    In this market I would do the chain and put it up for £2,495. The chain, service and new brakes are the selling points.

    Loving these videos every day, I am a dealer and learn so much watching you, I think the chain is bad I have had a few i10 and got to admit I wouldn't risk that going out without doing the chain done, you have a excellent reputation for selling really good quality affordable used cars, keep up the good work 👍

  • @darrenwilson8042
    @darrenwilson8042 2 года назад +38

    Those i10's are superb cars aren't they? Handle the miles so well. On this one I'd stick a new chain on it for peace of mind and to protect your reputation then market it at £2495 and let someone bid you - you've seen what cars are going for at auction those prices will be reflected on forecourts around you so even at £2495 it still represents value

    • @david1976aful
      @david1976aful 2 года назад

      You’d have to be mad to pay over 2k for a 2011 i10 CAT registered.
      Had a quick search on autotrader and there’s 2012 Active with 96k on the clock for £1,995.
      Or a 2011 Comfort 67k on the clock for £1,995.
      And neither of those are CAT registered. 🤷‍♂️
      Having said that I’d buy James’ over those because you know it will have no issues and will be clean inside and out.
      You can leave that timing chain on it, something else as expensive to replace will go long before that chain.

    I know this for a fact because a couple local dealers took a fiat 600 and we're bidding on it to up the price but it didn't sell so ended up taking it home.ran out of petrol on M4 and luckily a builder stopped and gave them some petrol.

    Higher price with the chain done or a poor customer could end up being charged hundreds by some mechanic. Plus it will sound better when started.
    Don’t forget if it’s someone’s first car they will be put off for life if it needs work shortly after buying it.
    Won’t hurt to say you were going to sell it cheaper with the worn chain but you replaced it and added £200 which is far less than they would be charged at a garage plus they would have the inconvenience of losing the car while it’s fixed.
    Your customer service standards, for which you are getting known for, won’t let you sell a car with a fault or a noise. If it did the MX5 wouldn’t have had the rattle roof fixed would it.
    Happy customers tell their friends where to get good no fault cars from leading to more business.
    When you get your own premises it could be worth letting past customers your new address and company name as some will come back to you.

    sold my citroen cactus to we buy any car in June there value was 7000. just looked now it's value has gone up to 8350..
    I had a trade value in January 2020
    for the same car at 6000 with we buy any car..
    so basically the car that's 20 months older 8000 miles more is worth now 2350 more than back in January 2020

    I'd stick the I10 up at £2,495 with the new chain on it, prices are going crazy and the customer is going to have to pay for it. I've sold a couple of cars this week for what I thought was really strong money but they sold straight away with people fighting over them. Supply & demand as simple as that

    There's a RUclipsr here in America that showed the offer received for his 2020 Dodge Charger. It's more than he paid new. Cars are supposed to devalue the most in the beginning, not go up.

    I would prefer for the chain to be replaced and pay the extra £200 just for peace of mind. I enjoy the videos because they remind me a bit of the original Wheeler Dealers episodes and because you sell such nice little cars which are all very well presented. (how about Nice Little Cars as a business name?)

    Prices going up in auction puts up forecourt prices. Most punters will just compare like for like so won't know about the rise unless they've been looking for a while. When your buying costs go up your prices will have to follow, but you can still stay at the bargain end of the market. TLDR: It's not what you price it at, it's how the market values it. It might even be worth going for cars with more remedial work needed, even though those prices are rising, to earn on the extra hours you'd put in.

    Is i10 rattle after oil & filter change? Keep £2195 and stay firm at price after explaining everything you have done.
    I'd pay the extra £200 for the chain work

    Second hand prices are so ridicules at the moment I've put off replacing my Civic. Im just gonna wait till next year when prices hit rock bottom and dealers are back to normal with new stock they cant shift.

    £200 money well spent saves any future hassle like a warranty claim and will future proof that engine plus peace of mind from your end as the retailer of the car .

    Just noticed petrol has gone from £1.32-£1.35…
    In the USA it’s $4.00…
    So if their petrol now costs over double what we’re paying then I’d expect it to keep
    Going up here…
