- We're at the halfway point.
By now you probably know that I'm not a huge fan of Justice League. I think it's a big boring mess. But I don't think it had to be. So I wrote my own.
So in Part 3 of this series, I will examine the second half of the second act of this new Justice League movie. Our heroes are looking for a fight and boy are they going to find one.

You already set up the "Hey what's everyone's weakness?" conversation. So they're going to use eachother's weakness' AGAINST the Andriod, because it didn't just copy the power but the weakness too. Oh you're good.

He already was introduced and so his powers would already have been explained, just leaves you with one less disconnected thread. Only thing is you'd have to find a way to get him out of wherever they were holding him since the beginning.

Yes, but by publicly having the world's most infamous shapeshifter arrested and taken away, the idea of different shapeshifter taking Lex's place would be less probable in the minds of the prison guards.

Man, I am in love with this series! Not only does it sound miles better than the Justice League movie we got, but just the way you explain things is so thorough. I can actually envision what the movie would be like and it actually makes me sad that we didn't get something like this lol.

Once again, as always, and especially with this rewrite in particular, I would watch the SHIT out of this movie.
I like your dialog a lot- though I can’t know how well it will always work with humans speaking it. Some parts may be too cheesy. But I think cheese is necessary for movies like this. Attempting to utterly eschew the cheese from comics is not only impossible it’s also folly.
Disagree. I thought TDK trilogy and Logan were severely lacking in cheese and they're all pretty excellent. I think cheese comes from the natural inclination to treat the adaptation with some degree of absurdity since the comics, obviously, can get pretty out there.
But I contend that the best comic book movies (and a big part of the reason we're getting so many good ones now) is because people like Nolan and Bryan Singer showed everyone what can happen when you take the material seriously.
You just have to remember not to take it too seriously. There needs to be levity. Obviously in a world where people run around in spangly outfits and batsuits it needs to be occasionally acknowledged that this is abnormal/extraordinary but don't lean into the cheese. That's how you get Batman & Robin.
After watching several of Nando's videos, I've come to the conclusion that he's excellent at rewriting and even creating new plots and stories, but not that great at dialogue. But, since there's almost always several writers working on a movie, that wouldn't matter if he truly had a job at, say, WB because a different writer could work on the dialogue.
Kyle Shepherd I believe the dialogue was less necessary, and what made it good was his story structure.
_____ _____ totally agree with you there- you’ve done a much better job of conveying what I wanted to say. You can’t be completely serious but you can’t lean into the cheese. There needs to be a balance, much more toward the serious side, with some levity to give the audience a moment to breathe
Even if if dialogue is imperfect, it’s still AMAZING, even in this prototypical stage, because it does such a good job of conveying exposition without being overbearing or holding our hands.
Dan the Magic Man and ty long you guys are right on the money there- I think what he has here is a structure for dialogue. I think it would go marvelously well with a director inclined toward improvisation like Taika, where the actors can feel it out and find the right way to say it.
If I may. Instead of using every man and adding another character to the mix you should have had Clayface escape in the beginning only to have him impersonate Luthor later. It just keeps things simpler and uses a character you've already established and that general audience goers would recognize more.
Isaac Spencer that’s fair but using Everyman makes it evermore clear that lex has the power. He has access to any villain you can think of and that what I think makes lex cool. He can get exactly what he wants and adding more villains proves that even more.

3. I love how there is structure, foreshadowing, set ups, payoffs, character development. Everything lacking in the DCEU.

If I could give my own NandovMovies style "one change" to the rewrite: The lasso scene seems kind of corny as stated. Keep Aquaman telling his part because he accidentally sat on it, and have that inspire Bruce to pick it up and talk. It cuts the cheesiness of the scene with a joke, but lets it leave off impactful. Like reverse Bathos.
Let batman catch it mid air as aquaman toss it back to wonder woman. And he start to open up. It make everyone else feel compel to open up too. I think haha
i dunno. i'm torn. because i do like the humor in aquaman accidentally touching the lasso. but his purposefully taking the lasso here gives him agency over his truth. maybe if he accidentally touched sparring dianna it during the "fun and games" portion. Maybe remarking lewdly about her under its compulsion. It'd make a good precursor to batman taking up the lasso on purpose at the end of act two. -- but then again it may just be me wanting to have my cake and eat it too

@@bunnystick I think that works perfectly well. I just felt that Batman deciding to use it for an impassioned speech feels a bit hokey without the setup of it being used that way. It could absolutely happen earlier in the movie.

I imagine when The Flash is doing is rescue scene, Queen's Flash is playing. I fits so well, not just because of the name, but the fact that the song literally is about Flash saving every one of us.

I hadn't thought about midpoints in movies much before this video, but I think that's interesting. I notice that when I watch movies, I have a pretty hard time defining when a midpoint is, and I usually associate it more with the first or second half of the film. But I thought this would be a fun experiment for a comment chain:

I'll start. Phase 1 is two high points (the Mark 2 suit and Cap jumping out of the plane) and four low points (Hulk at the college, Tony fights Rhodey, Thor can't lift Mjolnir, Hawkeye shoots Helicarrier)

I think that Dark World's midpoint is Frigga's death. Then again, I haven't seen that movie in a while, so I could be wrong.

I love the fake-out about the Egyptian artifacts. It reminds me of Zemo and the five frozen Hydra super-soldiers. I was convinced they were going to be the Masters of Evil that leading up to that reveal, I was internally guessing which one would be who so seeing it replicated here so well is wonderful. Lex's motive here is also befitting of his comic counterpart. It's always about power and ego with him.
I agree, the fake out was a great touch that i think a lot of screenwriters for big budget superhero films are afraid to do or simply shy away from either due to laziness, marketing demands (need to sell Amazo toys but would spoil the surprise), or their faulty yet focus-group-tested belief in the fans' preference for conventional payoffs. Honestly though, this did also make me realize just how many DC heroes (and villians) have a connection to Egypt!

But if there isn't any secret sauce (like an Egyptian artefact) to making an Amazo, then why doesn't Luthor make like 10 of them. Certainly this league wouldn't be able to fight all of them.

I’d so u could do something rlly gd with Amazo (the android) at the climax. Amazo is supposed to have all of the justice league’s powers so isn’t this a perfect opportunity for the team to finally tell each other there weaknesses as that’s the only way to take down Amazo and that would make the team have a new found sense of trust between the team. They would now be forced to trust each other in order to take down the android and properly band together as a team at the end.

Why don't you have the Luthor double be Clayface? It's probably easier than introducing another character, especially when Clayface would've already been established by this point in your version.
i think nando is trying to really make the JL feel out of their comfort zone, if youve got a bunch of villains, it really makes it feel like the JL are outmatched, in the actual JL movie the Justice League just hit the easy button when Superman showed up, in this movie the League needs to feel weaker than the enemy, having way more minor villains helps add to that theme, thats what i got from it anywah

@@Deco_R Have him get thrown in Arkham after the first fight - that way, it's all set up. Heck, add a scene of Bats taking Clayface to Arkham and he passes Luthor's cell. That way, Luther doesn't seem like he comes out of nowhere. Him being a reveal only works for comic fans unless its made more clear

did the real movie have deep, moving character development that almost brought a tear to my eye? did it have a big reveal, or a twist, or an "a-ha moment" where everything clicks together? no, not really. they kinda just fought parademons the whole time. and we saw every bit of it in the trailer! it literally had nothing exciting to reveal

Great rewrite, as always, but I have a question. Having already set up Clayface earlier, why not have him be the guy replacing Luthor in his cell? Seems like it would be easier, wouldn’t need to introduce _another_ character. Knowing Nando, I feel like there has to be a reason for this, but it wasn’t explained.
Also I feel like Bruce Wayne’s speech here would be even more powerful if, up until this point, he had kept his identity secret even from the team (other than Wonder Woman). By revealing his identity, he’s willing to be even more open.
Because Clayface was arrested at the beginning of the movie, meaning he can’t fill in for Luthor without the guards to Arkham or wherever he is noticing Clayface is gone.

Nando you left out the night crawler (or whatever that big machine Batman had that Victor also controlled) and that's a classic Batman gadget! It's been in Batman lore since November 2017!
I couldn't figure that thing out. For the longest time I thought it was The Scuttler from The Lego Batman Movie because it looks like nothing else I've ever seen Batman drive. But nope. They just needed a spider big tank to carry them around the sewer and that's about it.

Your version of Luthor’s plan was amazing. It ties the plot threads together, its clever and its not overly convoluted (well at least not as complicated as Zemo’s plan in Civil war)

Throughout these last few videos, Ive come to thoroughly enjoy this rewritten movie. Not because it’s entertaining but because it makes sense. I wish studios wouldnt think in dollar signs and instead think with their heads. It simple to make cohesive writing. It just takes time.

Throughout this ENTIRE rewrite I found myself wanting to know what was happening next. This had me on the edge of my seat and theorizing about what was the villains plan as if it were a mystery and I LOVE it

I feel like there's a good reason why Nando didn't call the "Android" Amazo right away...
This is honestly so entertaining, I feel like I'm literally watching a better Justice League when I watch this. Also, I like all the arcs you gave the characters and how they played out naturally, that can be hard to do but you nailed it
I love your rewrites, but this sudden thing about using the "orb" to try and stop the Android seemed really random and out of the blue. Almost forced. Our heroes have no idea what this artifact is, what it does, or how to use it. I can understand them trying to get it away from the scene or stop the bad guys from getting it, but suddenly placing it at the core of their "plan" was kind of stupid.
I wouldn't say it's as much of a plan but more of a "We don't have any good ideas. Let's try a dumb one." kind of thing.
Perhaps if the orb was a melee weapon instead, then the audience would find it more believable. For example the artefact could be Hawkman/Hawkgirl's Nth metal mace, which is later revealed to be a fake.
I like that idea, but it being fake would undermine Wonder Woman's expertise as an archaeology expert. Maybe just make it a bronze staff or khopesh that belonged to a pharaoh like Ramses. Something recognizable but not actually something directly related to Shazam/Black Adam or Hawkman/Hawkgirl.
How about some weapon that another (or existing) villain obtains and use in a future movie?
I would have the fake Lex be Clayface, we already established him in this world and it allows for movie goers who remembered him from the beginning to feel smart for figuring it out before the movie told them. I know I'm 7 months late but I just came across this 4 part series and love what you have done with it!

SLAD3 _ Gal Gadot is more of a model than an actor but she’s still pretty good and looks accurate. Jason isn’t really accurate in any way but his version is still good. Ezra’s version isn’t accurate in any way and it doesn’t work. Cyborg (I forgot his name) is pretty edgy but what can I expect from a (kinda) Snyder film. Ben is mediocre and Henry was bad until Justice League.

Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman, is the only good thing the DCCU has right now.
Momoa, I liked him in JL (althorugh he was more "Aquabro" than AQUAMAN), but I think he is going to be good in his solo movie.

Still, I think what Black Manta was refering to is to the fact that now Superman and Batman NEED to be recast.
Artistry.... sheer genius! You're ability to piece a cohesive story together and create compelling plot points that drive a story giving characters realistic motivations is incredible.
The suspense is killing me. The finale is going to be great.

I watched this series with the intention of just skipping through and getting the summary. I’m now more than an hour in and am loving it. I’m usually really impatient and nothing can hold my attention but this caught it. Really loved the videos man.

Hey Nando, ever thought of doing some video game rewrites? You don’t have to make it a regular series or make another channel dedicated to it, just some videos about how some poorly written or some well known games can benefit from one simple change on the story aspect.
