Thank you for showing this. I have seen English knitters do this & I have avoided this stitch all together cause their way was strange. Continental is so natural for me, I’m not changing for anything. So today you have ended the confusion for me... now I can make lace with confidence! Thank you Norman!🎁👏🏼🎊🎉
ha! good plan. not only the liver grows with a challenge ;-) please keep in mind that I do have a second channel where you will find short slow-motion videos for almost all knitting stitches!
Today I randomly found your channel. I have crocheted since sept 2023 and started a month ago with knitting. I watched many tutorials on how to increase/ decrease your knitting, never understood it. But thanks to you! You make it seem so easy that I can knit myself a sweater someday ^^
omg yes I was looking for what you do on the next row after the yo, thank you so much. I just finished the fingerless glove pattern you have first project down now a million more to try. Thanks again. :)
Do you have a video with several different methods for increasing number of stitches? Im no sure what it is named in english, but Im supposed to pick up a thread between stitches and increase it and then knit it from the backside.
The YO is fairly easy but me EXCEPT doing a YO purl wise then needing to knit next stitch or the other way around, doing a knit wise YO then purling the next stitch. I was thinking whomever created those patterns did so because they were evil. Maybe a future video?
I think the reason why there is something like yarnover purlwise is because english knitters have to yarn forward to purl. For continental knitters, it's exactly the same - so no evil thoughts at all ^^
For the purl side (wrong side), what happens or what's the difference if i don't purl at the backloop for the 2nd y/o i made in the knit row? i mean just do regular purl
Very good tutorial as always. One thing is a bit strange, please listen to the sound. There is a beeping sound which is a bit annoying when watching the video again an listening to your explanation. Maybe you can upload it again without the background noise. It’s not much , I’m not complaining. Pointing you in the direction to improve 😉
Hey Karine..i hope you know that you can change the play speed any time, right? Also, I do have a second RUclips channel with slow motion videos of all stitches
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Best, easiest explanation for a continental knitter 🙂

I’ve decided I’m going to learn to knit by jumping into a pattern and searching your channel for every stitch I don’t understand

This is how I am learning, too. I usually practice a pattern with scrap yarn before making it with the yarn purchased for the project.
The best tutorial on yarn overs I have found ou youtube!! So easy and well explained. Thank you
Wow, thank you!
Thanks!
No problem! thank you for supporting my work
Thanks! Just what I needed. I am knitting a sweater that has several new techniques for me and this is one. You are my go-to instructor.
Glad it was helpful!

I do have a dedicated sweater tutorial as well: ruclips.net/video/N6qxTSD97V4/видео.html
Thank you for this. I'm making a baby blanket and this tutorial came to my rescue. I'm stubborn and want to do things my way (AKA no pattern) lol.
😅
Thank you for such a simple and thorough explanation! :)

this helped me so i want to say thank you :)
Excellent video! Your explanations and visuals are clear and easy to comprehend. Thank you for always sharing your techniques and tips. 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶
You are truly the best!
Thanks for the explanation! It's so clear!
Glad it was helpful, Irina!
Thanks for watching my video. Feel free to comment with your questions or suggestions & tell me how you knitted your first yarn over increases.
Excellent tutorial!
Thx ☺️☺️
Excellent!!!🎉🎉 Thankuou❤
Question, Do you always wrap the yarn the same way on the hook no matter what? For example I'm knitting through the back loop not a regular knit.
well. there is a backward yarn over as well. So..."always" is difficult. But, if you want and need a yarn over, then you always wrap it the same way.
Really like your videos and explanations, helps a lot!
Question: I’ve come to a pattern that asks for a yon. Is it the same as yo? Thanks!
Hmm..hard to say without context but probably short for yarn over knitwise, so yeah
@@NimbleNeedles thanks!

i am sure this stitch library on my blog will help you (all blogposts have videos as well): nimble-needles.com/knitting-techniques-library/
This is super! 🧶
Verygoodinstructionsthank you keep knittin
I have trouble with tension keeping the eyelets the same size. Any hints?
not really. I mean could be any of so many little problems and I am not really seeing what you are doing there :(

The size of the resulting eyelet. If you work through the back loop, it will get smaller.
@@NimbleNeedles Got it! Thanks for you reply and i really appreciate your videos that helps me a lot!
If the instruction says "yarn over, k2tog", then do I simply yarn over knitwise and k2tog?
yes :) The result should be a lovely mesh section
How do you close yo on the knit side?
if you are on the knitside, you knit it through the back loop. if you are on the purl side, you purl it through the back loop
But how do you yarnover after a purl and before a knit?
there is no difference. the technique always stays the same :)
Sorry I'm confused, you started saying yarn round needle, then you did a yarn over?
yes, if you wrap it around the needle that's a yarn over
Can you also show how to knit below?
Hmm...I could.but didn't u want a brioche tutorial? That would be part of it. Tho, I think it's just needlessly hard to knit

this was one of my very first videos and I new nothing about recording or editing.
You are going way too fast. Shame
Hey Karine..i hope you know that you can change the play speed any time, right? Also, I do have a second RUclips channel with slow motion videos of all stitches
But how do you yarnover after a purl and before a knit?
It's always the same technique. It's just one counter-clockwise wrap
