- In this video I review the highly anticipated LAAL look ahead analogue limiter. This is one of the best limiters you will ever hear. So subtle that you wouldn't even know it was active. No longer does look ahead limiting have to be done in the box. The perfect tool we didn't know what possible.

I would love to hear it up against the better maker on some more aggressive material like metal as well.
Beautiful looking and sounding unit
The transparency of this limiter is insane! Even at extreme settings I still hear transients. Lovely box!
Glad I ordered one of these at the start of the year!
Let us know when you get it. Would love to hear some demos.
@@beatchildproductions Yeah I have used it since the end of February on maybe 300 masters now. Very very cool. Has an insane burn-in period of maybe 4 weeks or so.
Wish I had it for Carl Cox's album last year!
I said this on Gearspace: I am beginning to understand the Dynamic Transient a bit more. Basically, it undoes the darkening of longer release times.
So you can use 50ms with it on and it will sound very much like 2ms. Whereas with 2ms it does almost nothing.
So you get to hit it hard and have no bass distortion but make the details sound like its super fast.
Thats what gives it a massive massive edge over all the other analog limiters I own.
I can regularly use 5dB or even 7dB gain reduction, depending on the track and it sounds awesome.
Levels way beyond the Bettermaker, Neve, Maselec MPL2, Limit one etc.
Anyone want my Bettermaker for $2.5K Aud? Haha.
If I had to start again from scratch the LAAL would be amongst the first bits of gear I would re-buy.
Good sign.
Its an absolutely excellent machine in every way. Now that it's burned in fully I am regularly hitting 7dB without issues. So easy to get whatever loudness levels the clients want. I don't even have to think about it.
Thank you Krzysztof for building it!! 10/10
Outstanding unit.
I always chuckle when I hear people in the UK say “kit” instead of gear or equipment. In the USA a “kit” is something you build yourself.
well in the UK "gear" means illicit substances so...
Wow, i may have found my new mastering limiter
I'm not sure if it's just a case of not picking the best release times for the material but the LAAL sounded more pumpy than I would have expected. Of course the best thing to do would be to get a demo in here. It'd be foolish to write it off before actually trying it on material myself.
I can't recall what mode and Attack/Release configuration you need to remove the clipping from L2 but there is a way, I still think this beast will sound better than L2 . Very impressive sound and price 😅
my god !!!! how good is that
Get on to Jason for a demo it is awesome.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio if I demo that I'd get a divorce
@@stuemerson172 Cause you beta
What’s the of the song at 15:00 ?
So I guess they reduce a lot of the peak level while introducing transient perception in the rms level, while the transformers add psychoacoustic volume perception... I don't know thats why I guessing
it would be nice if the switches were like the ones on the vertigo units ,they look like the ones on the chandler curve bender ,mine went noisy after a while .
The Vertigo switches are straight out of a fighter jet. They are solid switches.
Whats is the cheap mama version gear wise?
A Bettermaker limiter would be a good alternative
@@AudioAnimalsStudio im thinking I could afford the Hum but now the new bettermaker v2 is out ...alternative wise have you ever considered/used the Rupert Neve MBC limiter
@1kingstan795 I'm not a huge fan of Rupert Neve compression or limiting. I had the MBP which I hated the compression and limiting on. The MBC limiter could be a different story, I haven't used it enough to make an informed comment on it.
The answer we all want to know. Have you added to your hack?
We added 2. One to each studio.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio that's amazing. For sure it will be my next investment.
Thank you for the answer.
Nowhere gives you a price for the unit?
should have waited for the video to finish!
Around £8800. That's about the price every shop online is selling them for.
Hi Malcolm, we have distributors and dealers in many countries. Please let us know where are you from?
Almost looks like the wes audio ng bus comp, TBH
Maybe a bit similar… Also Polish:)
@HUM Audio Devices I wasn't meaning in a bad way, it is absolutely stunning! I WANT ONE BAD!
@MYSTA MYSTA SMOOTH Many thanks!!!
How funny that it looks like an acustica audio plugin
There is no problem other than the high price
Guessed 10 Gs
too pumpy to my ears
He’s limiting so many dabs who could know.
idk man
something about it isn't right. but the width control on 6 sounds good!
A button is not just a button.
