- After what has been a very long search, Here it is now. I present you the closing theme from AW that was used from 1981 up until 1987. This is FULLY clean without voiceovers. And what's best is that no outside sources were used to put it all together. The only change I made to this was to extend it a little.

I LOVE this theme! My favorite AW theme!
To me it’s a tolerable theme but the themes used before this was better. This is like the last theme AW had I liked until the last year when they had this Sax closing theme.
This is from the time period when Another World had way too many characters and some odd storylines.
You bet-- the best theme music that AW ever had! That Gayle/Morris theme song was far too sappy for me, and don't get me started on the 1996-99 theme.

Loved it. I liked the way the producers / creators paid homage to the interlocking rings... I was never a fan of the silhouettes - - and would have preferred those being omitted... but the letters appearing, and the colors of the whole thing; the theme - liked it a lot. Thanks for posting! As for the latter Gary Morris / Crystal Gayle theme - I liked it fine, but the very lyrical suggestion that it took someone else to take you to 'Another World' for me was not the central theme of the show. A little co-dependent for me lyric-wise.... Thx for this... Fun!

This is a perfect theme for a soap. It gives a feeling of anticipation for exciting things to come. This and the original orchestrated version of the ATWT are my absolute favorites.
Hearing this brings me to tears! My late mom used to watch AW and I remember this AND the prior themes. THANK YOU for the memories!
This was no doubt their best theme ever and the very end of it was the best.

My grandma loved this soap and I remember waking up from a nap to hear this ending on TV as a boy. Never failed to make me feel good.
Many thanks for posting this! It was a real favorite of mine back in the 80’s! I made an audio recording of this theme and played it repeatedly in my car when I would take weekend trips to see my parents when they lived out of state. I have warm memories of listening to this music, and looking forward to my mother’s home cooking while driving down the highway! Thanks for reminding me if a special memory!
I think we have just passed the 40th anniversary of when this lovely theme music (and graphics/animation, to boot) debuted on that NBC serial called Another World.
Yes, 1981 was a big sweep of P&G soap themes updated, such as ATWT, SFT, and GL.
ACTUALLY IT,S HARD TO BELIEVE TODAY IN 2024 IT WOULD BE THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANOTHER WORLD!! UNBELIEVABLE!! IT DEBUTED MAY 4 1964 & AIRED 35 YEARS ON NBC TV UNTIL JUNE 25 1999!!--just like next year 2025 Days Of Our Lives will be on the air for 60 years!!(57 years on regular NBC TV & almost 3 years on Peacock!!

The Actress Who Played Blanche On THE GOLDEN GIRLS Was The Late Rue McClanahan She Once Played On ANOTHER WORLD As Caroline Johnson For One Year From 1970 Until 1971.
One of my Favorite Themes for Another World.
I think this was their best theme and definitely the intro was their all time best. AW should always have kept the interlocking rings. Their trademark.

If I may say something else here-- the opening of AW in this time (which you have at the top of this clip with the first notes/bars of the music) was also, IMO, the best that that NBC serial ever had (in that it had the wreath of interlocking rings stretching out and becoming tunnel-like [same as was on Sunday Morning on CBS w/the late Charles Kuralt, w/the CBS eye doing the same thing], then the big light and silhouetted faces, and finally the AW title swinging in like the hinges on a door and coming together).
When I first saw it, I didn't know what that thing was that was coming forward so fast; I then revisited that opening from a defunct site called The World of Soap Themes, and then gained perspective to what it was and how it worked; it's far less scary now.
I miss "Another World"
It is currently the 10th Longest Daytime Soap Opera in Daytime Soap Opera History for 35 years after Guiding Light for over 72 1/2 years, General Hospital for 60 years, Days of our Lives for over 57 years, As the World Turns for 54 years, The Young and the Restless for 50 years, One Life to Live for nearly 44 years altogether, All My Children for nearly 42 years altogether, The Bold and the Beautiful for 36 years, and Search for Tomorrow also for 35 years producing somewhat more episodes than Another World.

Love this!! Always good to have the full announcer free closing theme! I wish the 1983-89 version of the Ryan's Hope theme surfaced! I do have the 1980-83 version that is more orchestrated,but my favorite was the more uptempo 1983 version.
The uptempo version of the Ryan’s Hope is also my favorite! I also have a clear version of the 1975-80 theme of RH.

This theme song was a big reason I started watching Another World, that and I was looking for another soap to watch after NBC cancelled Texas. I wasn’t watching Another World when it spun off Texas, but I figured, why not start watching the mother show. The storylines at the time had me hooked till the end in 1999.

The ending credits to this theme remind me of an episode where the ending scene faded out before we could see the woman accused of a crime. As the closing credits played the producer allowed the full imagine of Donna Love sitting at a vanity. I remember yelling to my mom that they showed who the woman was. The episode had to be around 1983-84 because we got a new colour tv in 1983 and we moved in Jan 1985.

This is a very nice theme but for me, the actual show had lost so much of its appeal that I never really embraced the music. Soaps have lives/eras and for me AW from the early 1970s to 1980 was its heyday.

I always think that Christopher Cross should have used "Sailing" as a theme for AW during the 1980-81 season....but then I think of all the royalties NBC would've had to shell out to CC for use of his music...
Obviously, he turned it down.
The very best, richest team that was the one that preceded this. It was an updated version in the late 70s of the version they used in the late 60s and early 70s. They also used that theme for the 90 minute episodes in 1978 and 79. I think that's the most beautiful theme well this is my close second, because the show was the very best of whatever be in that period. After they lost Harding the May and then Tom King the show sputtered and ran through a whole bunch of different riders. The 70s up until about 80 to where the shows prime. It would have many great moments and wonderful characters I would come later including Felicia and Cass but the perfect AW was the one just proceeding his name

I have all 3 of the themes to Another World, including the one that was performed by Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris. I may not be a fan of the daytime soaps, but the themes to Another World dating back to 1967 were memorable.

One thing that always bothered me about this opening was the two O’s in the title should have been interlocking. That’s what made it stand out as a logo.
I think the reason why the more well-remembered 70s title (the kaleidoscope wreath) had that was that it was supposed to represent the bonds of marriage (wedding rings, perhaps).
Next Year will mark 40 years since Another World changed its theme song and opening shown right here

All of which Another World has different theme songs such as the 1981-1987, 1987-1996 and 1996-1999 ones. Each one had very good ideas to sing a song with a great pair of friends. And I think Another World’s theme music and song really meant something to me as well as meant so much to us around the world.

No. I don't think so. Only time knows how I may end up doing it if I end up trying it

I like it fine but it doesn't hold a candle to the theme it replaced.

One of the best classic P&G soap themes through the 80's. The last one in the late 90's was an awful choice and too primetime for daytime. GL's later themes were also pretty terrible too!
What's the theme for "Another World: Somerset"?
At the beginning of the video, the stars in the night sky look similar to NBC's Our Pride is Showing (ruclips.net/video/n3fnUmAu9lw/видео.html), which came out the same year as the AW theme
And the late Tom Kennedy was on Password Plus when this opening debuted for Another World; this opening was on AW for the last seven months of Password Plus's run.
