Great Video. This Book was AMAZING!!! I Love It. Vita Ayala did a GREAT JOB in writing Storm. She captured her voice very well. Showcased Storms life and what she’s been through etc. The Story was great. I don’t fault Storm for what she did. ESPECIALLY since T’Challa ignored her Calls. Great Review. I also loved this Issue Far Better than the Wolverine and X-Force.

Jerel Boza That’s an Excuse. As MANY times Storm has ditched the X-Men at T’Challa beckoning call the least he could do is answer the Woman he so claims love. But No he answered his Mothers Call. AND how convenient that he just happened to show up when the alarms got tripped. Sick of people giving T’Challa excuses.
One thing I with Marvel would do is give T'challa and Storm a book together. Just with them as the main characters. We can see how it is for them to be dating again and going around the world on dates and saving people. We can see what it's like to be so busy for T'challa since he's a king, leader of the Avengers, represents earth in the council Leauge of Relams and he has to figure out what to do with the multi-galactic of Wakanda.
Having read storm & t'challa rekindle thier love over the past year's this definitely hurt to read 😢. It was a great issue non the less & another great aspect of Hickman X-Men. Hickman keeps finding ways to inflict mortal wounds on a semi immortal people. My only concern with this breaking off of Storm & t'challa is will future X-Men writers/stories give her shine more than just firing off lightning bolts. The thing about her being in the black panther comics over the last 5 years is that she received more upgrades in regards to her power & personality than any X-Men comics have been doing. I'm gonna trust Hickman to do her justice in the future but I'm also concerned. Another great review . Also in that one group live u did you guys did predict a war with wakanda.
I’ve been saying this for a while now. Storm in “Black Panther” has been better than Storm in “X-Me “ and is certainly more powerful, taking on an alien fleet by herself, changing environments from space...and her rekindled relationship with Black Panther. I feel this issue of Marauders stepped around the fact that Storm has been a mainstay in Wakanda for a while now as a huge compound the Wakndan Empire War and has a much closer relationship with Shuri than what was played out here.
I been thinking the samething when I seen she was able to effect the Killmonger hybrid from a Galaxy away I was like damn Storm is on her Thor level shit now.
Doing what Storm did will create a conflict between Krakoa and Wakanda. That will bring the entire planet involved. From America, Atalin, Latveria , Atlantis and ect.

What Coates has been able to do with Storm as a "guest/supporting" character in the Black Panther is far better compared with whatever the main X-Men writers have been doing with her over the years. I think they didn't like Coates (who is a better and more accomplished writer than most) writing Storm better and the X-Men decided to take her back WHILE throwing away Coates work (over 4 years) out the window. The Senior Editor Jordan D White has been saying they have BIG PLANS for Storm in 2021... unless those BIG PLANS involve building on the groundwork Coates has laid (especially involving Storm's Godhead) I don't think said plans will be any good. They're likely just lip service from the X-Men writing team and Storm will find herself in the "Black Mother hen" role when Vita's "Children of the Atom" comic book debuts next year.
Awesome Video! This comic was fantastic and amazing, not just because it is a Storm centered story and that is part of X of Swords but also because is talking about future setups for the future of the X-men and maybe other marvel content. I have this three theories for future storylines now: 1.-There might be a new Avengers vs X-men storyline or more likely an new Avengers and X-men story like House of M, specially considering that some of the Avengers (Namor and Wolverine too) are gonna get powered (possessed?) by the Phoenix Force. 2.-The fact that there is a posibility that Absolon and Mad Jim Jaspers have their own kingdoms that they rule in Otherworld (and that they are Omega Warpers) makes me think that if Saturnyne is still an antagonist to the mutants (is likely it might be considering Marauders #15 cover) there is a chance that there will be some sorth of alliance between Monarc, Absolon and Mad Jim Jaspers against her (most likely to detrone her of Otherworld) and that could be something like they became a new Quiet Council but in Otherworld. In this case they might be some sorth of a Trimvirate of Omegas for Otherworld. 3.- Mr. Sinister might send the Hellions to retrive Absolon (and maybe Jim's too) DNA in order to start planning the creation of his mutant Chimeras. He might start with Alfas and another mutants DNA's (like we saw with North, Cardinal and himself) and then he'll start creating Quimeras with DNA of Omegas and other compatible mutants (like Rasputin).

The issue made Storm look like an idiot though. "I'm in such a hurry. Must steal sword. Can wait a bit for my ex that does anything for me" then she ends up chilling with wolvie and magic not being in such a hurry after all. Kinda felt like an artificial way to build tension between wakanda and krakoa.
She was running out of time. She had 3 days at the start of the issue and Shuri wasn't clear when Tchalla will arrive. She only said "a few days". I would hardly call her stupid
I was thinking the tidbit about strengthening former biological items was referring to the wood used for the hilt. That doesn't preclude it from being a hint at something completely different. I just assumed on face value, that's what it was talking about.
She may be basing her comment of Arakko being twisted on the small amount of the Arakko army marching on Otherworld. Before Saturnyne's intervention, the opposing army was raising Krakoan mutant Unus on a cross.
I didn't think Hickman and Marvel would want Storm and T'challa at odds once more. Especially since the past 3-4 their relationship has gotten better and they are both together just not married.
This issue very much contradicts what’s been happening in “Black Panther” where Storm and BP are a couple, Storm is almost always in Wakanda, and she’s been way more powerful than what she’s been shown to be in X-Men comics. In BP she took out an entire alien fighter jet fleet...in Marauders she gets kicked by Batroc, smh.
PR Deadpool it’s not though. It’s like any other book that picks and chooses what it wants to acknowledge. Pretty much all of them. Avengers has paid 0 attention to the events of Captain America, Iron Man, etc. Up until Death of Wolverine and now Dawn of X, Wolverine comics didn’t exactly match up with X-Men comics. Amazing Spider-Man always does its own thing despite Spider-Man popping up everywhere else. At least in “Black Panther” though, Storm’s costume does change according to what she’s wearing in the X-Men comics and there was a passing reference to her role on Krakoa.
I can't understand what the X Office seems to have against Ororo and T'Challa as a couple. Everyone knows about Sue and Reed (Fantastic Four). Everyone knows about Scott, Jean, and Logan. Even Gambit and Rogue have a passionate fandom over them being a couple. Yet when it comes to T'Challa and Ororo... there's always some weird drama (they even got divorced). Ta-Nehisi Coates finally took the time to rebuild their relationship (it took him 4 years) in his Black Panther run... and yet, Marauders issue 13 threw it away. And the fact they had a Black writer to come and write this issue was just wow... why was Vita asked to write a 'SINGLE' issue? To make the breakup look not so bad cos a Black writer wrote it? Also, when you think about it... why hasn't Marvel Comics (it's been decades) worked on giving the world an iconic couple where both partners are PoC? Again, T'Challa and Ororo were that (for many fans)... and yet, the X Office isn't interested in it at all. And don't even get me started on the list of Omega-level mutants only having Storm in there as THE PoC. White people aren't even a majority (globally)... where are the Omega level mutants of Asian descent? Why is the list dominantly white men? There are some serious issues going on in the X Offices... which is ironic considering the X-Men are supposed to be about discrimination and prejudice. Hopefully, they will address it all someday.
Yes, it is sad to see relationships between a Black male and female character be so wrought with strife and turbulence. Some might say it's 'fiery', but that implies that there are at least periods where they are blissful and happy. We rarely see healthy and whole Black relationships depicted in any media. I also don't consider Vita Ayala to be 'Black' per say, and they are also not invested in healthy relationships between Black men and women. I think Vita would likely be more invested in a relationship between Storm and Yukio (remember her, wasn't she cool?). As much as I do not like Ta-Nehesi Coates, I do think he at least was invested in showing a healthy Black relationship. The only Black (where both characters were Black) relationship in Marvel Comics in over 40 years. There is a constant narrative in most media today that Black men and Women cannot come together or have healthy relationships. Vita Ayala continues this narrative by emphasizing Storm's female empowerment and 'yass gurrrl' moments at the cost of depicting healthy or harmonious relationship with T'Challa. While I loved seeing Storm in action, part of me is sad this was the cost of it.
AJ Raven, the problem with this couple is that they rushed the romance and almost immediately married them off after them not seeing each other for years and then only a few times PLUS they retconned their first meeting with Storm being rescued by the Panther instead of her saving HIM. Storm fans weren't happy. Why reduce her to that in order to marry her to T'Challa? If they had built up the relationship, not retconned their meeting I believe a lot of Storm fans would have been on board.
Very fair criticisms. Vita Ayala coming on for this issue and then taking over New Mutants is great, but you're spot on that creator representation in the X-Office needs to step up. Historically this is true across Big 2 comics. I think Marvel will continue T'Challa and Ororo's romance despite these events (I guess I view it as a plot-driven setback rather than an ending). The only real defense (a bad one!) is that Marvel (and DC) have a real hang-up when it comes to marriage/long-term relationships for their heroes (see also: Spider-Man, Batman). I'd be very curious how/if this issue was considered by Ta-Nehisi Coates and the Black Panther team, given the fact that it clearly works against their story.
Comic Book Herald Spot on. I don’t see this as an ending but more of a necessary hurdle brought about by the story currently. This does have me concerned for the Storm story shaping up next year though.
While I agree with the Storm/T’Challa relationship arguments you’re making, I have issues with your other one. Introducing new characters, POC or not isn’t easy. It’s already difficult getting comic book readers to accept when they’re favorite heroes are taken in new directions but past that is next to impossible. Most new mutants simply wouldn’t possess the staying power of older ones. Plus, and this is just personal opinion, the list of Omega level mutants shouldn’t be long. I like that it’s a short list of people and Storm being the only POC on it isn’t that big a deal. GS Storm seemed to start rebuilding the friendship she has with Monet/Penance if you are looking for other X woman of Color. Also, and please don’t take this the wrong way, as I am in NO WAY arguing that representation isn’t important, however every character doesn’t need to look like me in order for me to identify with them. Storm and Wolverine and Iron-Man and Spider-Man (Peter and Miles) are dear to me and I sure as hell don’t look like all but two of them. Not saying I wouldn’t mind more unique characters but I don’t need to look like someone to resonate with what they represent. SN: White people may not be a majority globally but they are the majority of comic book readers. Specifically white males. Marvel and DC are simply catering to the demographic that account for their consumer base. It’s better, in my opinion, to ask for better writers for the POC characters that we already have before asking untested/veteran writers to give us new ones.

Could it be they'll retcon history to say some X-Man events happened during some of Mioria's past lives we didn't see? Past arcs that were mutants only we were seeing moment in a life she had already lived, but we didn't know ?
I can not figure out how the Hellions will tie into X of Swords. It seems like all the other upcoming issues are the teams of the rest of the sword bearers except for Gorgon, but I think you are right that Hickman will want to tell that story. "An advance into the unknown," from the solicitation of Hellions #5 is pretty vague. I don't think they can go on missions to Otherworld since they obviously can't be trusted to not kill each other (plus two weeks out seems like they are all going to kick the bucket based on multiple cover arts). I'm sure something will happen that will throw a wrinkle in the tournament in some way. Great video as always!
Considering that X-Force was just a Wolverine issue and Mauraders was just a Storm issue, Hellions will most likely be another character centered issue.
About skybreaker's secret history, there's no hint here. It was just to showcase how strong the sword is. It's written "prolonged contact". So the only thing it affected is the sword's grip and pommel. Those were made of wood and leather, the hilt is now stronger than steel. Meaning with time it will be unbreakable. Would probably be stronger than Mjolnir if it was as old.
Honestly this is confusing to the Black Panther lore: According to Odin, BP 1 mill BC was the first to use the Vibranium meteor to further Wakanda and the BP cult. And the Avengers 1 mill BC was set in the stone age for a reason with Agamotto and the 1st Iron fist being brought in to denote the 1sts of all these particular avengers, therefore not denoting a time before that. In Don McGregor’s run in the 1960s and 1970s Bashenga was the FIRST Black Panther and the 1st to use the Vibranium Meteor. In COATES BP in a meeting with King Negus AND BP 1 Mill, ALL BPs at the meeting called KING NEGUS the eldest Black Panther. Now in THIS X men Issue, Visually it was KING NEGUS who was used as the BP who used the Vibranium Mound to create Skybreaker and was the Ancestor to the Wakandas. YET they say Olumo is the “First Father of Wakanda” who made the Skybreaker. THEN when it follows the lineage you THEN see a panther who looks VISUALLY like BP 1 Mill/Bashenga. King Negus is also VISUALLY the only BP who DOESNT look like your stereotypical BP uniform, he looks like a King and also speaks Differently than all other BPs INCLUDING Black Panthers including 1 mill. The question is, WHO WAS THE 1st BP? King Negus, BP 1 mill or Bashenga or Olumo?

I thought this issue was great. Storm shined. I dug the art and the struggle Storm had to go through. Her sword looks and sounds awesome too. Excited to see her duel.
I kinda wanna see Forge and Storm try again with their relationship. I know its an underrated romance but Forge is so overlooked i think he kinda needs it to gain more popularity. I would make Forge's real name "David Blackbird" and he marries Storm and she becomes "Ororo Blackbird" translating to beautiful Blackbird that would be sick. But hey, a fan can dream right?
Honestly I agree, but I feel like rekindling their relationship would actually hurt Forge more than help him since with the way Marvel treats relationships especially in the case of the x-men, it probably would only end in heartbreak again and undermine Forge's character. I rather Ororo just be a free woman who doesn't need to be tied down to a single man unless it actually develops her character and not what they tried to do with her and Logan. The Logan relationship was fine at first, but look who he went running back to! Although I will admit I did favor the relationship between her and T'challa because they were cute together and they represented probably the only strong black couple in comics (I wish they had Black Panther team up with the x-men when they were married because I feel like Scott and him would get along quite well and a team up between Wolverine and BP would be cool to see since they seem like they would have the best partner dynamic in terms of fighting prowess)

I loved the issue but felt it should have been a 2 parter instead of Logans 2parter which i found boring. I also disliked Storm not waiting a single day before betraying Wakandas trust. They were willing to commit troops to her defense and didnt treat her with disrespect at any point and she basically acted like she could trample over their rights because she is Storm. I hope at the end of this we get a story where she has t ocome back to wakanda and ask for forgiveness and make repairations to them.
Well she better, she gotta return that sword and I don't think she can leave it on the door step with a note ring the doorbell and run.... though it would be funny to watch

The story was whack, Why would she not go directly to BB? and how lame is the premise that when a hero/friend says the world is endanger. The answer is "No,"
The same thing can be said for James foster who had cancer, yet she or the writers forgot Wakanda has the cure for it. I understand yall frustration and do agree, I just hope BP and Storm will get back together officially and have kids, also give us the best writer for their story

One thing that doesnt reach comics that often is ororo is seen often as a goddess of agriculture . I feel this would carry over from her history in africa to wakanda . I mean word gets around. Also i feel Storm having a child with Tchalla is long over due. I think Tchalla would hide a child from xavier plus this potential mutant would be the inheritor of the eventual throne . Tchalla and Storm getting a divorce could also be done to hide the fact they have a child together to hide such a child allowing a potential new character appearing as a teenager.
I think its pronounced 'Mer-kay-ter' not 'Merkah-tor'. Like on the Map, i.e. Mercator Projection. The issue was really well done, my fave after Creation so far. The Black Panther mythology and overall art was on point, not to mention Storm's white costume!! Whoaaaa!! So good.
I hope in this story the x-men go get some extra swords. Like the Odin sword. The sword of Surter. Or at least go see Dr. Strange for a boost to the swords.

Its interesting who put BB and Storm together and who attempts to tear them apart. This is a brainless story. Storm could have called BB and got the same result, and we can see where this story is going
I know a lot of people like this because it’s Storm, so whatever, but for me it was the weakest issue in this event so far. Both plot- and art- wise. Ororo had no reason at all to do all this, since it’s her country anyway just like Krakoa, and T’Challa and the people would understand her reasons fairly well. Now I understand WHY it was written that way. They are planting seeds for YET another pointless event like Avengers x X-Men in the future. Be prepared for “Wakanda x Krakoa”. Ororo will be directly responsible for thousands of useless deaths and will regret it forever (just like Jean Grey).

I find Skybreaker super interesting. Unlike Wolverine, we don't know who Storm will fight. With that added info about Skybreaker strengthening inorganic material I will predict her opponent will have at least part of them made up of something inorganic. Having Storm channel her lighting into the blade to defeat her opponent sounds too lazy. Each of these fights will be difficult and significant for the future of X-Men.
I know i keep saying this but the only thing that is keeping me from fully LOVING this event (and the Krakoa age in general) is the lack of and under-utilization of ROGUE. Come on guys she should be a swordbearer. An energy absorbing or life absorbing sword could be perfect. Ugh maybe im just grasping here bc she is my favorite but damn u miss her in this event.

Such a bad story... plot-wise... introducing a new Wakandan sword (not part of any previous Wakandan lore) to cause even more drama between Ororo and T'Challa... basically giving a "F you" to what Coates has been building over the last 4 years. Why not give her the Sword of Bone to connect to her Magical Heritage?... And even besides the plot, so many inconsistencies just for plot reasons: 1. Shuri fighting Storm without using her Ancestral magical powers. Like, why? Lol. 2. Storm talking about how she DOESN'T HAVE TIME... and then basically sitting with Logan and Magik at the end WAITING for the rest of the champions to arrive with their swords. Lol. 3. Literally putting on a different costume instead of simply transforming her white suit black. 4. She's a Wakandan Goddess (even mentioned in the latest Marvel Encyclopedia) and yet people... especially Shuri and the Queen Mother... are against giving a Wakandan Goddess a blade (no one has heard about before, lol) to save the world? While she (in Coates' main BP run) has helped them defeat countless threats. The story could have been handled a lot better if Storm had to go on Mystical Trial to determine IF she was worthy of wielding the Skybreaker instead of soapy drama. The "MAIN" point of this story was to cause a rift (again) between T'Chall and Ororo... the rest was just an excuse to connect it to the X of Swords event.

It's a king's weapon made for the king. So they will sceptical okay. And also she is representing krakoa and not wakanda with that weapon. Plus the king has to give permission cause as shuri said it can destabilize wakanda. Other than that I agree with everything you said.

One thing I with Marvel would do is give T'challa and Storm a book together. Just with them as the main characters. We can see how it is for them to be dating again and going around the world on dates and saving people. We can see what it's like to be so busy for T'challa since he's a king, leader of the Avengers, represents earth in the council Leauge of Relams and he has to figure out what to do with the multi-galactic of Wakanda.
Having read storm & t'challa rekindle thier love over the past year's this definitely hurt to read 😢. It was a great issue non the less & another great aspect of Hickman X-Men. Hickman keeps finding ways to inflict mortal wounds on a semi immortal people. My only concern with this breaking off of Storm & t'challa is will future X-Men writers/stories give her shine more than just firing off lightning bolts. The thing about her being in the black panther comics over the last 5 years is that she received more upgrades in regards to her power & personality than any X-Men comics have been doing. I'm gonna trust Hickman to do her justice in the future but I'm also concerned. Another great review .

I’ve been saying this for a while now. Storm in “Black Panther” has been better than Storm in “X-Me “ and is certainly more powerful, taking on an alien fleet by herself, changing environments from space...and her rekindled relationship with Black Panther. I feel this issue of Marauders stepped around the fact that Storm has been a mainstay in Wakanda for a while now as a huge compound the Wakndan Empire War and has a much closer relationship with Shuri than what was played out here.
I been thinking the samething when I seen she was able to effect the Killmonger hybrid from a Galaxy away I was like damn Storm is on her Thor level shit now.
Doing what Storm did will create a conflict between Krakoa and Wakanda. That will bring the entire planet involved. From America, Atalin, Latveria , Atlantis and ect.

What Coates has been able to do with Storm as a "guest/supporting" character in the Black Panther is far better compared with whatever the main X-Men writers have been doing with her over the years. I think they didn't like Coates (who is a better and more accomplished writer than most) writing Storm better and the X-Men decided to take her back WHILE throwing away Coates work (over 4 years) out the window.
The Senior Editor Jordan D White has been saying they have BIG PLANS for Storm in 2021... unless those BIG PLANS involve building on the groundwork Coates has laid (especially involving Storm's Godhead) I don't think said plans will be any good. They're likely just lip service from the X-Men writing team and Storm will find herself in the "Black Mother hen" role when Vita's "Children of the Atom" comic book debuts next year.

This comic was fantastic and amazing, not just because it is a Storm centered story and that is part of X of Swords but also because is talking about future setups for the future of the X-men and maybe other marvel content.
I have this three theories for future storylines now:
1.-There might be a new Avengers vs X-men storyline or more likely an new Avengers and X-men story like House of M, specially considering that some of the Avengers (Namor and Wolverine too) are gonna get powered (possessed?) by the Phoenix Force.
2.-The fact that there is a posibility that Absolon and Mad Jim Jaspers have their own kingdoms that they rule in Otherworld (and that they are Omega Warpers) makes me think that if Saturnyne is still an antagonist to the mutants (is likely it might be considering Marauders #15 cover) there is a chance that there will be some sorth of alliance between Monarc, Absolon and Mad Jim Jaspers against her (most likely to detrone her of Otherworld) and that could be something like they became a new Quiet Council but in Otherworld. In this case they might be some sorth of a Trimvirate of Omegas for Otherworld.
3.- Mr. Sinister might send the Hellions to retrive Absolon (and maybe Jim's too) DNA in order to start planning the creation of his mutant Chimeras. He might start with Alfas and another mutants DNA's (like we saw with North, Cardinal and himself) and then he'll start creating Quimeras with DNA of Omegas and other compatible mutants (like Rasputin).
I asked on the other video but maybe you'd see this - do you have a discord group set up? Might be a good idea to do so (easier to chat and interface with others without being on youtube comments.
Great question, because I was actually wondering the same thing.
The issue made Storm look like an idiot though. "I'm in such a hurry. Must steal sword. Can wait a bit for my ex that does anything for me" then she ends up chilling with wolvie and magic not being in such a hurry after all. Kinda felt like an artificial way to build tension between wakanda and krakoa.
She was running out of time. She had 3 days at the start of the issue and Shuri wasn't clear when Tchalla will arrive. She only said "a few days". I would hardly call her stupid

I was thinking the tidbit about strengthening former biological items was referring to the wood used for the hilt. That doesn't preclude it from being a hint at something completely different. I just assumed on face value, that's what it was talking about.

I loved this issue. Probably my favorite marauders issue. Art was great. This kind of action was what I wanted in giant size Storm.
She may be basing her comment of Arakko being twisted on the small amount of the Arakko army marching on Otherworld. Before Saturnyne's intervention, the opposing army was raising Krakoan mutant Unus on a cross.
I didn't think Hickman and Marvel would want Storm and T'challa at odds once more. Especially since the past 3-4 their relationship has gotten better and they are both together just not married.

This issue very much contradicts what’s been happening in “Black Panther” where Storm and BP are a couple, Storm is almost always in Wakanda, and she’s been way more powerful than what she’s been shown to be in X-Men comics. In BP she took out an entire alien fighter jet fleet...in Marauders she gets kicked by Batroc, smh.
The run is very out of continuity
PR Deadpool it’s not though. It’s like any other book that picks and chooses what it wants to acknowledge. Pretty much all of them. Avengers has paid 0 attention to the events of Captain America, Iron Man, etc. Up until Death of Wolverine and now Dawn of X, Wolverine comics didn’t exactly match up with X-Men comics. Amazing Spider-Man always does its own thing despite Spider-Man popping up everywhere else. At least in “Black Panther” though, Storm’s costume does change according to what she’s wearing in the X-Men comics and there was a passing reference to her role on Krakoa.
I can't understand what the X Office seems to have against Ororo and T'Challa as a couple. Everyone knows about Sue and Reed (Fantastic Four). Everyone knows about Scott, Jean, and Logan. Even Gambit and Rogue have a passionate fandom over them being a couple. Yet when it comes to T'Challa and Ororo... there's always some weird drama (they even got divorced). Ta-Nehisi Coates finally took the time to rebuild their relationship (it took him 4 years) in his Black Panther run... and yet, Marauders issue 13 threw it away. And the fact they had a Black writer to come and write this issue was just wow... why was Vita asked to write a 'SINGLE' issue? To make the breakup look not so bad cos a Black writer wrote it?
Also, when you think about it... why hasn't Marvel Comics (it's been decades) worked on giving the world an iconic couple where both partners are PoC? Again, T'Challa and Ororo were that (for many fans)... and yet, the X Office isn't interested in it at all.
And don't even get me started on the list of Omega-level mutants only having Storm in there as THE PoC. White people aren't even a majority (globally)... where are the Omega level mutants of Asian descent? Why is the list dominantly white men?
There are some serious issues going on in the X Offices... which is ironic considering the X-Men are supposed to be about discrimination and prejudice. Hopefully, they will address it all someday.
Yes, it is sad to see relationships between a Black male and female character be so wrought with strife and turbulence. Some might say it's 'fiery', but that implies that there are at least periods where they are blissful and happy. We rarely see healthy and whole Black relationships depicted in any media. I also don't consider Vita Ayala to be 'Black' per say, and they are also not invested in healthy relationships between Black men and women. I think Vita would likely be more invested in a relationship between Storm and Yukio (remember her, wasn't she cool?). As much as I do not like Ta-Nehesi Coates, I do think he at least was invested in showing a healthy Black relationship. The only Black (where both characters were Black) relationship in Marvel Comics in over 40 years.
There is a constant narrative in most media today that Black men and Women cannot come together or have healthy relationships. Vita Ayala continues this narrative by emphasizing Storm's female empowerment and 'yass gurrrl' moments at the cost of depicting healthy or harmonious relationship with T'Challa. While I loved seeing Storm in action, part of me is sad this was the cost of it.
AJ Raven, the problem with this couple is that they rushed the romance and almost immediately married them off after them not seeing each other for years and then only a few times PLUS they retconned their first meeting with Storm being rescued by the Panther instead of her saving HIM. Storm fans weren't happy. Why reduce her to that in order to marry her to T'Challa? If they had built up the relationship, not retconned their meeting I believe a lot of Storm fans would have been on board.
Very fair criticisms. Vita Ayala coming on for this issue and then taking over New Mutants is great, but you're spot on that creator representation in the X-Office needs to step up. Historically this is true across Big 2 comics.
I think Marvel will continue T'Challa and Ororo's romance despite these events (I guess I view it as a plot-driven setback rather than an ending). The only real defense (a bad one!) is that Marvel (and DC) have a real hang-up when it comes to marriage/long-term relationships for their heroes (see also: Spider-Man, Batman). I'd be very curious how/if this issue was considered by Ta-Nehisi Coates and the Black Panther team, given the fact that it clearly works against their story.
Comic Book Herald Spot on. I don’t see this as an ending but more of a necessary hurdle brought about by the story currently. This does have me concerned for the Storm story shaping up next year though.
While I agree with the Storm/T’Challa relationship arguments you’re making, I have issues with your other one. Introducing new characters, POC or not isn’t easy. It’s already difficult getting comic book readers to accept when they’re favorite heroes are taken in new directions but past that is next to impossible.
Most new mutants simply wouldn’t possess the staying power of older ones. Plus, and this is just personal opinion, the list of Omega level mutants shouldn’t be long. I like that it’s a short list of people and Storm being the only POC on it isn’t that big a deal. GS Storm seemed to start rebuilding the friendship she has with Monet/Penance if you are looking for other X woman of Color.
Also, and please don’t take this the wrong way, as I am in NO WAY arguing that representation isn’t important, however every character doesn’t need to look like me in order for me to identify with them. Storm and Wolverine and Iron-Man and Spider-Man (Peter and Miles) are dear to me and I sure as hell don’t look like all but two of them. Not saying I wouldn’t mind more unique characters but I don’t need to look like someone to resonate with what they represent.
SN: White people may not be a majority globally but they are the majority of comic book readers. Specifically white males. Marvel and DC are simply catering to the demographic that account for their consumer base. It’s better, in my opinion, to ask for better writers for the POC characters that we already have before asking untested/veteran writers to give us new ones.

Could it be they'll retcon history to say some X-Man events happened during some of Mioria's past lives we didn't see? Past arcs that were mutants only we were seeing moment in a life she had already lived, but we didn't know ?

I can not figure out how the Hellions will tie into X of Swords. It seems like all the other upcoming issues are the teams of the rest of the sword bearers except for Gorgon, but I think you are right that Hickman will want to tell that story. "An advance into the unknown," from the solicitation of Hellions #5 is pretty vague. I don't think they can go on missions to Otherworld since they obviously can't be trusted to not kill each other (plus two weeks out seems like they are all going to kick the bucket based on multiple cover arts). I'm sure something will happen that will throw a wrinkle in the tournament in some way.

Considering that X-Force was just a Wolverine issue and Mauraders was just a Storm issue, Hellions will most likely be another character centered issue.
About skybreaker's secret history, there's no hint here. It was just to showcase how strong the sword is. It's written "prolonged contact". So the only thing it affected is the sword's grip and pommel. Those were made of wood and leather, the hilt is now stronger than steel. Meaning with time it will be unbreakable. Would probably be stronger than Mjolnir if it was as old.
Honestly this is confusing to the Black Panther lore:
According to Odin, BP 1 mill BC was the first to use the Vibranium meteor to further Wakanda and the BP cult. And the Avengers 1 mill BC was set in the stone age for a reason with Agamotto and the 1st Iron fist being brought in to denote the 1sts of all these particular avengers, therefore not denoting a time before that.
In Don McGregor’s run in the 1960s and 1970s Bashenga was the FIRST Black Panther and the 1st to use the Vibranium Meteor.
In COATES BP in a meeting with King Negus AND BP 1 Mill, ALL BPs at the meeting called KING NEGUS the eldest Black Panther. Now in THIS X men Issue, Visually it was KING NEGUS who was used as the BP who used the Vibranium Mound to create Skybreaker and was the Ancestor to the Wakandas. YET they say Olumo is the “First Father of Wakanda” who made the Skybreaker.
THEN when it follows the lineage you THEN see a panther who looks VISUALLY like BP 1 Mill/Bashenga.
King Negus is also VISUALLY the only BP who DOESNT look like your stereotypical BP uniform, he looks like a King and also speaks Differently than all other BPs INCLUDING Black Panthers including 1 mill.
The question is, WHO WAS THE 1st BP? King Negus, BP 1 mill or Bashenga or Olumo?

I kinda wanna see Forge and Storm try again with their relationship. I know its an underrated romance but Forge is so overlooked i think he kinda needs it to gain more popularity. I would make Forge's real name "David Blackbird" and he marries Storm and she becomes "Ororo Blackbird" translating to beautiful Blackbird that would be sick. But hey, a fan can dream right?

Honestly I agree, but I feel like rekindling their relationship would actually hurt Forge more than help him since with the way Marvel treats relationships especially in the case of the x-men, it probably would only end in heartbreak again and undermine Forge's character. I rather Ororo just be a free woman who doesn't need to be tied down to a single man unless it actually develops her character and not what they tried to do with her and Logan.
The Logan relationship was fine at first, but look who he went running back to! Although I will admit I did favor the relationship between her and T'challa because they were cute together and they represented probably the only strong black couple in comics (I wish they had Black Panther team up with the x-men when they were married because I feel like Scott and him would get along quite well and a team up between Wolverine and BP would be cool to see since they seem like they would have the best partner dynamic in terms of fighting prowess)

I loved the issue but felt it should have been a 2 parter instead of Logans 2parter which i found boring. I also disliked Storm not waiting a single day before betraying Wakandas trust. They were willing to commit troops to her defense and didnt treat her with disrespect at any point and she basically acted like she could trample over their rights because she is Storm. I hope at the end of this we get a story where she has t ocome back to wakanda and ask for forgiveness and make repairations to them.

One thing that doesnt reach comics that often is ororo is seen often as a goddess of agriculture . I feel this would carry over from her history in africa to wakanda . I mean word gets around. Also i feel Storm having a child with Tchalla is long over due. I think Tchalla would hide a child from xavier plus this potential mutant would be the inheritor of the eventual throne . Tchalla and Storm getting a divorce could also be done to hide the fact they have a child together to hide such a child allowing a potential new character appearing as a teenager.
I think its pronounced 'Mer-kay-ter' not 'Merkah-tor'. Like on the Map, i.e. Mercator Projection. The issue was really well done, my fave after Creation so far. The Black Panther mythology and overall art was on point, not to mention Storm's white costume!! Whoaaaa!! So good.

I know a lot of people like this because it’s Storm, so whatever, but for me it was the weakest issue in this event so far. Both plot- and art- wise. Ororo had no reason at all to do all this, since it’s her country anyway just like Krakoa, and T’Challa and the people would understand her reasons fairly well. Now I understand WHY it was written that way. They are planting seeds for YET another pointless event like Avengers x X-Men in the future.
Be prepared for “Wakanda x Krakoa”. Ororo will be directly responsible for thousands of useless deaths and will regret it forever (just like Jean Grey).

I find Skybreaker super interesting. Unlike Wolverine, we don't know who Storm will fight. With that added info about Skybreaker strengthening inorganic material I will predict her opponent will have at least part of them made up of something inorganic. Having Storm channel her lighting into the blade to defeat her opponent sounds too lazy. Each of these fights will be difficult and significant for the future of X-Men.

I know i keep saying this but the only thing that is keeping me from fully LOVING this event (and the Krakoa age in general) is the lack of and under-utilization of ROGUE. Kitana Edenian for starters her not respecting shuri’s concerns and completely glossing over the fact that the sword is embedded in their culture ,as someone who literally radiates culture herself is jus mind boggling..then it’s them always tying her to wakanda and completely ignoring her Kenyan roots (where it would’ve been the perfect time to introduce the soul sword I think that Storm ancestor wielded as sorcerer supreme. Plus the main guy at x office doesn’t actually even understands Storm powers which is a problem in of itself.

@@kitanaedenian2575 look at how she treats other Black people. She’s ok with being worshipped but when asked to see eye to eye with another she always sells out. It never fails. This is the second time she has betrayed Wakanda and Black panther
Such a bad story... plot-wise... introducing a new Wakandan sword (not part of any previous Wakandan lore) to cause even more drama between Ororo and T'Challa... basically giving a "F you" to what Coates has been building over the last 4 years. Why not give her the Sword of Bone to connect to her Magical Heritage?... And even besides the plot, so many inconsistencies just for plot reasons:
1. Shuri fighting Storm without using her Ancestral magical powers. Like, why? Lol.
2. Storm talking about how she DOESN'T HAVE TIME... and then basically sitting with Logan and Magik at the end WAITING for the rest of the champions to arrive with their swords. Lol.
3. Literally putting on a different costume instead of simply transforming her white suit black.
4. She's a Wakandan Goddess (even mentioned in the latest Marvel Encyclopedia) and yet people... especially Shuri and the Queen Mother... are against giving a Wakandan Goddess a blade (no one has heard about before, lol) to save the world? While she (in Coates' main BP run) has helped them defeat countless threats.
The story could have been handled a lot better if Storm had to go on Mystical Trial to determine IF she was worthy of wielding the Skybreaker instead of soapy drama.
The "MAIN" point of this story was to cause a rift (again) between T'Chall and Ororo... the rest was just an excuse to connect it to the X of Swords event.
I haven't been following Coates BP run, how was Storm's & T'Challa relationship going on there?

I second you entirely, except that ART-wise the story was also meh. This is obviously an excuse to bring a “Wakanda x Krakoa” storyline in the near future. Sadly Ororo can be directly responsible for the deaths of many.
It's a king's weapon made for the king. So they will sceptical okay. And also she is representing krakoa and not wakanda with that weapon. Plus the king has to give permission cause as shuri said it can destabilize wakanda. Other than that I agree with everything you said.
So yay the X-Men fans and writers are gonna ruin black panther again... Yay.... Atleast remove that 'tribute to Chadwick Boseman' title when you guys are gonna release it. OK. That's what black panther fans can ask with the given history.

The Goddess needs to be paired with an equally (or more) powerful God as well like Thor. Imagine how goodlooking and powerful their offspring would be.
Nobody ....nobody walks into Wakanda and steals shit. Panther will never allow anyone to.take Skybreaker ....except for his Boo .Storm . He really loves her there perfect for each other.
