- Floodwaters are affecting the lives of millions across Bangladesh, with at least 15 people killed. The floods were caused by heavy rains and water from upstream in India. Rescue operations are struggling to cope.

India deliberately opened all the gates of their dams at the middle of the night without any prior warning causing huge flood in Bangladesh. Even in many areas of Bangladesh there wasn't any flood since last many yrs, r now flooded. this caused a huge problems for Bangladeshi people, many people died, they had no preparations to move elsewhere thus they were stuck in the flood. This is strictly violation of international laws, which they are doing every year to their neighbouring country.
without the dam, bangladesh would be flooded more frequently. there wouldn't be dry settlements for bangladesh downstream with the river flowing without limit.

It is indeed due to our geographical position, which we can't help, but there are international laws on constructing dams on transboundary rivers that require bilateral or multilateral agreements. The previous government is also responsible for this, though. India should have informed Bangladesh before opening it, as India controls the water flow.

And these agreements include all these clauses about water sharing, management of infrastructure, even about systems for flood alerts and warning systems. All dams areade under these agreements. I think you guys need to see the details on the agreement on this river and dams, file a report from your govt about whether India issued warning in advance and if India foes not then you can even take India to International Court of Justice for breaking a bilateral agreements and India would have to pay for all the damages in flood. ICJ holds the parties accountable in International agreements. This is different from International Criminal Court which hold parties accountable to war crimes or crimes against humanity... This is the right approach. Also, you guys need to develop multi stage barages in your territory against flood waters and alao stop encroachment on flood basins of rivers to mitigate such damages. 1998 flood was much more damaging in past 30 years of Bangladesh history... This is not that much. I think, whole of goverment system in Bangladesh is in turmoil and no one is in control and incharge therefore caliousnes in your administration should also be dealt with. So, your approach has three approach, first is to see the mistake in your system and try to make it better, second to see the culpability of India and hold Indoa accountable at ICJ if there is any such case and third is to take steps so as to prevent such disasters in future on your soil by your multi stage barages and warning systems. This would be the First world way of handling things. Blaming others in Third World way.
So basically this massive flood was caused intentionally by India. Those who don't know India opened their dam gates in Tripura region after 31 years without informing Bangladesh. Tripura is right beside South Eastern zone of Bangladesh. This caused heavy flood there. It's a disgusting act done by India to create more chaos in Bangladesh. This is not the first time India did this, shows how selfish of a neighbor India is.

Why didn’t you cover the Khagrachhari hill tract district? There is also flood in that area. Apart from the majority bangali, in Khagrachhari the indigenous people also suffered due to the flood.

It was all India's plan. India deliberately opened all the gates of Farakka Dam without any prior warning that too in the middle of the night when people were sleeping. India could have given advance warning but they didn't. If the gates of the dam were not opened all at once but were opened slowly then this danger would not have come to Bangladesh. And the Indian government is fully responsible for the condition of India & Bangladesh. If he had not changed the course of the river and dammed it, neither India nor Bangladesh would have faced this danger.
