I've been so inspired by your videos. I've accomplished so much since watching them! My kitchen is sparkly clean ... sorted out the toolbox ... gave away a PC I no longer use to an unemployed girl ... I'm feeling so much vitality. I have boxed stuff up to give to charity .... the clothes I'd put aside last year to sell on Ebay .. we'll that never happened, so I've bagged those up to donate too. I have so much energy! Thank you so much, I'm so grateful for finding you and your generosity of Spirit ♡♡♡

May you be blessed with more love and joy than you've ever experienced before!

In 20 minutes I have de-cluttered parts of my entertainment center that has been cluttered for YEARS!!! I can actually see the shelf and not just paper and dust. I never thought it would be this easy. I just set my timer for 20 minutes and got to work. It wasn't overwhelming like trying to dedicate a day to clean something and it never gets done. Thank you for sharing this great challenge. I'm going to try to keep it up for at least 7 days to start then go from there.

I know I have so much to do to get my house in order, but Praises be to GOD for helping me through it all!! I know I can do it!! (Philip 4:13) I've already started, I just gotta keep going!! Terri - I am an organized women! Still, I needed to hear your words that this applies to your car also. Amen! I know from experience your words ring true. 75% of the time I can abide by them. However, I still get overwhelmed with the time shortage to "get the whole house cleaned". So I have started breaking it down and marking it on a calendar. Yes, and have entertained in the last 30 days to break it down in even smaller time frames. Then, here you show up in my life with a 20-minute time frame challenge. God is good!!!!! Thank you. What I appreciate the most is you bringing God into to picture. Yes, even in, the smallest areas of our lives. I agree with another writer... God does care about all areas of our lives. I needed this reminder today!

I had probably 10-12 baskets of clean laundry piled on my living room sofa. (My version of your moms guest bed!) I decided that's where I needed to start. I only got 2 baskets done in 20 minutes but that is 2 less than I had to do 20 minutes ago. I will continue doing this until they are all done and then start working on another cluttered area. Thanks for such an inspiring video!

Hi there! Thanks for the encouragement. I just found you tonight. I had already started cleaning out our hall closet. I ran to Walmart to get totes and space bags. I've given my two youngest bathes and nursed my baby, watched Shark Tank and two of your videos. I'm encouraged to finish my project I started. I have a mind to organize, but often fail because I've not started early enough and/or haven't finished. well I'm here to tell you that is changing. my next goal is to have a yard sale and get my basement immaculate, so my husband can finish it! we have goals now we're gonna tackle them! I want more of Jesus and what he has for our family! I want to be trusted with more. Thanks again! Jesus bless you Terri.

Thank you Terri. For years, I''ve lived by that 20 minute pick up rule..I can't begin tell you how countless of times it has saved me face from unexpected visits from friends and strangers. Well recently, I've fallen slack in chores and self care and a friend texted she was in the neighborhood and wanted to visit. I couldn't face her so I didn't respond to her text. I am convicted by the examples you gave Terri, i.e. your mom, the leader's visits to potential employees homes, and the fact that God is a God of order and he blesses those who give careful thought to their ways (sorry, paraphrasing).

You Savelle's are such a blessing to many people everywhere! You share everyday practical insight into God's Word and the very application of it with simplicity for many to receive and how to achieve. Your Ministry put's the I CAN into mouth's that normally would say I CAN'T. This was my first video I've ever watched from your channel. I have to say God has convicted my heart about how I'm keeping my home and my car. I'd totally freak out if my boss wanted a ride across town in my car, (which is a cute red Kia Soul) on the outside, but inside is 3 trips out of state, 2 trips to a vet, 8 drive thu lunches, and the odor remains of someone trying to quit smoking. (( YUCK )) and I'm going to the 5 min car wash today on my way home!! Thank you. I don't know you, never watched any of your videos but this one, and yet, I know this is where God led me to for a reason. (And my clothes are on the guest bed too). * Just really feeling guilty and blessed at the same time right now *

Love the reminder to focus on the 20 minutes we do have! Thanks, Terri! I have ADHD and organization is my biggest challenge every day. With 3 kids under 5 years old my biggest fear is imparting a chaotic environment for them to learn in. No good. Focusing on even a 5 minute pickup of each room before the kids go to bed is a big help, too, and shows them that we value cleanliness and order - that it’s worth working for.!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I truly feel God led me to your video! I have been working on clearing clutter out of my house already, but still have a little ways to go. I am slowly improving my house house keeping. Though I am home all day now due to being on disability I feel like I don't accomplish half of what I did when I was working. It's time to get busy. I like a clean orderly home and I always feel better when it's in good shape!

    • @arosencrantz18
      @arosencrantz18 9 лет назад

Hi Donna, I know what you mean, I'm permanently disabled myself. When you're working you're on a schedule so you always plan your time out but when every day is free day after day week after week is free you tend to put things off especially when you're not feeling well. By giving yourself a schedule, it really helps and you can always " take a sick day" if you need to just like you did when you were working but you need to notice how many sick days you're taking just like you did when you were working and break up your work into smaller amounts. my mother used to say that I must have done two major things in two days which is why I wound up in bed. so you have to pace yourself to whatever your needs are.

I call this the "20 minute clutter workout". I first watched this video about a week ago. I started the 20 minute clutter clean, starting in my bedroom. I've done it everyday, minimum 20 minutes, sometimes longer, but in the past 6 days, I can see more carpet in my room than papers, and binders, knick knacks, etc. My bedroom is coming along, and I feel better in the space. Think of it like this, 20 mins a day, after 3 days, you've done 1 hour worth of cleaning and organizing. Try the 10 minute rule, look at clock, start a task, if after 10 minutes, your still struggling, then stop, but if you find yourself, getting into the groove, then go for another 10 minutes. You'll be blown away by how much you can accomplish in 20 minutes!

Nice tips Terri! I'd say get a big box, write give away or sell on it and put as much stuff in the box as you can in 20 minutes. If the 20 minutes timer is still going and you're done putting stuff in the box then clean the floor in that room thoroughly until the timer goes off. I believe you need a clean floor to walk on with out tripping, carrying food around on your feet or slipping.

great idea. I started with one piece of furniture. Long ago. Ever since, I went through my home several times, always with the question: Did I use or need this item during the last three months? (except season depending items). It helped a lot to declutter. Even now I'm not yet done, but on my way. Christmas decoration, at this time of the year, is my new goal. Everything I don't use this season finds new, and hopefully, happy owners.

Eventually, we got to my son's room, It took like a day. But later on, he said, sure dad I will hang up my hoodies upstairs. Why ? Because the house is now functional Dad.

Love your story about your mom's experience to finish tasks. How sweet to be taught like that. What a blessing she brought into your home and family by following that counsel. I believe God is a God of order and we can take steps to make our spaces a little heaven on earth. As grandma used to say, "cleanliness is next to Godliness." It always feels so good to me.

Well, I had hope to achieve a bit more in 20 minutes than i actually did. Well this is what I did. The worst place is the bedroom. As i hang clothes to dry there on bad days. So there are clothes all over. In addition we had a roof window installed some time ago and as a consequence there was dust still around. So in 20 minutes I removed a broken suitcase from the top of the wardrobe and placed it into junk corner where I will collect bigger broken things for the council to collect. I wiped down my husbands guitar cases. Changed the bottom sheet of the bed and made it. Wiped the mirror and put away some of the clothes. but to be fair the guitars never get cleaned. So better start somewhere than nowhere.

Hey Terri, just finished my first session of 20 mins(a little more than 20 actually). It involved disposing of empty tablet blister packets that were cluttering the dining table, designating the medicines that are useable to a mini shelf instead of scattered across the dining table, keeping away books that I won't be using for a few months again on the dining table, folding a set of clean clothes from my bed and keeping them in my cupboard(they were on my bed for over a week now). Throwing out old soda cans. Emptying a packet of things that were brought home from my closest friends wedding which I was avoiding dealing with to "preserve" the memory at the cost of one sofa's seating space. Tucked a hardly ever used mat away that was sitting on another single seater sofa. This feels better. I hope to report later that most of the mess is gone. It's a lot of work but with 20 mins and inspiration from you Terri, and all things being possible in Christ, may it be done. :)
For the record, I live in a messy environment of my own doing, but I know where everything is. My super organized aunt actually challenged me to a "find it" challenge and I could actually say stuff like "put your hand in that pile of clothes, in that corner, you'll find it" etc. Must be an exceptional talent lol. But I still would appreciate a neat looking place. You mentioned in another video the experience of apologising whenever you invite people home. That echoed well with me.

  • @IMChrysalis

Terri, the title of your video interested me because of a personal experience:
I deal with a lot of physical ailments that make doing anything, including housework, a real challenge. One of my doctors sent me to take classes from a place called "the Mind/Body Institute" and they taught me a technique called PACING. All the class members were told to find or purchase a timer and use it. We all were to choose an activity and set the timer for 2 minutes. When the timer went off, we were to stop and rest for twice the time, then set the timer for another 2 minutes and contine with the activity or move to something else. Then once a week we changed it up in 2 minute intervals, until we reached 10 minutes, when we stopped doubling the break times, but we continued to increase the amount of time on the timer until we hit a level that caused us issues (pain and fatigue too severe). At that point, we subtracted 2 minutes and stayed with that level. If at any time we felt like it had gotten too easy and we wanted to bump it up, we could do it in 2 minute intervals again... I had to have surgery so I needed to go back to square one for a while, but I got to 10 minutes and that's where I'm still working now.
You are absolutely right! It always amazes me just how much a person can accomplish in a small amount of time!

My mom would make us feel "wasteful" if we threw away something away, mainly because someone "might need it."
I've been telling myself that I am being resourceful- not wasteful.
I need to kick myself in the rear, and get in gear.

Politically Incorrect same here! Come from poverty mentality culture and was thought to hold on to things for fear of lack of provision ... wow! It’s a mindset! It’s liberating to live clutter free!

My car is one area I needed to work on. Have a bad habit of puttig my trash (empty coke bottles and such) in the back floor board. After seeing your video I decided to put a small trash can in the back floor board! So now it is nice and tidey. Bag can be removed and thrown out with ease. Thank you!

I was listening to "De-Clutter your home in 20 minutes." I don't like my house. I should be beautiful. It isn't.

I am a new fan and you have given me the encouragement to get organized. Can you please tell me the name of the Rich Renner book that you quoted about his making the surprise visit. I want to read it and share it with my husband. Thank you.
