@@MarshMakesComics I just talked to a friend the other day about how when I drew as a child, I just did it and enjoyed it. As much as we want to draw as a career, it's nice to take a step back and actually draw because we love it so much.

I've been on this artist journey since I quit my trucking job in 2021. It's gonna be tough but, great job, bro! After I realized my mental health was more precious for me I got committed in my own pursuit of happiness and purpose. I don't care what people think anymore. I just concentrate on what I like doing. I haven't faltered yet. Good luck, bro! We're all in this together.

Hey bro, I just want to say thank you a ton for your videos and for being a huge inspiration to me, I'm currently still writing out a script for a comic and improving my art skills by using references from both western and eastern types of art and animation. I'm quitting my day job too, in about a week. Can't stand my boss. But I will say he is comedy, and I will be turning him into a comic character for one of my comics, as a villain of course! :) I agree with everything you said about quitting. Those sentiments resonate with me Marshall. I'm also moving on to bigger and better things that I hope will pay off. Not for anyone, for myself. Being an artist is a lonely road, as we all know. Wow. this is pretty cool to hear. I wish I could quit my day job now. Life takes up a lot of my time and lately, art is being placed on the back burner in my life.
I believe we are all artists in our minds. I am an artist first and foremost. I believe that. I am not happy unless I am creating something.
I want to thank you for putting this video out. It's inspiring and makes me want to create just to create. Not worry about all that algorithm stuff. Create what makes you happy.

success in everything you do, be it comics, school or just enjoying life in
general!! I´ve still to sit my butt down, put my nose to the grindstone and make
some comics, but you certainly inspire me to do it. P.S. Although I´m 41 now and I
live in Mexico, in the early 90´s (when I was 11-13) I lived in New England for a
while (first in Lowell, then in Cambridge). I have very fond memories of that time
and I still keep a box with all the cool comics I bought while living there. Anyway, good
luck, God bless and I´ll keep an eye out for any future videos you upload!!

Hey marsh, when I used to want to make comics, I watched your video first. Two years passed and I started painting oil paintings. I think you provide the most valuable information about comics on RUclips. You also have a strong character. And I must add, you draw better than the artist of I Hate fairyland 😄 Never give up, no one understood Kirby at first either.
We tend to work and worry our whole lives until you get to retirement and you are too steeped in responsibility and debt to enjoy it. I took another route, retired early and now just enjoy a creative life. As scary as change is, you are going to love it. I wish you all the success and look forward to whatever you decide to put out there 🙏 no stress- peace and love brother

After my father passing away in 2021, I moved away and started a business and been making my minicomic series for about 2 years, on issue 18.....have notes till issue 20 but idk what imma do after that, did start a second monthly book only on issue 4 right now, plus working on two oneshots 30-50 pages long😂

I used to do a comic group t ck comis with a friend, that friend was a huge jerk ti everyone and he was rushing me with my work, notonly did i quit but some of he other members did

Nope very happy with my decision on this! It’s not worth being imprisoned in algorithms. It sucks the life out of creative expression.

If you're trying to make success a non necessity then why the heck did you quit your day job?
Im not trying to make success a non necessity. But I am taking career oriented pressure off of my creative pursuits and placing them more on to my pursuits in a career in programming. I quit my day job in a warehouse so that I can focus on school to get there. Im lucky enough at the moment that I can afford to do this for a time for hopefully a better future while at the same time letting my creative pursuits be more for just fun and wellness.
@@MarshMakesComics don't get me wrong, I wish you luck. But that pressure to succeed might be necessary for you to actually succeed. I think maybe you're trying to bring down the immediate stress of the situation to improve your mental health which is good, but it probably doesn't work in your favor to reduce the long term stress of a sink or swim economy. Just my two cents. Good luck guy.
