Outstanding !! Use to collect the old springfields and M1917s and used those slings all the time. Don't have any of them anymore. Gone in another direction with my rifles.

Nice how-to! Now, can you tell me if the Kerr slings are better, worse, or just different when used shooting a rifle compared to the great web sling the US used for ages.

Which great web sling are you referring to? The Mills web sling was first issued for use with the Krag rifle in tropical conditions, about 1900. The Kerr was issued to supplement the M1907 leather sling, which was the primary sling throughout both world wars. The M1923 web sling was only issued in small numbers at the beginning of WWII, and then mostly for SMGs, and the M1 web sling began to be issued in WWII and up through the end of M14 issue. They can all make a loop for a hasty sling. I have no idea if one is better than the other. The M1 sling lasted so long primarily because it was cheaper than the leather sling.
