I also don't understand why everyone got so mad at Flats for being honest about where the money for the Brig event was going. A) streaming is his job, he has bills to pay. Why would an event change that? Did all those people that got mad just think the streamers would just, idk, not use the money they make from their JOB? B) Then there's the people that made the argument "oh he's fishing for money, he's using a sob story" y'all... he's a content creator. Creating content is what gets him paid. Even if he was "fishing" for money, he still wasn't making millions, or even thousands, off an event. Just based on the way Twitch pays its streamers, and how much the streamer earns from like gifted subs and stuff. C) Flats stated several times during the event and immediately after the event how grateful he was that everyone gifted enough subs he was able to finish paying off his student loans. It's not like he just took the money, said a casual thanks, and peaced. He actually got emotional (if my memory serves me correct) about all the support he was receiving FROM THE COMMUNITY. Overwatch always has been a good and close community. Yes, in recent years, it's gone downhill, but especially for streamers like Flats, it's always felt close-knit, and most of the support he received during the event was from his chat, and yes, those that enjoy his content AND wanted the Brig skin. D) do those people really think Flats using a literal meme is baiting people? Y'all... even I knew it was a meme and I wasn't there to witness the meme's origins. Like, who tf would openly say "I'm paying my student loans off with this money" unironically? It's not like he was constantly saying "gift me subs so you can get a skin and I can get my student loans paid off!" No, he just streamed as normal, advertised the skin event, and memed with his chat. Sorry for the long ass rant, but I had seen something recently about the hate Flats got from the Brig event and the fact Flats is aware just annoys me. Like, y'all are really gonna hate on someone promoting his job to pay off his debts? If I told you I got a job to pay off my student loans, everyone would be like "well yeah, makes sense" Flats just already had the job and was already working towards paying off his loans. Only difference is, he never openly said "yes, I'm using a portion of the money I make to pay off my loans" until that event, and he was mostly meme-ing (as he stated). Like, if you had been around long enough or knew Flats enough, you would know he had some serious student loans to pay off. Did people just assume they would magically disappear over time? You gotta make money to pay off your debts.
And now that he paid off his loans, he can help others. It's a cycle of help, it won't end with him. Plus, he's such a sweetheart. Of course he deserves it.
Bruh I’m in uni in the U.K, our accommodation comes with an oven, microwave and a toaster and a bunch of people usually bring an air fryer when moving in :,) (I am one of said people)
As a college student in Pennsylvania no lava lamps, toaster, sandwich press, etc.. Most college kids are stupid as shit. No water in ramen, burnt popcorn etc.. At least once a month the alarm would go off. Stupidity knows no bounds. If one alarm went off about 3-5 minutes later the whole building had to leave and wait outside for like 10 minutes.
As someone that went to a very big high school the rest of my uni felt "normal", but it's architecture and art college that had a lot of trust fund kids. As an art major who grew up poor I would know. Art majors usually come from well-off parents and I was one exception.
Yeah as a poor kid, I wanted to go to art school but the jobs after college went worth it ya know. I'm not gonna spend thousands of dollars only to have no job waiting. Witch I know happens in every profession you go to school for but the rates for art school are so bad.
I remember my freshman year of college I pretty often made spaghetti in a paper cup with the little 500 watt microwave in our rooms. According to our university, we weren't even allowed to have extension cords in our room because it was somehow a fire hazard. However, most of our floor new our RA did weed, so she kind of looked the other way when we brought in some stuff. One kid actually brought an induction stove and toaster to make eggs and toast every morning and the RA never ratted him out. The bathroom door for our suite (my dorm building was a suite style dorm with 5 rooms sharing a common bathroom) required a key to open, which we all found annoying. Now the actual building staff would come around and check to make sure nobody was using tape to prevent the bathroom doors from locking so my suite got creative. We took apart the latch mechanism in the door, did some fiddling with it, and got it to the point that if you kicked the door at the same time you jiggled the door handle, the door would unlock, however if you didn't know about that, the door would be locked and wouldn't open without a key. We quietly spread the word to other students and about 25 suites did this nobody got caught during the 2 years I stayed in the dorms. College was fun.
God I understand so completely. My mom became very neglectful after my dad died when i was a kid, and I've been basically starving for the majority of my life. Me and my two gf's are all living off of 1 snaps card and my stomach has shrunk so much that I can really only eat maybe 1 meal a day with a few snacks in between. I've hit that point where I'm so hungry all the time that I don't even really feel it anymore. It's so easy to spot people who are better off than you. I work the front desk of a nursing home and I get a LOT of rich older people coming through my facility. It's hilarious watching them try to make conversation with me, because our world's are so completely different that they can't even understand the thought of "the sweet boy who works the front desk doesn't make enough to eat consistently". They keep asking me if I've done my christmas shopping yet, and every time I'm like "Man! I wish I could go christmas shopping!"
We're literally asking the teacher: "Yo, could we get a coffee machine in the classroom?" And they are like: "Sure, if y'all buy one and bring the coffee"

On the one hand the rules about cooking stuff is dumb and makes eating more expensive for students. On the other hand its probably mostly a fire risk thing cause a lot of young students are super inexperienced being responsible with that kind of thing. It only takes one idiot forgetting leaving their burner on while they go out and party to burn down an entire dorm and likely kill several people.

I'm lucky to live in Sweden. Our politics believe that everyone should have equal opportunities and no mater money or background everyone helps eachother (through taxes). Well, in our law system we think it's fair that your ticket/fine is based on how much income you have, because it's not fair if a rich person can just speed on the roads how much they want without geting a "hurting" punishment. And our punishments is descibed by the politicians "not to punish you, but to make you fair off the consequences so that others and yourself don't commit this crime".
I hated the Brig Medic skin event because I couldn't get the skin. I tried, TRIED so hard to give you streamers my money but couldn't actually donate subs. Twitch simply wouldn't take my money. I am sad I couldn't join in on the event.
Also point blank the Brig event shouldn’t have been structured how it was. It’s great you paid your bills, but the fact is the event should not have happened under the structure Blizzard had it. Like it’s still money laundering even with an approved list of streamers.
I'm pretty sure I remember the Cass thing when you walked out and alt-f4'd - pretty sure you said something was wrong with your sens (which as it turns out, was cos it was synced with ow2) 😂😂😂
From your story Flats it sounds like the girl with the KIA understood what you meant, it did click, but she was going to do it anyway. Your argument makes sense but her rebuttal is a strong logical conclusion. It would cause pandemonium if everyone does it. But that’s an “if.” The reality is not everyone does it. Just she does. So there’s no reason to change the behavior. I don’t agree with her from a moral perspective but the logic itself is sound.
its not collage kids its americans , cah uk the dorms have kitchens or you pay more and get a private one XD man said no cooker or shit like that is crazy
Lol, the type of rich people you're talking about don't have to convince everyone how rich they are. They definitely don't drive KIAs or go to _ rate schools in nowheresville Rhode Island. Come out to Ca sometime, I'll introduce you to some actual rich people who live in the Palisades or Hollywood Hills.
always surprised how unhealthy people eat... nachos for two weeks? wtf? you can cook much healthier meals for pretty much the same price if you try a LITTLE bit harder
The problem with the Gift 3 Subs to your favourite streamer skin event was ....it was only for a limited amount of streamers. It wasn't any Overwatch streamer, it was just the big names. So it just came across as Blizzard just lining the pockets of their biggest streamers again. Which okay, is fair enough. They got enough negative backlash from it that moving forward any stream skins, you could watch the big streamers, or your small time streamer and get the drops, which helped ALL streamers big and small. Much better way of doing it.
Can we talk about the toxicity in OW2? I literally got cyber bullied because i decided to play JunkerQueen. The supports did nothing else but pocket dps and somehow its my fault cause i don't want to a "Meta" character? Wtf has this game came to smh...
The girl with the car sounded perfectly logical to me. The school has a deterrent against a certain action, but the girl wants to do that action and doesn't mind the deterrent. If everyone starts doing it then the deterrent is inadequate, and needs to be stronger. If she's still fine with the stronger deterrent then she'll keep doing the action. Realistically any deterrent is just meant to stop the vast majority of people; there will always be a minority of people who either don't care or can completely circumvent it.
Not a logical take. Flats’ hypothetical scenario to her is reality in many parts of the world. Would you be ok with someone hurting your family cause they can away with it ? lol
@@inquisitive6786 huh? What does that have to do with being logically sound? If someone hurt my family I would be upset.... because they hurt my family. That would have nothing to do with whether or not the consequences are worth it from the point of view of the perpetrator. I don't think you understand what logic is.
@@inquisitive6786 You literally just don't understand. I never said Flats didn't have a legitimate grievance or that the girl's actions were a net good; just that she wasn't being ILLOGICAL. The people in those places also wouldn't be illogical, BECAUSE there are no consequences to them. "Logical" doesn't always mean "good". There are people do immoral/unethical things for perfectly logical reasons all the time. Your hypothetical had nothing to do with my point.
The entire idea is that rule breaking is just not good etiquette regardless of whether you can afford the consequences or not. No one is arguing whether it was logical or not.
The rich parking lot girl was actually being more logical than Flats in that argument. She was saying that the rules didn't matter for her because there were no real consequences to herself or anyone else for breaking them. Whereas flats had to resort to pulling out hypotheticals that would never happen to make his point
This is a take from someone who’s lived in a culture where having order is normalised and the laws are enforced. Flats’ take is reality in many places all over the world.

Loving these story time videos, no further comment.
Cant have other home appliances besides microwave
Now i feel priviliged when my school had public toaster and coffee maker XD
Flats podcasts when?????
Not me waiting for the ult for half an hour
MORE FLATSVENTURES😤😤😤😤
flats grinning as he's like "yea the weed kids knew what was up"
Air fryers changed the game for dorms
Actually caught one early!
Also point blank the Brig event shouldn’t have been structured how it was. It’s great you paid your bills, but the fact is the event should not have happened under the structure Blizzard had it. Like it’s still money laundering even with an approved list of streamers.
Being a british girl, stories about American college always confuse me until i realise they're talking about university...
Dudes actually good at telling a story
"American diet".
Lmao he's right tho
Then you finish college, pay off debts, and then continue to eat cheese everyday.
Not being allowed a stove in college is a very American thing too tho x)
I'm pretty sure I remember the Cass thing when you walked out and alt-f4'd - pretty sure you said something was wrong with your sens (which as it turns out, was cos it was synced with ow2) 😂😂😂
HAND ME DOWN DURANGO SOLIDARITY BROTHER
Women LOOVE target its crazy
at the start the dude said American diet to him eating nachos. nachos weren't even made in America tho were they?
It's processed salty fatty crap. So American diet.
RUclipsrs are corporate America now tho😂
FLATVENTURES WOOOOOOOOOOOO
that girl is a literal npc
its not collage kids its americans , cah uk the dorms have kitchens or you pay more and get a private one XD man said no cooker or shit like that is crazy
Flats based hell
hi flats
Lol, the type of rich people you're talking about don't have to convince everyone how rich they are. They definitely don't drive KIAs or go to _ rate schools in nowheresville Rhode Island. Come out to Ca sometime, I'll introduce you to some actual rich people who live in the Palisades or Hollywood Hills.
Do you regret going to college now? Seems like a lot of money for a degree your not using.
Well now hel never regret not going im sure he paid his debt off
RUclips probably won't last forever, he'll have something to fall back on.
good vid!
I thought flats had a wife lol
always surprised how unhealthy people eat... nachos for two weeks? wtf? you can cook much healthier meals for pretty much the same price if you try a LITTLE bit harder
same lol I would feel like complete trash by the 3rd day
It doesn't mean it's the only thing he ate
@@whispr_2ME In this case logical means good. This is the entire point.
@@inquisitive6786 Sometimes its more practical to break the rules, and if its not hurting anyone then it really shouldn't be a problem.
@@padarousou roflmao at this point it is obvious you lack the capacity of getting it
@@padarousou Is this the part where you realize you are intellectually inferior and got nothing to say?
@@inquisitive6786 It's gonna be ok, you'll get over it
the story with parking gir. thats how andrew tate must feel
im with the rich girl. who cares if she pays the fine? lol funny.
