyed Lady, for a 1970 groovy-@ss jam with rippin' organ solo, very progressive for the time.
Thanks Recklezz for a cool Friday evening chill. This performance transcends generations.
Do you feel...
transport yourself 10 thousand miles over here to Australia and time travel back 47 years and you would see that the smiles on your faces from hearing this for the first time now, were exactly the same as mine was when I first heard this album / song for the first time.
This is the only version that should be reacted to. Such an amazing song!
I have been listening to the Frampton Tour De Force since I was 25 yrs old , I’m now 73 and I still listen to Do You Feel Like We Do at lest once a week!!!
Never gets old!!!!
I graduated in 79. I grew up with all this stuff and 6670s. Glad you’re finally getting to hear it.
Such a blast to see these kids so into the music I grew up with. I found this same vinyl album at a junk bazar and bought it for my seventeen year old daughter, and she absolutely loves it. Never heard of Frampton till the moment I gave her the record. Music as a generational bridge. Awesome.
Wanna see an unrivalled keyboard performance, Nightwish-greatest show on earth
This one made y'all SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have felt like they did..............
@@williamtaylor4545 Haha! I never thought about that. Good point.
First and foremost Peter Frampton was an ace guitarist and still is. Played with Humble Pie. Great group also. Outstanding musician.
this album rocked my world! i was 12 years old and it was everything to me!
Props for playing the version I grew up with. Bought it when it came out. Still have the lp. This was back when music had a lot of freedom. Miss those days.
Best concert ever! 1976 with Gary Wright (“Dreamweaver) as the opener. Both awesome but Frampton really Came Alive 🔥❤️
Tickets were $6 🤩
