I think you have to build the conveyors from source to sell point for the snapping to work
18:20 my guess is the snap works to connect the "in" end of the one you're placing to the existing conveyor. So the earlier ones down the hill were trying to snap the "in" end to the existing one and take off to the side, and the one at the top here is connecting to the "out" because that's what side you're on.
That makes a surprising amount of sense.
same, the sphere in the bottom right corners seems to be where it snaps and rotates around

I think it expects you to begin building from the source not the destination. It didnt want to automatically snap to the previous conveyor when you were sticking the previous one to the next one, in terms of the path of the dirt. But, it did snap happily when you did the other way round.
It hurt my soul to watch him fail so miserably and not realize it, definitely some architect work for sure
@@minislag I personally think the game dev may have been an architect. So many odd little fails in the design, but it did look pretty. Classic hallmark of the architect.
Yeah, this has to be it. Pretty dumb to do snapping this way in a sandbox game

I was wondering how big the map was so I took a drywall screw and had it hold W down so my guy would keep running, went to make a coffee and a sandwich. once back on PC, my man was a little over 8,000 meters away and still running, beside having lunch I still didn't get a clue how big the map is.
"Oh no that's just dirt" ... throws away a ton of "PAYdirt" full of gold. xD
Adding a snowboard or even a 4 wheeler or snowmobile would be a great addition
4:47 i bet the game expects you to go that way in your digger, so it auto makes trees fall down thinking you are driving a big truck and knocking them down lol

The trees dropping into the earth as you run through is HIGHLY unsettling.

As it relates to "prospecting" for the most part you'd be using GPR (ground penetrating radar) to determine what kind of minerals are underground. Depending on the particular application it can even be used to figure out the size and shape of a particular deposit.

If they fix this game, its going to be a must have. the script that changes the rocks back to ground is super smart. anyone that has played space engineers will know why.

It happens too fast
I kind of prefer the way Construction Simulator handles moving dirt, without the orbs/rocks of material (definitely less computer load) , but yet again in a game like Hydroneer it's satisfying.
It's a pre beta release, the dev already announced that he's working on fixing a lot of things, and I think it's just the one guy

I believe they get a general idea of where iron is in the ground by measuring the gravity. It is interesting to hear that your normal process is to dig holes every few hundred meters though.
That's just because he likes digging holes for himself.
Not gravity, but magnetic fields. A large enough iron deposit can actually mess with a conpass and make it point towards it instead of north

Press Q and make sure the demolition icon si white, just besides the bed icon. Make sure its not green, than you or your machine will not destory it

the reason the dirt is not going up the conveyor is because the end of the conveyor before it is under the end of the conveyor going up so it cannot transfer it to the up conveyor.
I Love it when tree’s randomly sink into the ground when I walk near them
Snapping probably looks at your cursor, not the ghost (which is a dumb but popular thing to do). I guess it doesn't help that the cursor is invisible while a ghost is displayed.
my guess for the 4 k meter away thing you get a semi truck for your machine and put it on and go there
The snap is a pain, but no more so than the trees. When the game came out I built a lovely bridge (something I'm surprised you didn't do straight away given your proclivity for bridges 😂) from the tarmacked edge of the company lot across to the opposite hill, had it all built beautifully, snapping seems to only work in one direction so that added a lot of learning time, then when I got to the other side I continued along with the road itself. I came back to the bridge after a little while and all the trees have grown back through it again 🙄

Matt doesn’t like the mining in the Gold Mining Shows, he just loves that everyone wears a hard hat.

This game is currently in a weird state and i am waiting for them to put a new tutorial into the game because i don't understand where the ore drop off zone is anymore it used to be at a building

18:20 My guess about the snapping problem is that the snapping system is a global transform snapping, if the devs had used a local transform snapping system that would have fixed the issue.

lithium is worth a lot, considering how abundant it is. a tonne of lithium in china is around 80k Euro or around 69k GBP (nice)
a kilo of gold however is 55k Euro or 48k GBP, so gold is "only" about 690 times more valuable than lithium 🤓

I think normal mining companies don't build long conveyors from the mine to a place where they can sell their load I think they use trucks...

I think depends on what your financing, home mortgages are generally low and some introductory buinsess loans or young farmer loans, then they go higher and higher quite often prime plus 1 or some such, and credit cards doing the wonderful rip your eyes out pricing if you miss a payment lol

The game clearly snaps source to sinks when building, but RCE stubbornly only wants to build sink to source :p
Granted, it makes sense if you need to align the very end 2 km away on a tiny sellpoint, that you would start on that end. But that's when you need to jank the entire way back to he source like that. Would have been better to start from source, and only jank he very last placement, like he ended up doing anyway.
