      I would disagree. My wife's ethnicity on MyHeritage doesn't resemble what her genealogical research has. I'm don't promote taking the DNA tests for ethnicity reports because they are the least valuable information the genetic tests provide.
      I also recommend that adoptees test with all the companies because you never know which database your relatives will be in.

(Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, and Norwegian) and 4.77% Caucasian and .23% Greek. His Skin tone, Facial structure, and family knowledge strongly suggest something different. We are Jewish, and his skin is as dark as a hardwood floor and we both have massive sniffers. Not saying it's completely wrong, for I am not a geneticist, but we have some doubts.

    I have documents from my family history researched years ago and with my DNA test I can say that Ancestry agrees more with documentary evidence I have rather than My Heritage. This may be due to Ancestry's larger remit of evidence. I have documented records back to the late 1400s in England which attest my largely English ancestry (I'm English anyway and both my maternal and paternal branches have been in North-West England for centuries), with the also attested Welsh. Ancestry also cites Norwegian and German which I have no record of and most likely is more ancient due to Viking settlement in northern England where I live, and German being the Anglo-Saxon (English/German) connection. I trust Ancestry at the moment but that may change when My Heritage increases its data base.

      Thrulines is not a DNA feature, it's a family tree matching feature. Theory of Relativity is MyHeritage's version and it is based on DNA.

    • @PNMarkW2
      @PNMarkW2 4 года назад +5

      @@paintitblack4199 Actually it is very much a DNA feature, it won't work without a DNA test on Ancestry. It will then use tree information to show where the people on your DNA match list link to your family tree, sometimes filling in the blanks for gaps in a family tree to find that common ancestor. But I will admit I was not familiar with Theory of Relativity on MyHeritage and I will look into it.

    • @paintitblack4199

Many Thrulines may also be wrong because a lot of the trees on Ancestry have wrong information. But yeah check out Theory of Relativity, it determines relationships and ancestors based on DNA matches, Family Trees and also Records. I found it to be much more accurate than Thrulines.

      @@paintitblack4199 Anything that uses someone else's tree, be it Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast, etc. is only going to be as accurate as the tree itself. And since I have the only perfect tree (sarcasm there in case it was missed) I always take anything that uses someone else's tree with a grain of salt.
      My point still stands though, ThruLines does use DNA in its results if only to help match people on your DNA list to your tree, and that was totally left out of the review presented and is at least as valid a DNA tool, if not more so, than looking at any list of potential DNA matches which was compared between the two services.

      @paulbaltzer4745 4 года назад +1

      @@paintitblack4199 I don't think MyHeritage is generating Theory of Relativity from DNA like you describe. It is not like it looks at your DNA match with for example, 400cM then looks for the Half First Cousin spot to fill. It is "basically" doing the same thing as Ancestry ThruLines; but with more documents and showing different possibilities of how people could connect. Forgive me for not entirely understanding your question.
      If you mean, are the Theories of Family Relativity and Ancestry ThruLines based on the same name, in the same place, at about the same time. Then yes. That's correct. And if people have differing trees, that will throw off the results.

    At AncestryDNA,
    my mother and I share 3,305 cM
    That is a 264 difference.
    My father has been dead for over 20 years, and so there is no way of checking my DNA against his.

    At Gedmatch,
    my paternal Aunt Carrie and I share 912.3 cM
    (segments at least 7 cM in length)
    At Ancestry DNA,
    my paternal Aunt Carrie and I share 766 cM
    That is a 146 cM difference.
    AncestryDNA is removing a lot of valid segments!
    I don't trust their Timber algorithm.
    I never did after I started losing matches that matched both my mother and me at other sites.
    I lost paternal Acadian DNA segment matches too, and some of them match me on other sites.
    I also checked my largest Acadian segment match at Ancestry. It's a Cajun woman that matches both me and my Aunt Carrie with a 27 cM segment match on Chromosome 5 but appears as a match to only me at AncestryDNA. AncestryDNA shows only 11.6 cM across 1 segment. That's 16 cM less than at Gedmatch.
    I am thinking that AncestryDNA wiped out much of my paternal European Chromosome 5 segment. I had three 11 cM Chromosome 5 matches that are 3 generations directly related at Gedmatch that used to appear at AncestryDNA. It was in the same area where I am matching people with Acadian ancestry.
    At Gedmatch, my largest chromosome segment with my Aunt Carrie is 89 cM segment on Chromosome 5 which seems to be my entire paternal Chromosome 5 European segment and where I am matching people with Acadian ancestry.
    Keep in mind that my Aunt Carrie is over 80 percent African.
    Ancestry seems to think much of my paternal European on Chromosome 5 is a pileup because I am matching too many people with Acadian (French in Nova Scotia,Canada) ancestry, and most of my 4 percent paternal European is the large segment on Chromosome 5. Well...If they read up on the Acadian history and genealogy, there is so much recent endogamy that all people with some amount of Acadian ancestry are related through at least one person that came to Nova Scotia from France in the 17th Century. Many of us are related to each other more than once and descend from an ancestor more than once. My 4th Great Grandmother Anastasia Bourgeois was 5 times a descendant of Jean Terriot and his wife Perrine Rau. She descended from 3 cousin couples that are no more distantly related than 3rd cousin.

      @@rosealexander9007 you can upload your dna to other sites . For men it made more sense to test with 23 and me and Ancestry, then upload to MyHeritage, familytreedna, Geni, and Gedmatch for free. I uploaded both my 23 and me and Ancestrydna to my heritage. There is a huge difference with the number of matches I have. Last week I purchased a myheritage kit to compare the results.

    MyHeritage was not good in my opinion. 23&Me and AncestryDNA had very similar results. Also their tools are better and don’t require that ridiculous $150 annual price. MyHeritage DNA result was completely different than those two. Based on my family history 23&me and AncestryDNA is more accurate. MyHeritage is probably better for people with high European DNA. Not so much for people from Latin America. Again this is just my opinion.

    I didn’t like MyAncestry. Every time I try and add to my tree or click the “smart match”...it kept saying that I had 0 matches. Yet I kept trying to add Aunt & Uncle matches to no avail. Dumb system, I’m surprised this guy rates it as a winner. Clearly Ancestry has millions more users because MyHeritage has major issues & little info & docs. Just sucks.

    Saludos, estoy yo iniciando en este mundo de la búsqueda de origines familiares. Estoy esperando que me llegue la prueba de MyHeritage . Tan pronto tenga un resultado les diré mi experiencia. Pero lo que me molesta de esta plataforma es que no permite poner el segundo apellido. Entiendo que esto esta primero dirigido para los estadounidenses los cuales el apellido materno no lo utilizan. Pero en la comunidad latina, en mi caso Puerto Rico, sí se usa los dos apellidos. Para evitar confusiones con otra persona, por ejemplo mi padre, abuelo, hermano y tio, tiene el mismo primer nombre, segundo nombre y el primer apellido. Y por eso la pagina me esta dando coincidencias que no son de esas personas. (Entiendo que tal vez este comentario no sea tomado en cuenta) Pero entiendo que estas plataformas deberían ser más inclusivas con las realidades culturales de otros países a los cuales ellos también les dan servicios. Tan pronto tenga los resultados me estaré realizando la segunda prueba con AncestryDNA.

      1. If you mean the ethnicity results are false, I would recommend watching this video ruclips.net/video/ScZtHuU78n4/видео.html
      2. If you mean close matches are wrong, that would not be the case. MyHeritage will accurately predict close relatives. Distant relatives is a struggle for all platforms.

    Does Ancestry have a Jewish bias?

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics
      @FamilyHistoryFanatics  2 года назад

      Why would you think that?
      All DNA companies are restricted by the participation of regions around the world in the reference populations. Some ethnic groups have more readily participated genetic testing than others. For instance, US native tribes are not included in ethnicity comparison groups because they have refused to participate.
      Does that help answer your question?
