I hope this engine was blown to be rebuilt man... I hate to be that guy but i almost shed a couple tears watching, these engines are incredible and around where I live they are impossible to find... This is like watching someone abuse a dog or something, I would seriously give away my right testicle for an engine like that... It's just that those engines aren't made anymore and blowing them up without rebuilding them would just be a True Shame, seeing as they are very sought after by many People, and eventually they'll go extinct.....
as an outboard mechanic i can understand why you did this. the powerhead is not worth anything at this point. there is a reason one cylinder was lacking compression (fuel delivery usually, meaning melted piston/scored cylinder) and that itself costs alot to fix. the bolts for the block are usually corroded and completely stuck requiring many man hours... then after tens of hours and several thousands spent in parts and labour you're still stuck with an old block that is most likely a bit corroded anyways...
Working on any marine engines suck. I hate boats because everytime you go to work on anything you have to deal with completely rusted out bolts and parts, everything seized, corroded or completely rotten and everything is super expensive and sometimes hard to get.
Friend, as an actual outboard mechanic with repair shops in several states... b.s. This was a waste. the parts in that engine were worth housands and the guy stated" it was down a few psi on 1 cyl.) Been fixing these for over 40 years. This was just stupid and a huge waste. He repowered so no it was not all junk. If the mid and lower were fine then the powerhead was not all rusted out. This is one of yamahas best ideas. i have a 250. amazing machine. would have happily bought that powerhead. Did you see how long it lasted? Was not in blown state
No kidding... I guess I am poor as hell. I love to hunt and fish. I have a 40hp Yamaha from 1985.its an old motor that has given me many years of service. I bought it used when it was 5 years old. Only stranded me once due to a spun prop hub. But it's getting old, hard to find parts, and I now have low compression.vi want a new motor and I am saving for one. I am not ashamed to admit it, but I deliver pizza part time at night saving up for a motor. Seeing someone purposely destroy one like this is heartbreaking.
Melita e still, it would’ve been worth somthing now it’s not Yamaha in my opinion made the best 2 strokes and this thing may have ran for a while if they hadn’t have done this
Well there ya go 2:42 of running wide open with no water, no load and most likely crap fuel. Sorry but these are some of the toughest motors yami ever built.
Damn I thought I had problems needing the upper crank bearing replaced on my 200 OX66 , at least I only have an 11 psi difference between the best and worst cylindes
The late 70s to mid 80s Johnson/Evinrude engines were the best. Besides that in my opinion I think Yamaha would take the win.... I have a 81 Johnson 60Hp that still runs strong and rarely ever gives me a hard time!
Just cause it was not running good and it's was too much money to fix and you probably had a new engine doesn't mean you can just blow it. Could have selled it to some one the could fix it.That motor should have been in better hands.
Probably blew it up just to keep someone else from using it. I know ass holes like that. Would rather destroy something that someone else could use instead of selling it to someone who could fix it up and use it. That motor would have sold for quite a bit around here
Why not? It's destined for the scrap yard anyways. I guess you've never been to one... Countless running engines ground up every day. Might as well have some fun with it before it goes.
can’t believe it lived as long as it did! probably would have went longer if it had water supply but still legendary
Ran a lot longer with no water than I thought it would.
Lmao

Yes, I really cannot understand this, it could have been repaired
I'd say the engine was almost fucks as there was a seemingly new powerhead on the floor

it's the remaining working fuel and electrical parts of the block, upper/lower cowling, lower unit, power tilt etc. that's actually worth something
Logical explanation, at first though I wondered why myself.
why not just use it... seems like it still ran

What a shame that could’ve been someone’s good running motor
Yes, a 1999 engine like new, closely mint.
@@melitae2317 Must be nice to have your kind of money. Not everybody can afford brand new.

I know 😪😪😪😪

Damn ...i recommend Yamaha 110%....thats one tough engine
Every one is crying like a little baby in the comments 😂 it’s just a motor
Two completely different opinions in this comment section. This video scares me

Man ... that was painfull to watch
WHY
Oh the humanity !
Why!
Why?
Are Johnson/evinrudes better than Yamahas ?
OMC outboards are decent but definitely not as good as Yamaha

13500-14000 rpm

Especially the 2 strokes because they don’t make them anymore
Bicchierinonso.
Sound like a three phase power supplies.
Why??????
How much RPM was that?
Too many lol
Sounds like about 6000rpm.
This engine cooled by water becasue of blowing
😪😪😪😪 I wish I could have enough money to do this shit 🤣
Why
Poor Yamaha rip Yamaha deserved a better home
Why though
This was sweet!
Why would you you do this

What a waste
