  • The First Ride’s been up for a couple weeks now, but there’s nothing like seeing your favorite action heroes in action and in the flesh is there? Or me, John Burns, riding around the Spanish countryside with a bunch of other motojournalists like we own the place. Anyway, if you’ve ever been water-boarded, you already know you can stand anything for four minutes, right?

I have been reading / watching John Burns since the mid-nineties. There were many times that I'd crack up reading an article he wrote; just John saying the way it is. You'll never get a bad piece of advice from him, his reviews are spot on.

@@12masterr yeah, that's what I've been saying: the f850gs can be had for much cheaper or even an f850gsa can be found for way under the starting price of a vstrom 1050xt. A 790 could be had for even cheaper, whereas if you cough up a bit more moolah you can go for the vastly superior tiger 900 or CRF1100. So unless Suzuki dealers start to give massive discounts on these bikes I really don't see them selling as well as Suzuki hoped. Honestly, I was expecting the facelift to get a multistrada enduro treatment, at least to justify the price and not bring shame to the DR Big name.

Not too many adventure bikes have a 19' front that are spokes, BMW GS, Duc Multi endro (available as options for other multis) and the Weestrom 650 come to mind. This is a perfect combo for some people. I have the now obsolete KTM1190 eds and I was specifically looking for this wheel combo and my options were limited. The KTM won out for me and I don't regret it but I think I would also be happy with the Vstrom.

Graeme Shaw. I’ve bought and owned three new ‘Stroms and collectively ridden them well over 200 000 trouble free kilometers. In my opinion, the 2018 / 19 model is a great bike and this 2020 version is a marketing mistake. For not much more money there are way better ADV bikes out there that will likely also hold their value way enter as well.

@@UncleWally3 Thanks for that Walter. I had the 650 before this current bike and it's fair to say it goes well. I really do miss Cruise Control as I do a lot of weekend (over night) rides. In fact doing the South Island (New Zealand) again in April (12 - 14 days). There may even be an after market thing I could attach to enable some kind of Cruise Control?. Apart from that, whilst the other upgrades look good on paper, my current machine does all I require. 👍🏼🏍

Rostra is an aftermarket car cruise control that bright minds have made work on many different bikes. Not a project for the timid, and it may not be the smoothest setup available, but its pretty cheap.

New plastics, improved new electronics / less adjustment on the screen / new headlight / new mirrors / new display / powers up slightly together with torque (throttle bodies) new rider modes.
Hmmmm it all hinges on the price, maybe an opportunity missed here decent TFT display, power up around 135 / 150 cast wheels option on the higher spec model, twin LED headlamps you might have a winner? But this doesn’t represent enough revolution it’s a bit evolution (which will be fine for some) I wouldn’t call it exciting though
