This. I just got one and am waiting for it to arrive. First current gen console I've bought since 2001. For me it's all about them shmups. BotW looking cool though. Still running CRTs so Lite seems to be perfect for me. Old games on the big screen and newer ones in bed.

but it's the living embodiment of a scam. If this was $125 or $150 then it would be worth it. But $200 for no dock, "switch", removable joy-cons, and a smaller screen??? That's ridiculous. The dock alone is $90 on its own. This is a slap in the face.

Julio Velasco but it plays normal switch games and this is what you have to expect a cheaper model that’s for handheld bro and don’t hate on it.
There was this feature on the DS and 3DS that let you play certain multiplayer games on multiple consoles with a single cartridge, such as smash or Mario Kart, I think that having that would be pretty awesome.
Edit: Your comments about download play and the size of the games are right, but you wouldn´t need the entire game, you could even just have the Switch Lite just act as a separate controller that also has a display that lets you see the regular Switch´s display

No it wasn't. It was a good system to be sure, but definitely not revolutionary or ahead of it's time. Plenty of gaming handhelds before it and the PSP was just the continuation by a company in that area.

me too. I wanted to get one but I wasn't intrested playing on my TV (Wanted to get the Pokemon let's go switch but it's too much for my pocket). The Switch lite works for me and I got my 3ds in march 2018. The lite comes in a good time because there are few games that are coming out this year for which I'm intrested in so I'm buying one (and at least the price where I live is a few dollars more the new 3ds xl).

I NEVER use my Switch on the TV. I ALWAYS play in handheld mode.
but on TV most games are in higher resolution and the controller is way lighter than holding the whole switch.

Oh my gosh, I wish they would do that. I'd drop the $200 (+tax) in an instant if they did that. They could release Wii U ports under the moniker "Switch Hybrid" or "Switch Mix" or whatever and bring over their old functionality. Man, that would make Captain Toad so much better, and Mario U Deluxe, and Mario Maker, and it'd make games like Wonderful 101, Xenoblade X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water super easy to port over. And they'd look better and run better than ever 😍😍😍

Honestly when I look at this, I see a 2019 Gameboy advance. Something I can throw in my bag or pocket, play with in bed under a blanket, etc. I don't yet own a switch, and I'm glad I've held off; the $200 price point and increased durability/portability is enough to win me over this September. As always, thank you long hair Australian dude for making these high energy, informative videos to get me hyped!
It doesn't really look that small to where you can easily slide it in and out of your pocket especially with it having traditional control sticks unless they can sort of pop in and out and they just haven't shown that off for some reason.
Also when the thumb sticks start to drift you’ll need to buy an entirely new console, instead of new joy cons. Huge bummer to me honestly

For me personally I use my Switch 95% handheld, so I plan on getting the Lite for its lighter weight design, d-pad, no more joycons falling off my Switch and better battery life. Then using my current Switch perma-docked. I appreciate it's not necessary and not everyone can or will want to buy 2 Switches though :)

I was thinking the same! However, they seriously need to add in a save cloud feature. That would highly increase the sales of multiple switches in a household/per person.
I think the Switch lite looks nicer than the normal one! I also hope they fixed the joy con drift on the Lite... I am tempted to buy it, even though I already have a Switch! And so many games coming out in the upcoming months that I want to buy, rip my wallet ahaha

Thw more switch units they sell, the more developers are inclined to make games for it. More 3rd party developers there are, the more Nintendo would be inclined to actually try to be close to Sony/Microsoft hardware wise. This is a good thing guys.

Folks have been doing some neat things with USB-C. Something that could attach to the back and run DS/3DS would be awesome, dunno how well it'll sell, though.

I’ve had my switch for 2 years now. The dock has never been used once... it’s been in the box from day one. Honestly the Switch Lite appeals more to me and I LOVE that yellow one! I’m going to pass off my regular switch to my boyfriend and getting the new version 😂

@@als_pals yep, lots of pepole used streetpass especially if you were a Pokemon player, as street pass is the only way to get latios and latias in oras (streetpass is the only way to get the eon ticket, which is the way to get the legendary pair Pokemon you did not catch in the story)

@@Jwick-xu8cz Dude, never, NEVER buy a used switch. NEVER. These things are super unreliable as time goes on. Drifting sticks, finicky power issues due to using 3rd party docks. If you dont take proper care of it, you can RUIN them. And if you buy them used after the old user did something wrong, your used switch will end up with a short lifespan no matter what you do to save it. It is SERIOUSLY not worth the risk, ask anyone in the console repair/refurbish industry (like spawn wave for example or Keven Kenson).
If I didn't already own a switch, I would buy this. It looks rad.

IMO people do call this a downgrade but the switch mini deserves to exist

It does deserve to exist, it’s for a specific consumer. Any critique it gets is still going to come and is still warranted. But people that are hating on it is fundamentally different to people simply saying it’s not for them but good for who it’s meant for.

I think the only real mistake with this thing is the removal of the video-out. That would have rendered most of the controller confusion moot, and it still could have, you know, Switched.

Albert C a dock is $100 that alone makes up the difference. Let alone the extra $60 for additional joycons. My point is affordability has nothing to do with it not being dockable. They could make more if only it still actually switched. In that sence theyre giving the shaft to those who cant afford one.

I love the look of the switch lite, and I’m excited to have a more portable switch that will easily fit inside my rucksack, but I have my reservations.. the controls for example, if they are anything like the Nintendo switch and the troubles they’ve had with drift then I’m not purchasing. I think a few of us existing switch owners will be holding back a few months after release just to see if there are any issues with the lite before Splashing out $200 on a device not fit for purpose.
People that held off on buying the Switch for an upgraded one, are better off just buying the original Switch by now. :)
