- MIDI dowload for the lead guitar: www.dropbox.co...
Some people have been asking me about tips for programming lead guitars so I decided to convert an earlier cover project (【G.O.D.】ボーグ - Afterglow • 【G.O.D.】ボーグ - Afterglo... ) to the slightly changed keyswitch mappings of version 3 of AME and upload the MIDI file. I don't have the other guitars from Ample Sound but if they use the same articulations and keyswitches this MIDI should work in theory, however I can't guarantee anything.
I show my settings for AME and the FX chain in the video, you might want to pause cause I go through them very quickly.
Tonelib GFX used to be freeware but it's now a paid plugin (nagware), however I'd say it's totally worth the price (I'm still using an older free version though). I also used Eventide Blackhole for a little extra reverb but you can ignore that, it's not essential for the tone. Other than these two I just used Reaper's stock EQ.
I hope this video and the attached MIDI help someone. You can't obviously use the MIDI out of the box with other guitar virtual instruments but the basic principles (using a variety of articulations a real guitarist would use) remains.
Note: the bass isn't MODO despite the track name, I used Scarbee Rickenbacker bass from NI.
So is this Scarbee vst? 😄
Yes, that's what I said above 😄
wow dude the bass on fire, great midi
Thanks!
great plugin, great composition. personaly, i like it
Thanks! Composition itself isn't mine cause it a cover :)
I'm amazed. I would have never guessed it wasn't a real guitarist in a blind test.
Now that's a compliment. Although I have to say it's easier to copy an existing performance and make it realistic than make something from scratch.
@@Tremendouz It's definitely a compliment. I'm a guitar player and also I'm obsessed with making virtual instruments as realistic as possible, but I mainly think of drums, I just "discovered" there are guitar vsts such as this one, and that they sound so good. And I know there's a lot of effort in this, I use an Ample Sound double bass vst from time to time, but I've never achieved this type of results.
@@peptoattack It's indeed quite a lot of work, for example I programmed 2 different guitar VSTis for the rhythm and blended them together. And as you can see in the original version I linked in the description, the lead guitar used a lot of keyswitches and hand-drawn vibratos.
@@Tremendouz Sure! It's like a new level of admiration haha. Again, congratulations on such amazing work. Keep it up!
@@peptoattack Thanks, I will!
This is amazing programming.
Thanks!
Wonderful!! I've been looking for a good midi to use as an example to learn from. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks, and you're welcome! It's not a replacement for a proper tutorial but if it helps someone, I'm happy
@@Tremendouz Do you happen to have anymore sample midi for amplesound guitars? I learn best hands on.
@@richod9635 I uploaded the MIDI for "Neon Sky" as well but for some reason the latest version of the guitar doesn't like the "auto mod" feature with modwheel that I used for some of the vibratos in the track so those parts won't sound exact. But I've moved on to using pitch wheel for manual vibrato at this point ruclips.net/video/PzlRYO6XsKk/видео.html
@@Tremendouz Awesome work! I'm physically disabled and I'm unable to play a real guitar or keyboard. I use Studio one 5 and still trying to figure out the best way to do bends and vibratos well. I currently draw them and get mixed results. Again ... Thanks!
@@richod9635 I draw them in myself too with mouse but that definitely needs some patience and steady hand so overdubbing the MIDI CC data with the pitch or modwheel of keyboard after drawing the notes could be an option (and since it's MIDI you can use as slow tempo as you need)
My man, that sounds goooooood
Thanks!
Very beautiful!!!! Amazing sound!!!
Thanks!
Great sound man! Thanks for showing us also the AME settings and the FX chain, I'm downloading the AME update to V3 right now
Thanks, and you're welcome! I actually prefer the solo mode of v2 (didnt use solo mode here due to some polyphonic stuff going on) cause it lets you have a stronger pick attack (try 25-30ms sample start time when using that) so I havent uninstalled v2 because of that. I actually opened a thread on ample sound's KVRaudio forums about that change, waiting for a reply now cause I'd really like to be able to uninstall v2 to save space.
@@Tremendouz thanks for the info. I made a lot of music with V2, so I was thinking to keep it for a while, it seems like it's a good idea... Unfortunately it needs space (and I'm upgrading also the old AGG and AGTC from Ample Sound)
Thanks for the MIDI brother!
You're welcome!
It's beautiful
Thanks!
This song goes hard af
Thanks! Check out the original too! ruclips.net/video/L0ZrX0oQTmA/видео.html
Duuuuuuuuuuuuudeeeeee... :O
What'd you use on the rhythm? I could use a sound like that for one of my current projects.
It was a pretty weird setup: I ran shreddage 3 jupiter through bluecat re-guitar to change the timbre somewhat, then mercuriall SS-11X + Catharsis IR plus some stereo widening. Then I layered an instance of AME playing only the root notes of the power chords and mixed it a bit lower.
@@Tremendouz Clever!
Tis so cool!~ Apparently I am using Reaper and have some of the VSTs and libraries you used there. Is there any chance to take a look at your project file? Thank you~
Thanks! Not sure if it's gonna be any help if you dont have everything since every plugin plays a role in the mix but feel free to try www.dropbox.com/s/aee6xpjemuttg33/AME%20afterglow_5.RPP?dl=0
Great job! Please share this project as well!
Thanks! A lot of plugins here that you might not have but you get the idea we.tl/t-skYrNfOfqR
@@Tremendouz Sure. I'll figure it out somehow. Thanks thousands!
@@Tremendouz Sounds amazing. Link seems to be broken right now though.
@@josejl1987 Yeah, the link has expired. I uploaded the MIDI to my dropbox (see description) but since I'm very low on space I'm not keeping project files there. Do you specifically want the project file instead of just the MIDI? I can reupload it to wetransfer later today after which the link will work for 7 days
@@Tremendouz Yes, I'm interested in the project file. Thank you for sharing all this information, not many people seem to be sharing their knowledge on this area, I really appreciate it.
My man
😮😮😮❤❤❤
Glad you liked it!
This is a talented composition. how did you write out the guitar part?
Note that it's not my own composition, it's a cover (albeit I tried to stay as close to the original as possible). Anyway, I used mouse to draw everything including the pitch bends in Reaper's piano roll.
how to make this solo Melody
I linked the MIDI file in the video description, you can take a look at it.
amazing sound, whats app ur use?
The DAW is Reaper but that's not relevant, you can do this with any DAW. For the lead tone here I used Tonelib GFX as I mentioned in the description.
love u :D
Uh, thanks :>
Could you please compare to the built in AMPs :) there is overdrive and distortion pedals within the head - you may find a button - predrive.
Sounds great! you really know guitars and AMPs!
I don't think the built-in effects in AME are as good as 3rd party amps for metal. But there are many free amp simulators that sound great like Ignite Amps Emissary.
By the way I think the new demo videos from ample sound use the built-in amps.
@@kangkane5121 And thank you!
@@Tremendouz I don't know if you knew, but Kang Kane is actually FROM Amplesound =]
@@drauncj I did find out afterwards actually.
Thats so good but when i play inmy ame it doesnt sounds like that why?
Did you try Tonelib GFX with the amps and other effects I showed in the video? I also showed my AME settings (make sure to disable AME's amps when using 3rd party amps) but the amplification is what matters the most.
What is the name of the plugin, ample metal eclipse what? 1 ,2, 3 or?
It's simply called Ample Metal Eclipse. If you go to Ample Sound's website it'll be listed as "AME". The current version is 3 and all updates have been free so far which is nice.
This sounds like something you would here from joe satriani
Sounds just a bit more... japanese? to me haha. Make sure to check out Guitarists on Demand for the original version and a lot of other great stuff
The real problem with guitar lead tones is the fake attack of higher notes.
it lacks the metallic percussive sound, like the hammers on piano strings typical of harmonics notes in top range. This problem is even worse if you use bending...if you (we) fix this somehow the increase of realism 50%
Maybe using additional library with better sampled harmonics? but i think that also amp simulators have problems with high frequencies.
Yeah (lack of) realistic pick attack is the biggest issue with VST guitars usually.
@@Tremendouz you can adjust that aspect though. I see in your example you dont have the FX bar turned up for that fret and attack noise
@@rui5421 Fret noise means just the fret noises that happen after note release. The FX volume knob seems to be for the extra noises you can add via keyswitches (eg. downstroke noise, scratch, silent press) if I understood the manual correctly, however I tested that knob and it didn't seem to affect the volume of those, no matter if I turned it to maximum or minimum so I don't know what's going on.
By the way, the problem isn't necessarily the volume of the pick attack, it just never sounds like the real thing due to physics. I even tried sampling my own guitar but putting sampled notes one after another just can't replicate it perfectly.
@@Tremendouz I doubt we'll ever really get virtual instruments that sound 100% like the real thing. I feel like good amp simulation/fx, and utilizing the options for pick/fret noises via keyswitches or the release noise options available can help it go a bit further. That and some intentional imperfection.
Amazing work. Where can I buy Ample?
Thanks! Their website is www.amplesound.net
Puedo abrirlo desde fl studio?
Yes, MIDI file works with any DAW.
Srry to annoy u but what drum vst are u using
I used Perfect Drums in this particular track.
nice!!! you are a vstwizard ;)
Haha thanks, this one in particular took me way too long cause I wanted to recreate the original as accurately as possible. It probably has 5 times the notes and keyswitches compared to my average project.
@@Tremendouz it was really worth it! It sounds fantastic!!! you should do more videos like this one! Vst Comparisons, tutorials etc.
Maybe I would if I wasn't totally hopeless at video editing and talking. Also comparison videos would be a ton of work cause I'd essentially need to program the tracks from scratch multiple times to suit each guitar.
@@Tremendouz hm for talking you could do something like death culture metal production but yeah...programming would be a shit tone of work. But i would be really cool, interesting and helpfull for a lot of people :)
I see. Maybe some day but no promises.
can i use it on fl studio??
YES YOU CAN
Sure, just like any other VST
@@Tremendouz so can i dowload this vst with your link below
@@12.phamminhhieu56 No, that's just the midi file. The guitar instrument is paid, the amp sim (tonelib gfx) has free trial you can download and has a nag screen
No way tonelib has better sounds then the metal eclipse sounds????
Why not? It's a pretty nice collection of guitar amps, cabs and effects.
@@Tremendouz i tried it out i didn't have a ton of success
@@Tremendouz your sounds are better than what I got though
@@cjmllvv did you also copy the settings in the guitar itself that I showed at the beginning?
@@Tremendouz nah. Youre eqing it three times. One thing I might try is switching from stereo to di. Looks like you're in di mode
Man
:>
It sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
Hi,
You can play all the notes of the guitarr?
Wat i like of this company is they dont work with that sons of bitchs of native instruments, you dont need to spend 400$ for the kotackt6 :)
Yes, you can play any notes (the tuning is Drop C, can be tuned to D standard but not to E standard without the capo)
Talking about Kontakt, most of the "premium" libraries work with the free kontakt player, also no one pays $400 for kontakt when there's a way to crossgrade during sale for a quarter of that ;)
@@Tremendouz Thanks :)
@@Tremendouz but you know native instruments they have alot of marketing of his kontact?
Alot of vst you need kontact to use other vst and you need to spend alot of money because alot vst of other companies you need the full version to use it - _-
