@@halcreasy4707 Well, a while back Moog contacted me and said they liked my work. They asked if I’d like to take part in the development of a new analog poly-synth (the Muse). Of course I agreed! I've also made some factory presets for it (together with Kevin Carballo, Cloudface, Lisa Bella Donna, Steve Dunnington, Manny Fernandez, Eric Frampton, Chris Miller, Erik Norlander, Stephen Petoniak, Max Ravitz, Drew Schlesinger and Danny Wolfers).
@@EchoKraftsorry but this is BS: a few years ago , when they passed the 3000 units sold, Moog themselves stated that it had been way above their expectations.
Sweet. The point about this keyboard being designed with performing musicians in mind... Anyone who has needed to lean over the keyboard in the dark to check on or plug in a cable, will appreciate the labeling of ports on the top of the keyboard. Thank you.
Muse looks great, and a surprisingly good price point for something bearing the Moog name with such an extensive feature set. It's gonna give the PolyBrute and Prophet a run for their money! Also I'd love to see the diffusion delay in a stand-alone pedal with CV input.
The MooMu sound doesn't do much for me. Filter cutoff way down, sounds nice and deep but bring the higher ends in and it's 🤕🤯😳 kind of a bit headachey to me. Still, it's probably going to be a Sequential Trigon destroyer at this price point. It would be great to hear an A/B comparisin on those two.
Great Video ! My Statement : The Moog One is a completely different instrument - a masterpiece! Just like the Muse - a must-have for me as a Moog One owner - because the Muse uses some of the Voyager oscillators - plus FM! Brilliant - thanks Moog!
Please note that his explanation of the effects section needs clarification. From his description, we are led to believe that in order to be fully analog at the audio output, is to turn off the effects. That is true, but know this: There is a MIX knob in that section. When it is fully counter-clockwise, it is completely in the analog domain. When fully clockwise, then it is 100% WET and completely digital. Fortunately, the MIX knob performs as it should... a proper Parallel routing, where the analog signal is always present with the effects blended/mixed-in.!! Good work on that one MOOG. Not every manufacturer has implemented their effects for an analog synth in this fashion.
Picked one from Guitar center Arlington TX yesterday. This is a fine instrument, figured out the ARP and Sequencer updated firmware and some bonus sound library. Loving the step sequencer and ARp. Sound design I have to learn the work flow coming from Roland Fantom background
Also note that Envelope times are not mentioned in the owners manual. However, you can see them with a button press as you change them. On average, Envelope times/per stage equals 10 seconds.
Dream scenes. Wall was waiting to see what the Behringer JP8 had to offer before investing in a premium poly but can’t imagine it scratching the surface of this.
Looks great but the MooMu sound doesn't really do much for me. Filter cutoff way down, sounds lively and really deep, like an old Prophet-5 but bring the higher ends in and it seems 🤕🤯😳 kind of a bit headachey to me. Still, it's probably going to be a Sequential Trigon destroyer at this price point. It would be great to hear an A/B comparison on those two.
Sounds great and has massive modulation capabilities but I do think that the 256 presets is too low and will mean a lot of swapping in and out via software. I believe nearly all the preset spaces are already taken with factory presets so straight away you're going to have to mess about with them.
If using only the black keys, even a non-keyboard player, but such a kind of a "instrument-engineer" is able to show some interesting musical fake :D. The moog muse makes it all possible ; D
this is just pure ridiculous :D why?... it should have at least 1000 slots, even 2000, or actually why not 3499? it's not like you use all of the at the same time, come on Moog! at leeeeeast make it 512
@giedriusnakas5795 It should have more than that. If we think about it, adding more slots is cultivating the aftermarket sound designer patch sales. Nobody likes swapping patches out. I was doing it today on my PRO 3 and it is a pain in the ass. I wonder how much these patches are? 512 bytes? 1k? Seems like a lot, but even if they are 1k each. 4096 would be 4MB. It's hardly breaking the bank.
that thing kills me.. normally you have to watch hours to find out if your pick can deliver that spaceyness and this thing ust gives it out on the first pressed key, i think it is almost made for old school prog rock and especially soundscapes.
Why do someone always have to complain about the one thing they can imagine which is not included. Give it 5 years. Learn the synth. Then start talking...
Copied many ideas from Polybrute, added some new, sounds good, especially the filters, 2 more voices, more flexible delay, but of course doesn’t get close to the nifty french engineering and doesn’t have the matrix overview or flexibility, no visualizers, and no reverb, no chorus, flanger etc.
PB has the weakest of Oscillators available on any flagship synth, this is why it relies heavily on FX to give it character. So much for "French engineering".
@@DankePlace You‘re right the VCOs sound weak sometimes, but with „nifty French engineering“ I refer to the hundred or so parameter settings behind all of its elements, e.g. VCO tune modulation settings, extra Env and LFO settings, the ability to morph nearly everything, even between LFO waveforms etc.
@@DasHemdchen Yes and all that doesn't make the synth sound any better due to the weak sounding oscillators, you strip away the fx and you have a very bland sounding synth is my point.
@@DankePlace Correct. As a „band-aid“ to boost VCO performance I would recommend to set Disto of the Ladder filter to around 50%. On PB12, Layer mode gives 4 VCOs per voice, although then it‘s six voices only.
@@DasHemdchen which sort of defeats the purpose of 12 voices. The reason I am going for neither is the 3rd Wave and being DC coupled, has fantastic bass for a poly.
1) An awkward design for an essential live expression function, the macro knob. Why wasn't it either a ribbon control or another side wheel? 2) Too few on board user sound bank slots. Being able to load/swap sounds via the computer is good but there should be far more memory slots in the first place. How about 32 x 16 instead of just 16x 16, of which half could be user patch banks? 3) No poly aftertouch! 4) Make it more affordable! £3k! It should be £2K. 5) Many of the presets seem like fairly uninspiring dross. Otherwise it's a great effort guys, especially the arpeggiator and sequencer.
Right at the top of my head Why oh why...when you're paying $6400 Au, for a beautiful machine do you manufactures cheapen the thing by having such a small display? My Behringer Deepmind 12 display is at least twice the size, and at a cost of around $900 Au, FAIL FAIL FAIL And please don't sell me that your components are all developed in house. What a cop out> Oh and its designed for touring...lol looking at the screen on dark stage
combined with my $3k Arturia maxibrute (released 8 yrs ago) with its 256 16 x 16 matrix and a morphing controller - I reckon i can get close to many of those sounds using both.
Can pick up a polybrute 12 voice analog for $6400 Au. Cant justify the price for its let downs like the screen size. And whilst we're a it will this generation of moogs retain their value as 2nd hands in the future?
You could easily cramm this guts ( i bet these mainboards are very small) in a rackunit , dump the knobs , make it sysex programmable with a vst editor and market it for 1000 dollar as modern day matrix 1000.

32 user preset slots on a 3k synth? the synth world needs to realize that non-volatile SSD's exist.

Why do companies send people to do demos who really aren’t good keyboard players?
wait for the in house guy to get his hands on one once they drop

Most buyers aren't either
They expect to be paid performance rates and for time in travel, plus they probably need a lot more time with the equipment that is allowed.
